Chapter 706: I Have A New Medicine

He had reached the bottom of his pocket. Gao Ming started to sweat. He knew that if he couldn’t produce enough money, the two workers would detain him. “I think I have a higher chance of being killed by an Unmentionable than hoping for Jia Youzhi and the rest to save me.” Gao Ming was troubled when he sensed a familiar aura approaching. He turned towards the backyard that had a no-entry sign. A normal-looking young man walked over.

“He was the officer I saw last night!” The chains in the torture room rattled. In this chaotic altar world, Gao Ming met his first ally.

“Hello, my name is Lee Sansi.” Gao Ming couldn’t tell whose soul was inside this skin. However, it didn’t stop him from extending his hands. The night officers had many strange habits. If this had not been Gao Ming, Black Crow would have avoided the handshake.

“Thank you for saving my life last night, officer. Without you, my family would have ended up inside the monster’s jaw,” Gao Ming exclaimed loudly and sincerely. The workers smirked and said nothing.

“Stop wasting my time. Why are you here?” Black Crow was aloof.

“Your team forgot something in front of my studio last night.” Gao Ming sidled up to the man and whispered in a voice only audible to them. “The medicine from Han Hai is here. Doctor Gao said it can cure the illness in your heart.”

Black Crow’s eyes narrowed. People in this city shouldn’t know about Han Hai. He felt a prick in his palm. Something cut out a minor wound. Blood seeped through. The malice around Black Crow’s heart lightened. It was drawn away by the hint of blood.

“Officer, I haven’t touched the things. They are still at the studio. If you have time, you have to come for them.” Gao Ming let go and slipped his ring into Black Crow’s pocket. He bowed repeatedly. He was very humble.

Black Crow stopped him and stared at Gao Ming like he were a corpse. “I have some free time now. Wait for me.” Black Crow returned to the backyard to pack up his knives. The two workers regarded Gao Ming with pity.

“Why is the idiot so happy?”

“He thinks he’s in Black Crow’s good book. The poor idiot. Black Crow is our station’s most vicious officer. He never brings back corpses that we can piece together nicely.”

After putting on the cap and mask, Black Crow shrugged into a loose black jacket. His hand that held the knife silently pushed into Gao Ming’s back. “Let’s go.”

Black Crow was quick and efficient. He ignored the rest and led Gao Ming out of the station. Gao Ming wanted to walk towards the studio when Black Crow warned him, “Don’t move. Follow me. Your place is not safe.” The studio was built on Dog Street. This was where Zhu Chuan did a lot of human experiments. Many volunteers were selected locally. With Black Crow’s guidance, Gao Ming took a big detour and arrived at the poor district’s Gan Shui Alley. This was the intersection between Third and Fourth Streets. The place was deserted even in the day, much less at night.

The place reeked. It was a direct contrast to the Hao Jue Hotel. One was hell and the other was heaven.

“Go!” Black Crow pulled out the knife and scanned the nearby buildings. The blade glinted. The eyes hidden in the walls quickly disappeared.

“Those are rats. They are dirty and cowardly. However, once your weakness is exposed, they will munch on you until not a single bone remains.” Black Crow kicked away a rotten mat. There was a misshapen old man underneath. “Three types of people live in Gan Shui Alley. They are rat people, dog people and pig people. You have to be ruthless to the rats, harsh to the dogs and run away from the pigs.”

Black Crow led the way. The geography became more complicated. They walked around for half an hour before reaching the back door of an illegal clinic. After ensuring no one was tailing them, Black Crow knocked on the door three times and pushed Gao Ming in.

A woman in a nurse’s outfit didn’t even raise her head as she complained with impatience, “You have to do it every time you kill. Do you think I’m your…” The dirty blond hair parted to reveal a burned face. When the woman saw that it was Gao Ming, she grabbed the knife and swung it at Gao Ming’s face!

The blades collided. Black Crow stopped the woman. “You crazy bitch! This is my customer!”

“He doesn’t look like a good person. A whole lot of cunning.” The woman’s body proportions were off. Her stitched outfit looked fit to burst. She was rough and brusque. Her eyes were hidden in her scar. It looked scary. Gao Ming felt wronged. He couldn’t help how Lee Sansi looked.

“Keep watch at the door.” Black Crow carried Gao Ming by his neck and walked past the woman to a hidden room on the second floor. Black Crow closed the door and sighed in relief. He stabbed the knife into the table. “This is my territory. We can talk openly.”

“Other than our people, no one else can be trusted in this city.” Gao Ming was still careful.

“Stop beating around the bush. Who sent you here? Where is this Doctor Gao you mentioned?” Black Crow lost his patience. The malice in his heart danced. He wanted to shred the man before him into strips.

“Night Police should have access to medicine to suppress malice. How is your condition so bad?” Gao Ming noticed something was wrong.

“An old bastard drugged my medicine, but I have no evidence.”

“Are you kidding me? When did this city require evidence? When did Night Police become so principled?” Gao Ming tried to reconcile the person before him with the individual in his torture room through his actions and principles.

“If you keep wasting my time, I’ll hand you over to the woman downstairs!” Black Crow clutched his heart. Thoughts of killing, dismemberment and murder triggered his nerves. His memory invoked more black lines. He couldn’t control them. His brain, nerves and body pushed him towards malice.

“Determined, cold and aloof on the surface to contain a heart of fire. You remind me of a friend I have. His surname is Bai.” Gao Ming saw the pain the man was in. He found a dagger in the drawer. “I have a new medicine with me. Maybe you can try it.”

The blade cut through the wrist. Crimson blood flowed out.
