The Huo family all turned at the sound of a bloodcurdling scream, and what they saw made them jump in shock.

A man in a black cloak, radiating a murderous aura, had his foot planted on their Huo family’s precious young lady.

"Who are you? How dare you do this to our Young Miss—" Before Ma Liu could finish, a line of men in black cloaks appeared from behind, surrounding the group and pressing longswords to their necks.

Even Huo Tu, a man accustomed to the life-and-death struggles of the martial world, was stunned by the murderous aura these men exuded. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

A murderous aura billowed from the men surrounding them. The moment Huo Tu spoke, the longsword at his neck pressed a fraction deeper, and blood immediately trickled down the blade.

Ma Liu and the others were terrified by the sight.

"Second Uncle."

Huo Feng started to move forward, but an ice-cold longsword stopped him in his tracks. He turned to look worriedly at Huo Liran.

With a foot on her chest, Huo Liran couldn’t catch her breath, her face flushing bright red.

"Who were you just cursing?" the man asked, his pitch-black eyes glacial.

Huo Liran met his gaze and a shiver ran down her spine. Before she could say a word, the man reached up and drew a greatsword from his back. The blade was massive and looked razor-sharp.

THUNK! The greatsword plunged into the sand.

It landed right beside her head. When the wind blew, a strand of her hair drifted onto the blade and was instantly severed, the two pieces floating away.

"Speak."

Huo Liran was frightened out of her mind. Trembling, she stammered, "I... I was cursing... cursing Ye... Ye—" PUFF...

The pressure on her chest intensified, and a coppery tang filled her throat. Unable to hold it back, she spat out a mouthful of blood. Her vision went black, and she fainted.

Seeing that she had fainted, the black-robed man finally removed his foot.

"Liran!" Huo Feng cried out. "Sir, I’m not sure how my sister has offended you, but why must you be so ruthless?"

"She provoked the wrong person."

The black-robed man picked up his greatsword and, with a flick of his wrist, settled it back onto his back.

’She provoked the wrong person?’

Huo Feng’s mind raced, and his thoughts immediately landed on Ye Qianning. Liran had been insulting her nonstop.

Huo Tu didn’t dare move a muscle. "Sir, this is all a misunderstanding..."

"Tell me, where did you meet our Young Miss?" one of the other men demanded coldly.

Huo Tu was stunned. ’That seemingly ordinary, wretched girl is their Young Miss? Could it just be someone else with the same name?’

Huo Feng was horrified. ’So that’s why Miss Ye dared to sail the seas all by herself without a hint of fear. Her family must be incredibly powerful.’

’Their murderous aura is glacial, enough to make a man tremble with a single glance. This is no ordinary family.’

"Sirs, might you have made a mistake?" Huo Tu stammered.

"Our Young Miss returned from the sea. Judging by your appearance, you came from the sea as well. There’s no mistake." The guard’s longsword pricked a fraction deeper. "Now tell us, why did you insult our Miss?"

’From the sea?’

Huo Tu had been clinging to a sliver of hope, but now he knew. There was no mistake—that wretched girl really was the Young Miss they were talking about.

"I... It’s all a misunderstanding. My niece is just immature; she doesn’t have any real grudge against Miss Ye. It was nothing more than a childish spat."

"My daughter never stoops to arguing with people, let alone people like you who aren’t even worthy of her attention. If others don’t provoke her, she never causes trouble."

’The implication was clear: they were the ones who started it.’

Huo Feng couldn’t argue. ’She had been nothing but kind, yet not only was my sister ungrateful, she’d been insulting her the entire way...’

’Well, perfect. We ran right into her father. She completely deserved that beating!’
