With his neck injured, Huo Tu couldn’t eat. Smelling the aroma of roasted chicken, he smacked his lips and cursed, "Fuck, I’ve never been this damn frustrated."

"Second Master, don’t be angry," Ma Liu said, his words muffled as he tore off a chicken leg. "Old Prince Feng is in the city. We’ll have his backing once we see him tomorrow."

Huo Tu nodded, and a sudden pain shot through his neck. "HISS... Take it easy on me!"

"Applying medicine is going to hurt. If you can’t handle the pain, I won’t do it." The doctor had been in Dayu City for years and had seen more than his share of thugs.

Seeing the doctor close the porcelain vial, Huo Tu was flabbergasted. "I told you to be gentle, not to stop!"

"It’s going to hurt when I apply it. Being gentle has nothing to do with it."

Huo Tu’s face tensed. Seeing that the doctor wasn’t the least bit afraid, he couldn’t help but wonder, ’Are all the people in Dayu City out of their minds?’

"Second Master, just let him apply the medicine," Ma Liu coaxed. "It’ll be harder to treat if it gets infected."

Seizing the opportunity to save face, Huo Tu just grunted.

"What are you packing up for? Get back to applying the medicine," Ma Liu snapped at the doctor.

The doctor tossed the medicine vial to Ma Liu. "You’re impossible. Apply it yourselves. Including the treatment for that young lady, the total is five silver."

"Five silver? That’s highway robbery!"

"If it’s too expensive, don’t come looking for me next time you’re injured. But first, pay for this time." The doctor finished packing his things and held out his hand for the money.

Ma Liu had never met such a belligerent doctor. He lifted his foot to kick the man’s medicine case, but never expected the doctor to be a martial artist.

Before Ma Liu’s foot could connect with the case, the doctor intercepted him with a swift kick to the calf, forcing Ma Liu into a painful-looking split.

"AGH! It hurts, it hurts...!"

The doctor calmly slung the medicine case over his shoulder. "So, who’s paying? Don’t tell me you’re planning to skip out on the bill."

Huo Tu was dumbfounded.

Huo Feng quickly stood up. "Doctor, here’s five silver for your fee."

The doctor took the money and offered a piece of advice. "You’d better curb that lordly temper of yours. That sort of thing doesn’t fly in Dayu City."

"Yes, thank you for the warning, Doctor."

"Curb your ass! Get lost, you damn quack!" Huo Tu cursed.

"Second Uncle, Dayu City isn’t like Qingzhou," Huo Feng said, his expression and tone turning serious. "This place is full of nobles and powerful figures. Liran got into trouble because of her sharp tongue. You need to be more careful. Those people just now were not to be trifled with."

"Not to be trifled with? Well, neither am I! I don’t give a damn who that Ye Qianning is. Once I see Old Prince Feng, I’ll make sure she dies a graveless— WHACK!"

Before Huo Tu could finish, a sharp pain erupted on his left cheek. His head snapped to the side, and his body was sent flying more than two meters away...

Huo Feng, Ma Liu, and the others saw only a blur, and suddenly, their Second Master was gone.

When they snapped out of it, they turned to see an all-too-familiar sight.

A man in simple military armor was standing with his boot on Huo Tu’s chest.

"Who was it you just said would die a graveless death?" The man leaned down, staring at the person under his foot. His voice was toneless, yet it radiated danger.

"COUGH, COUGH..." Huo Tu coughed violently. It felt like a boulder was crushing his chest.

Huo Feng recognized the man’s Beili military armor at a glance. Horrified, he rose and stepped forward. "Sir Officer, my second uncle was just spouting nonsense! He didn’t mean it! I beg you, General, please be merciful."

The man didn’t even spare him a glance, his cold, vicious gaze still fixed on the person beneath his boot. "I’m asking you. Who is it that’s going to die a graveless death?"

Huo Feng could see the man wouldn’t let this go. His gaze shifted to Huo Tu.

’I hope Second Uncle chooses his words carefully,’ he thought. ’It’s never easy to clean up a mess after offending an official, especially a Beili official. He looks like he’s at least a General.’
