Chapter 189: Ch 189- Meet Goldy

It was already four in the afternoon when the front door of the house finally opened.

Mo Ran stepped inside with Kitty sitting on her shoulder. She had just returned from the academy and as soon as she entered the living room, her eyes lit up.

Her older brother was home!

Mo Yuan was lying on the sofa, sleeping peacefully. Seeing him after an entire month, Mo Ran felt a wave of happiness wash over her.

During the past month, she had grown quite lonely. Her daily routine had become simple and repetitive. She would go to the academy, attend her classes, sometimes spend time with her friends and then return home.

Without Mo Yuan around, the house had felt much quieter than usual.

Fortunately, she still had Kitty to keep her company. Otherwise, she might have gone crazy from boredom.

Mo Ran wanted to run over and wake her brother but when she saw how peacefully he was sleeping, she decided against it.

’Brother must have been working hard outside. I’ll let him rest a little longer.’

She carefully walked farther into the living room. However, just as she passed the sofa, she noticed something unusual.

A small golden mouse was sleeping on a nearby chair.

It lay on its back with all four paws raised in the air, its little belly exposed. Its breathing was slow and steady and its expression was so relaxed that it looked as though it had no worries in the entire world.

A few shiny Primordial Qi Stones were scattered around its body.

Kitty immediately noticed the stones.

Her blue eyes brightened and she jumped down from Mo Ran’s shoulder. Without making a sound, she approached the chair, her gaze fixed on the sparkling stones.

These stones contained pure Primordial Qi. Naturally, Kitty was interested in them.

She stretched out a paw and was just about to touch one when the golden mouse suddenly opened its eyes.

The mouse quickly sat up and looked at the strange white cat and the little girl standing in front of it.

For a moment, neither side moved.

The golden mouse looked at Mo Ran carefully.

’She looks a lot like Senior Mo Yuan. She must be his younger sister.’

Having figured out who she was, the mouse showed no signs of panic. Instead, it raised its tiny head and greeted her politely.

"Hello, human."

"WHAT?!"

Mo Ran’s loud scream instantly filled the living room.

"A talking mouse?!"

Kitty was equally shocked. She jumped backward and landed on Mo Ran’s shoulder again, lowering her body and staring at the golden mouse with alert eyes. Her tail swayed behind her as she prepared to attack if necessary.

A talking beast was not something she could simply ignore.

The sudden commotion also woke Mo Yuan, who had been sleeping on the sofa.

He slowly opened his eyes and sat up. When he saw Mo Ran staring at the golden mouse with her mouth wide open, he immediately understood what had happened.

A smile appeared on his face.

’Looks like Goldy has finally met his new employer.’

Mo Ran soon noticed that her brother was awake. She hurried over to him, pointing at the golden mouse with a bewildered expression.

"Brother! What is that thing? Why can it talk?"

Kitty also jumped from her shoulder into Mo Yuan’s arms. He gently stroked her soft fur, calming her down before looking at Mo Ran.

"Mo Ran, meet..."

He paused.

Only then did he realize that he had never given the golden mouse a proper name.

He looked at the little creature sitting proudly on the chair. Its golden fur was bright and shiny and its entire body was round enough to resemble a small ball.

After thinking for a moment, Mo Yuan nodded.

"I’ll call you Goldy. Your race is the Golden Mouse, so that name should suit you."

The golden mouse immediately stood up and nodded enthusiastically.

"Yes, Senior! From now on, my name is Goldy!"

It even patted its little chest with one paw, looking extremely pleased with its new name.

Mo Yuan smiled before turning toward his sister.

"Mo Ran, this is Goldy. He’s a beast and a rather powerful one at that. From now on, he’ll be responsible for protecting you."

He then glanced at the golden mouse.

Goldy immediately understood what he meant. He jumped down from the chair and stood in front of Mo Ran, puffing out his chest proudly.

"Senior’s sister, you can leave your safety to me! As long as I’m here, no one will be able to get close to you!"

He patted his chest again as if he were making a solemn oath.

Mo Ran stared at the tiny mouse in front of her. Although it was speaking like a powerful expert, its round body and short limbs made it look rather adorable.

Her initial shock gradually faded, replaced by curiosity.

"Brother, where did you find Goldy?"

Mo Yuan casually replied, "I found him during a mission. He’s reliable, so I decided to bring him back. You don’t have to worry about your safety anymore."

Mo Ran nodded but another question soon came to mind.

"Brother, is Goldy stronger than Kitty?"

As she asked, she glanced at the white cat in her arms.

Kitty raised her head slightly, clearly interested in hearing the answer.

"Yes. Goldy is a Peak Realm beast. He can fight against cultivators in the Origin Lord Realm."

Mo Ran’s eyes widened.

"Origin Lord Realm?"

She looked at the golden mouse again, finding it difficult to connect such a tiny creature with a powerful beast capable of fighting Origin Lord cultivators.

Then another thought suddenly struck her.

’If Brother can bring back a beast that powerful and make it protect me, just how strong has he become?’

She looked at Mo Yuan with suspicion.

"Brother, have you already reached the Sovereign Realm?"

Mo Yuan could not help laughing.

He reached out and flicked her forehead gently.

"You silly girl. Don’t worry about such things. Just focus on your cultivation."

"Brother, you!"

Mo Ran covered her forehead and pouted angrily. She had been asking a serious question, yet her brother had flicked her forehead again!

Seeing her expression, Mo Yuan laughed.

"Alright, alright. I’ll visit your academy tomorrow. You can show me around and show off your older brother to your friends."

Mo Ran’s anger disappeared instantly.

Her eyes lit up and a bright smile spread across her face.

"Really? Thank you, Brother!"

Mo Yuan nodded with a smile.

After chatting for a while, Mo Ran suddenly remembered something.

"Brother, do you want me to prepare something delicious for you?"

"Just make me some noodles."

"Okay!"

Mo Ran happily went to the kitchen. About ten minutes later, she returned with four bowls of noodles.

One was for Mo Yuan, one for herself, one for Kitty and the last one for Goldy.

The golden mouse had been watching the food being prepared with great interest. The moment the bowl was placed in front of him, he eagerly took his first bite.

His eyes immediately widened.

"Delicious! This is amazing!"

He began eating at an incredible speed, quickly shoving noodles into his mouth as though he had not eaten in years.

Kitty looked at him with obvious disdain.

’What a mannerless fellow.’

She sat properly beside Mo Yuan and ate her own portion elegantly, occasionally glancing at Goldy as if she were looking at some uncultured beast.

Mo Yuan watched the two creatures and burst into laughter.

One acted like a noble young lady, while the other ate as though someone might steal his food.

After the meal, Mo Yuan stood up and stretched.

"Alright, I’m going to the cultivation room. I’ll come to your academy tomorrow at 3:50 in the afternoon."

"Okay, Brother!"

Mo Ran happily nodded, already imagining the looks on her friends faces when she introduced her older brother to them.

Mo Yuan entered the cultivation room and closed the door behind him.

Meanwhile, Goldy finished his noodles, climbed back onto the chair and lay down beside the remaining Primordial Qi Stones.

Within moments, his eyes closed again.

After spending years searching for treasures and struggling to survive inside the Secret Realm, he had finally found a place where he could eat delicious food, cultivate with valuable resources and sleep without worrying about being attacked.

’Following Senior Mo Yuan was definitely the best decision of my life!’

With that satisfying thought, Goldy fell asleep once more.
