I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?
Chapter 713: Hundreds of Invitations
"Who should I send them to?"
"To every prominent figure in Dayu City, including all the dignitaries who’ve just entered the city. Regardless of their nationality, make sure they all get an invitation."
Luo Feng was puzzled. "Why is Miss Ye inviting so many people?"
"To make Elder Chen’s birthday celebration lively."
’If I’m going to do this, I might as well go all out.’
"Elder Chen hates crowds... Miss Ye, this might make him angry."
"He won’t be."
Luo Feng hesitated, but seeing Miss Ye’s absolute confidence, he thought for a moment before agreeing to handle it.
Ye Qianning returned to her room and handed Luo Feng the invitations she had prepared in advance—a stack of several hundred.
"On the twelfth of June, clear out the Immortal Sea Building. I’m going to host a grand birthday celebration for my master there."
"Miss Ye, if you send out all these invitations, will they actually show up?" Luo Feng stared, dumbfounded, at the hundreds of cards. "Elder Chen is stateless right now. All those powerful figures look down their noses at everyone. Are they really going to come?"
"Whether they attend is their business. Just make sure the invitations get to them."
"Alright."
The sky gradually darkened, but it was lively both inside and outside the city walls.
The area for a couple of miles outside the city was covered in tents. The Jiang family had also bought their own to set up a temporary camp.
Jiang Yue hammered stakes into the ground to secure their tent. The coastal wind was strong, and without proper anchoring, the tent could be gone by the middle of the night.
"Second Brother, Dayu City is so lively! Why don’t we stay a while longer?" Jiang Yue said after she finished hammering in the last stake. The shouts of vendors from within the city walls drifted over to them.
The city was ablaze with lights, looking incredibly festive. Every so often, a tantalizing aroma would drift by on the wind, making one’s mouth water.
Without looking up from pitching the tent, Jiang Chenyi replied, "The Four-Kingdom Commercial Conference is starting soon. Even though the Jiang family doesn’t engage in trade, we can still go to broaden our horizons."
"How long until the Commercial Conference?"
"The twenty-second of June."
Jiang Yue did a quick mental calculation, and her eyes lit up. "Great! We’ll go back to Qingzhou after the conference ends."
Once he finished, Jiang Chenyi turned to see her delighted expression and shook his head with a smile. ’She’s not excited about any commercial conference. The truth is she just wants to find an excuse to see Miss Ye every day.’
’Thinking of Ye Qianning... the innkeeper today said she’d checked in a month ago. How in the world did she make it to shore?’
"Second Brother, look! It’s the Huo family," Jiang Yue said, suddenly spotting several familiar figures.
Jiang Chenyi snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look.
Huo Tu and Huo Feng led the way, followed by Ma Liu and his men, each of them carrying a tent on their shoulders.
Huo Liran trailed behind them, a foul expression on her face. Everything she saw seemed to annoy her.
"Second Uncle, are we really going to stay in a place like this?"
"Just bear with it for now. Tomorrow, I’ll have Ma Liu ask around again and see if anyone is willing to give up a room." Huo Tu and his party had already been to every inn in the city, but none had any vacancies.
Huo Liran glanced around. "But... how can anyone live like this?"
"We’ll make do for one night and figure something else out tomorrow. Come on, let’s set up by the main road," said Huo Tu.
Huo Liran whined and grumbled.
"Let’s go. Stop being so dramatic," Huo Feng couldn’t help but say. "If other people can manage, why can’t you?"
"I can’t even sleep on a hard bed, let alone the ground!"
"Suit yourself then."
Pouting, Huo Liran felt more and more aggrieved the more she thought about it. She kicked at a small pebble. "It’s all that damned Ye Qianning’s fault! She obviously had a way to get ashore, but she just had to make us take the long way around! That damned Ye Qianning, that damned Ye... AHH—"
Before she could finish her curse, she was sent flying through the air. She hadn’t even processed what happened when a foot landed heavily on her chest.
"Who were you just cursing?"
The voice was magnetic, low, and dangerous.
