That night, deep inside the volcano.

Seimei sat with his eyes shut tight, completely focused on absorbing the mountain of training insights flooding his mind.

Thick Lava Release chakra poured out of him, blending seamlessly with the scorching air around him. It didn't mess with the cavern at all.

No surprise there. He'd picked this spot on purpose; it was literally perfect for advancing his Lava Release.

If he'd tried this out in the open (whether on the island or anywhere else), the spillover would've wrecked the environment, and not in a good way.

But here? The whole place was already basically made of the same stuff as Lava Release chakra. Even if he lost control for a second, the magma lake below would just swallow it up like it was nothing.

This volcano was custom-built for Lava Release breakthroughs.

Random thoughts flickered through his head, but he shut them down fast and got back to business: digesting those memories while keeping the raging Lava chakra inside him on a tight leash.

Time crawled by.

About forty minutes later, Seimei opened his eyes again.

He glanced at the chakra still drifting around him, shrugged, and popped open his Byakugan. One flex of its long-range absorption ability and every last drop of stray Lava chakra came rushing back into him like rivers flowing into the sea. In the blink of an eye, the cavern was back to normal.

Seimei couldn't help but smirk to himself. "Man, this breakthrough was almost too easy."

He shook the thought off, glanced down at his red, blistered skin, locked onto the Flying Thunder God seal in the middle of Moon Island, and bam: Flying Thunder God no Jutsu.

The scenery flipped in an instant. One second he was roasting alive inside a volcano, the next he was standing in the cool night breeze on the island.

"Phew… now that's better."

He let out a long breath, savoring the fresh air while his body cooled down and healed. Then he started checking what this Lava Release upgrade had actually done for him.

First up: the direct time saved from the boost in raw physical toughness.

Just like three days ago when Storm Release leveled up, the time saved this round was smaller again: only about five days.

He'd seen that coming, so no shock there.

Second: the reduction in total transformation time thanks to improved aptitude.

He'd need a quick test to get an exact number on that one.

With that in mind, he waited until his skin was back to normal, then bam: several hundred shadow clones popped into existence and got straight to work on the next training cycle.

An hour later, main body dismissed the technique and returned to the island.

While his body recovered, he carefully measured how much progress he'd made in that single hour of reinforcement.

No surprises: the efficiency boost was weaker again. Compared to the jump he got from the Storm Release upgrade, this one was barely a ten-percent improvement.

Combine that with the fact that he was so close to finishing the transformation anyway, and the actual time saved ended up being just a little over three days.

Still, shave those three days plus the direct five-day save off the remaining schedule, and he was now down to roughly thirty-four days left until completion.

"Just a little over a month, huh."

Seimei nodded to himself, released the shadow clones, and started absorbing everything they'd learned in that hour.

Once that was done, he didn't waste a second and jumped right back into training.

He kept at it until deep into the night, then finally called it quits, headed back to the cabin, and crashed.

Another quiet night.

The next day: same grind, new sunrise.

······

Days blurred into weeks. Sunrises, sunsets.

Before he knew it, more than a month had passed. It was early April now.

That afternoon, inside the volcano.

Seimei finished another full cycle of the "Body Extremity" training, then checked his progress.

Nothing. Zero. Not even a tiny bit of improvement.

It felt like an invisible shackle had locked his body in place, refusing to let him grow any further.

That familiar sensation hit him like a bell: he'd reached the critical point.

From here on out, unless he shattered that barrier, no amount of grinding would do a thing.

Far from being upset, Seimei was pumped. He'd been waiting for this exact moment for weeks.

No hesitation. He locked onto the Flying Thunder God mark on Moon Island and teleported topside.

Once on the surface, he gave his body a minute to recover, then dismissed every single shadow clone.

Ten minutes later, he'd fully absorbed and processed all of their accumulated training memories and experience.

After that, he took a deep breath, got his mind and chakra perfectly in tune, and began the breakthrough.

Same process as always.

First, activate the Rinnegan.

Layer the Mangekyō Sharingan on top.

Then trigger the human path pupillary technique: "Guidance of Man," giving his evolution a clear direction.

Next, spam the upgraded Palm Sage Technique over and over, pumping pure Yang Release chakra straight into his cells to fuel the upgrade.

Time ticked by.

Late afternoon rolled around, and suddenly: crack!

A sharp, glass-shattering sound rang inside his skull.

Seimei's eyes snapped open.

The invisible shackles were gone. In their place was wide-open potential.

He'd done it: smashed straight through the limit.

Now came the actual metamorphosis.

He closed his eyes again and waited calmly.

Didn't have to wait long. That familiar warm current showed up right on cue, racing through his chakra pathways, flooding every corner of his body, sinking deep into each and every cell.

Then the nourishment kicked in. His cells started evolving at warp speed.

Gradually, his consciousness faded into that half-dream, half-awake state where the transformation always went fastest.

Some unknown stretch of time later, his eyes flew open. He was fully awake again.

He blinked a couple times, checked the clock.

Forty-something minutes had passed since he broke the limit.

Seimei turned his focus inward and immediately felt it: pure, blissful comfort coursing through every inch of his body.

No doubt about it.

The metamorphosis was complete.
