Time ticked by, second after second.

At first, nothing seemed different about Seimei.

But as he kept sifting through the memories in his head, absorbing every last drop of training insight the shadow clones had brought back, that mental feedback started hitting his body. Changes finally kicked in.

Just like half a month ago when his Ice Release leveled up, a massive wave of chakra suddenly poured out of him.

In the blink of an eye, it blanketed the entire iceberg he was standing on (a few hundred meters across).

And it didn't stop there. The chakra kept spreading until it covered an area roughly the size of Moon Island itself.

Good thing he wasn't paying too much attention right then, or he'd have patted himself on the back for being so smart. If he'd tried breaking through on Moon Island again, the place would've been trashed by the time he was done, and he'd have to waste a bunch of chakra fixing the ecosystem… again.

Sure, the chakra spilling out right now looked pretty harmless, almost gentle. Switching locations kinda felt like overkill.

Except it totally wasn't.

This calm vibe? Temporary. Totally temporary.

The second his Storm Release crossed the threshold, the nature of that chakra was going to flip, and flip hard. And when it did, the destruction would be instant and massive.

After all, compared to the relatively chill Ice Release, Storm Release is way more aggressive and violent.

And right on cue, as soon as Seimei finished processing all the memories and fully digested the training experience, the chakra floating around him suddenly changed.

Or rather, it finally showed its true colors.

Because the moment that chakra left his body, it had already transformed into Storm Release chakra. It just hadn't revealed itself yet.

Now it did.

The misty, harmless-looking chakra instantly turned into streams of glowing, liquid-like light laced with crackling lightning (the exact kind of electric sparks you only see in Lightning Release chakra).

Crackle! Pop!

Thunder roared.

The second those flowing streams of lightning touched the ocean, they exploded into thousands of tiny branching arcs, like tree limbs shooting out in every direction.

Zap, zap, zap, zap!

Anything alive in the water that got touched (fish, sharks, whatever) turned into charred husks in an instant.

On the iceberg itself, the lightning acted like ultra-sharp spears, punching straight through the ice and leaving deep, jagged cracks behind.

For a solid half-hour, the area around Seimei looked like literal hell. Anyone seeing it would nope out immediately.

Finally, after more than thirty minutes, he opened his eyes again.

At that exact moment, the raging lightning storm vanished.

Seimei glanced around, taking in the floating graveyard of sea creatures in the distance and the shattered iceberg under his feet.

Close one, he thought.

If he'd stayed on Moon Island for this, the destructive power his Storm Release just showed off would've turned the whole place into a scorched wasteland.

"Phew… glad I moved."

He let out a relieved breath and nodded to himself.

Then he stood up and started walking straight back toward Moon Island, literally walking on top of the water.

As he strolled, he checked his body's new state.

Just like with the Ice Release upgrade, the Storm Release breakthrough shaved a bunch of time off his physical transformation.

First, the direct boost to physical strength. As expected, the effect was weaker this time (only about ten days saved), roughly two-thirds of what Ice Release gave him.

But thanks to the efficiency boost he got after the Ice upgrade, those ten days were worth more raw strength than before.

So on a standardized scale, the gain was a bit lower than last time, but nowhere near just two-thirds.

Not that it was much higher, either.

He was fine with that.

Besides the direct strength boost, his natural talent got another bump too, which made strengthening his body even easier going forward (another chunk of time saved).

He'd need to run tests to get an exact number on that part.

Thinking about it made him pick up the pace.

A minute later he was back on Moon Island.

He pulled a few enhanced soldier pills from his pouch, tossed them in his mouth, chewed, swallowed, and jumped right back into training.

One hour later…

He teleported out of the volcano and back to the surface.

While his body cooled down and healed, he carefully checked the results of that last hour of body reinforcement.

Compared to before the breakthrough, the talent boost from Storm Release had increased his strengthening efficiency by about 15%.

Translated into saved time? A little over five days.

That's only about a quarter of the twenty days Ice Release had saved him.

But it wasn't that Storm Release was weak; it was just that he didn't have much transformation time left to shave off anymore.

After the Ice Release upgrade, he only needed around seventy days total.

Then he trained another half-month before today's Storm Release breakthrough.

So going into today, he had roughly fifty-five days left.

The ten days saved directly from the strength boost dropped that to forty-five days (about a month and a half).

And a 15% efficiency boost on forty-five days works out to just over five days saved.

Simple math.

So the effect wasn't weaker; there just wasn't much time left to cut.

Which means three days from now, when his Lava Release finally levels up, the talent side of the boost will probably save even less time.

He saw that coming, though. No big deal.

Honestly? Compared to how little time he could save right now, he was way more excited about what these three consecutive upgrades were setting up for the next full-body transformation.

With three talent bumps stacked up, the next transformation was definitely going to be quick.

Maybe, just maybe, he could squeeze in one more decent Constitution stat increase before his backup chakra ran dry.

All those thoughts flashed through his mind.

After a while, he reeled himself in, stopped daydreaming, and got back to work.

He formed the seals and released the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Poof. Every clone, on the island and off, vanished.

A flood of memories, chakra, and natural energy poured back into him.

Same routine: park the memories, sort and store the returning energy, then dive into the memories and absorb every bit of progress.

As soon as that was done, he swallowed a few more enhanced soldier pills to top off his tanks, popped a fresh army of shadow clones, and round two (or round a thousand) began.

Three days flew by like that.

And finally, his Lava Release hit 100% evolution.

Time for the next upgrade.
