Chapter 1132: Chapter 813: Beauxbatons (3)
Just as Conna was hesitating, she felt her hand being grabbed by someone.
"It’s okay, Fleur did it on purpose," Kael gently reassured her.
"On purpose?"
"Hmm, it’s just a large magic illusion, a kind of protective device for Beauxbatons. Even where we’re standing is not actually a mountain."
Kael led Conna, walked a few steps to the left, then bypassed a pine tree and stopped in front of a huge stone.
"This is it," Kael said, "Go forward."
Conna instinctively took a step forward.
Then she saw that everything around her changed; the originally barren mountaintop became two giant stone pillars, carved with statues, and she was now standing between them, right in the middle of Beauxbatons’ gate.
"Kael, have you been to Beauxbatons before?" Fleur’s questioning voice came from not far away.
"No," Kael appeared beside Conna.
"Then how did you know the correct path?"
"Though I haven’t been here, I’ve read a lot of books on Alchemy and visited Nicolas’ estate."
Kael stepped forward and tapped the eye of the Thunderbird statue on the pillar, which was a dazzling sapphire.
"A classic protective Alchemy item, Nicolas’ estate has this at its entrance, combined with the Magic Text on one’s body, it can hide everything within range." Kael said casually.
In fact, there is a similar setup at Nicolas’ estate entrance,
The two Fire Dragon statues have eyes that are Alchemy Gems, and their scales have specially designed Magic Text Talismans.
Anyone who enters without Nicolas’ consent would get lost in a fog.
From an onlooker’s perspective, they seem to spin around in place, then get stomped flat by the two Alchemy Fire Dragons.
The protections here aren’t as advanced.
Kael felt the pattern on the Thunderbird’s wings... just basic protective Magic Text, judging by the Magic Power flowing through it, not enough to animate the Thunderbird statue.
"Tch..." Fleur pursed her lips in displeasure, "Why do you, a Hogwarts student, know so much about Alchemy?"
"You can’t know too much," Kael smiled, "It came in handy now, didn’t it?"
"Stop showing off."
Kael easily uncovered Fleur’s carefully devised revenge plan, which made her quite annoyed. She turned and started walking forward.
"This time you really need to stick close to me," she said. "Beauxbatons isn’t like Hogwarts; there’s not just a non-magical caretaker here, if you’re discovered, you could get expelled."
"So following you won’t get me expelled?" Kael asked.
"Of course," Fleur said, "If you’re caught with me, you won’t be expelled, you’ll be escorted to the Ministry of Magic, charged with illegally invading Beauxbatons."
Kael’s expression froze, "That’s even worse than expulsion."
"I know," Fleur replied nonchalantly, "That’s why I’ll take you on a little-known path straight to Ms.Maxime’s office."
She walked to the fountain and jumped in without hesitation.
Having learned from earlier, Conna instinctively looked at Kael.
"This time it’s real, not a magic illusion," Kael shrugged.
"How did you figure it out?" Conna asked.
"I didn’t," Kael said, "This fountain itself is a large Alchemy item, even with small details inside it, I wouldn’t notice."
"Then how are you so sure?"
"Because Fleur didn’t ask me to jump first this time," Kael said casually. "Since she didn’t warn you, it means there’s no risk inside, so it’s absolutely fine."
With that, Kael followed, jumping inside. The colorful fish in the fountain were startled and quickly scattered.
Raindrops fell from the sky onto him, icy cold, but Kael didn’t fall into the water.
Inside the fountain was empty, as if he had passed through the water directly into a passageway.
The passageway was surrounded by clean marble, some pieces emitting bright lights, illuminating the corridor brightly.
Looking up, the surface shimmered like water; Kael reached out and easily touched it.
Yet they stayed above, calm and still, even the water droplets unintentionally carried down by Kael eventually wobbled back up, blending back into the water.
"This is the true Magic Secret Passage," Kael couldn’t help but exclaim.
In an instant, he felt Hogwarts was truly lacking, not only in appearance compared to Beauxbatons, but even its secret passageways couldn’t compare in magic.
