Chapter 188: Ch 188- Returning Home

Soon, the Primordial Qi boat reached the main gate of Cang Lan Base. The massive city walls came into view, with countless buildings rising behind them. After spending a month inside the Secret Realm, seeing a familiar place again felt strangely refreshing.

David turned toward Mo Yuan and the others.

"We’ll be leaving now. If you have anything you want to discuss with the Human Federation, don’t hesitate to visit the Human Federation Tower."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Also, decide when you want to leave for the Holy Base. The first phase of admission to the Human Federation Academy ends in June and classes begin that month. There is also a second phase but there is no need to be late."

After saying this, David looked at Mu Qingying, Mu Shaobei, Bai Ningning and Qin Wushang.

"You four should make your preparations and leave together with Mo Yuan. I’ll also remind Ming Yue about this."

The four of them nodded, as they were 17 years old except Mu Qingying and had already been at the Holy base last year but they weren’t able to pass the entrance test.

After exchanging a few words, David and the other Sovereign Realm cultivators left. The Primordial Qi boat disappeared into the distance, leaving Mo Yuan and his friends floating down toward the ground.

Once they landed safely, the group headed toward the main gate.

After showing their identification cards to the guards, they entered Cang Lan Base.

Mo Yuan walked with his friends for a while before stopping.

"Alright, I’ll see you all later."

"See you, Mo Yuan," Mu Qingying replied with a smile.

The others also said their goodbyes before heading toward their respective homes.

Mo Yuan watched them leave, then turned toward his own residence.

He had been away for an entire month, leaving Mo Ran alone at home. Although he knew she could take care of herself, he still wanted to see her as soon as possible.

Besides, he had made a promise, that he would visit her academy after coming from the mission so she could show off her older brother to her classmates.

’I’ve been away for a month. It’s about time I kept that promise.’

Thinking of Mo Ran’s excited expression, Mo Yuan couldn’t help but smile.

At that moment, the Golden Mouse finally let out a long sigh of relief.

"Senior, were those people all stronger than Peak Realm beasts?"

Mo Yuan glanced at the little creature sitting on his shoulder.

"Of course. Those were Sovereign Realm cultivators. Any one of them could kill thousands of Peak Realm beasts with a flick of their finger."

The Golden Mouse froze.

Thousands?

It had spent years inside the Secret Realm, where it was considered one of the strongest beasts. Even the Shadow Bull had been a terrifying existence that most Peak Realm beasts dared not provoke.

Yet, according to Mo Yuan, a single human could kill thousands of creatures like them with almost no effort.

The mouse suddenly felt that leaving the Secret Realm might not have been such a good idea.

After a moment, it cautiously asked, "Senior, are those the strongest humans?"

"The strongest?" Mo Yuan chuckled. "Not even close. There are Monarch Realm cultivators above them and even stronger existences beyond that."

The Golden Mouse’s eyes widened.

There were even stronger beings?

’Just how powerful are these humans? I must behave myself. If I accidentally offend someone, I might not even have time to run!’

The mouse silently made up its mind to stay out of trouble.

Seeing its frightened expression, Mo Yuan smiled but said nothing more. He continued walking toward home while the Golden Mouse curiously observed the streets around them.

It was still early in the morning and the streets were beginning to grow busy. People hurried toward their workplaces, vehicles passed along the roads and the occasional cultivator could be seen carrying weapons or wearing protective equipment.

The Golden Mouse had never seen anything like this before.

"Senior, what is that strange thing?"

It pointed toward a vehicle passing along the road.

"That’s a car."

"And that?"

"A shop."

"What about that tall thing?"

"A building."

The Golden Mouse continued asking questions about almost everything it saw. Mo Yuan patiently answered a few of them but after a while, he began to regret bringing the curious little fellow along. ℯℯ𝑙.

’This thing asks more questions than Mo Ran.’

Fortunately, their home was not far away.

Soon, Mo Yuan arrived at the familiar entrance and opened the door.

The Golden Mouse immediately climbed down from his shoulder and looked around with shining eyes.

It was its first time entering a human home. The sofa, kitchen, tables and other ordinary objects were all completely new to it.

It walked around cautiously, sniffing everything as though it were exploring another Secret Realm.

Mo Yuan watched it for a moment before suddenly remembering something.

’Wait a minute. I never even checked whether this fellow was male or female.’

He released a little Origin Sense and examined the Golden Mouse.

A moment later, he nodded.

’Male.’

Having satisfied his curiosity, he stopped paying attention to the matter and walked over to the sofa. He sat down before leaning back and stretching his body.

For the past month, he had constantly been cultivating, hunting beasts, searching for treasures and fighting powerful opponents. Although the rewards had been excellent, the entire experience had left him mentally exhausted.

Now that he was finally home, he wanted nothing more than to relax.

Mo Yuan glanced at the Golden Mouse, which was still exploring the room.

"I remember you said that sleeping is your favourite hobby. You don’t have much work to do here. I’ll introduce you to my younger sister later. Your main job will be to protect her. When you’re at home, you can sleep as much as you want."

The Golden Mouse stopped moving.

His little eyes gradually widened and then his entire face lit up with excitement.

"Thank you, Senior!"

He had never imagined that his new life outside the Secret Realm would be so wonderful.

Not only would he have a powerful human backing it but his daily task was simply to protect one person. As long as nothing happened, he could spend the rest of his time sleeping.

This was practically a dream job!

Mo Yuan smiled at its reaction before remembering something else.

"By the way, you can finally continue cultivating now. The Secret Realm restricted everyone to the Peak Realm, so you couldn’t break through even if you wanted to. Once you’re outside, you can try reaching the Sovereign Realm."

The Golden Mouse immediately understood.

So that was why he had been unable to advance despite spending so many years at the Peak Realm!

he nodded excitedly, already looking forward to his breakthrough.

Mo Yuan raised his hand and fifty Primordial Qi Stones appeared in front of the mouse. They floated briefly before settling into a small pile on the floor.

"Use these to cultivate for now. I’ll get you a storage ring later. I’ll also prepare some beast blood and beast corpses for you. With those resources, you should be able to improve your strength."

The Golden Mouse stared at the Primordial Qi Stones as though they were the most beautiful treasures in the world.

"Thank you, Senior!"

He hurriedly moved toward the stones, afraid that someone might suddenly take them away.

Mo Yuan paid him no further attention. He leaned back against the sofa, closed his eyes and decided to take a short nap.

After an entire month of hard work, he could finally enjoy a little peace.

Meanwhile, the Golden Mouse happily gathered the Primordial Qi Stones in front of himself.

His new life in the human world had begun and he was already convinced that following Mo Yuan had been the best decision of his life.
