Kael’s heart skipped a beat.

He thought Viktor wanted to continue discussing alchemy with him, but he didn’t expect it to be about this matter.

But how did he know?

Kael was sure that on the day Dumbledore left Godric’s Hollow, only the two of them were present, even Bathilda was upstairs, unaware of what was happening downstairs.

Not to mention, this Professor Viktor was far away in France. How did he possibly know?

Kael gripped his wand tighter, but outwardly he appeared calm, showing no change in expression, "You should ask Professor McGonagall about Dumbledore’s schedule, how could I possibly know?"

"You don’t know?" Viktor frowned.

"Of course not, I just graduated," Kael said, "And going back a hundred years, isn’t that a bit exaggerated? The current Time Turners can’t do that."

"Not the current ones, but one from a thousand years ago," Viktor rubbed his forehead, "Strange, Nicolas clearly said he gave it to you... Did I remember wrong?"

Kael blinked, "Professor Viktor, you know about the Time Turner?"

"Of course, Albus approached me long ago, asking me to help repair something... that Time Turner."

Viktor said, "The Magic Text Formula that made it operational was something Nicolas and I came up with together."

Hearing this, Kael vaguely remembered, Dumbledore had indeed mentioned earlier that he would invite the most renowned Masters of Alchemy to repair the Time Turner.

Looks like besides Nicolas Flamel, this Professor Viktor was one of them.

"Oh." Professor Viktor nodded, "I didn’t expect him to hold out until now. I even made a bet with Nicolas, guessing when he’d go find Arianna."

"What do you mean?" Kael asked, interested.

"I guessed under half a year, Nicolas thought it’d take longer, at least a year."

Professor Viktor rubbed his forehead, "I must admit, he understands Dumbledore better."

"And what was the wager?" Kael asked curiously.

"Entrance to Paris Fashion Week."

"What?" Kael rubbed his ears, thinking he heard wrong.

"It’s a Muggle event," Viktor explained, thinking Kael didn’t know, "The relationship between the French Ministry of Magic and the Muggle leaders is quite good, and there are many people in the Ministry who are my students, so from time to time, I receive all sorts of odd things."

Viktor moved his finger, and a drawer nearby popped open by itself, filled with various small items, flyers, mementos, among which tickets were the most common.

Kael glanced over, seeing tickets for football, fashion week, lingerie shows, music festivals, car races... all types.

"I’m not interested in them and have never gone," Viktor said, "But Nicolas loves them, he’s very interested in all things Muggle, always finding excuses to get tickets from me.

"Professor Viktor," Kael changed the subject, "Why did you think Professor Dumbledore had gone to the past?"

"Because he hasn’t appeared in a long time and there’s been no news," Viktor said, "Aside from going back a hundred years, I can’t think of another reason for his prolonged disappearance."

"But it seems I was wrong." He continued, "Maybe I’ve been too busy writing new teaching materials lately to pay attention to his situation. Don’t worry about it, just forget I mentioned it."

"But now, I’m relieved."

"Relieved?" Kael asked, puzzled, "What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, it’s nothing major," Viktor said slowly, "Just about a week ago, Nicolas noticed that the Magic Text Formula we used to drive the Time Turner wasn’t perfect and might cause time chaos for the user.

"In other words, he came back, but didn’t come back."
