Chapter 2606: Contingency Plan.

The two high gods fought with everything they had. As high gods, they can replenish their divine energy quickly by taking the spiritual energy of the godclads in their pathway. This is one of the advantages of not hoarding all the power of a pathway.

So the two of them can fight for a long time. But as the fight continued, both of them considered withdrawing all of the power of their pathway if they were about to be killed.

Withdrawing all of the power of their domain will make it much more difficult for them to revive after they are killed. But it will ensure that no one is able to take over their position as the god of the pathway when they are still reviving.

A high god can revive by taking over the body of godclads in their pathway. They can take over the body of any godclad from rank 1 to rank 9.

The stronger the godclad they use to revive, the quicker they will be able to recover their strength. A rank 9 angel, for example, will provide the fastest condition to recover their strength compared to a rank 1 godclad.

If they possess a rank 1 godclad, they will have to advance from rank 1 all the way back to the rank of a god. That will take time.

But stronger godclads are more difficult to possess. A rank 1 godclad can be possessed in as little as a day, while a rank 9 angel might require up to ten years to possess.

Even so, ten years to possess a rank 9 angel is still better than the 100 years or more that it will require for their authority to recreate their body. However, during those ten years, someone might gain control of their authority and replace them as the god of the pathway.

If the two of them were fighting someone who isn’t interested in their authority, they would have little to worry about their authority being taken when they are absent. But the two of them crave each other’s authority, so they are sure that as soon as they die, their enemy will try to take control of their authority.

They made up their mind not to give the other one an easy chance to take their authority, so they made up their minds to withdraw all the power of their pathway onto themselves once it became clear that they would lose the fight and die.

While this was going on, the god of fate was still fighting the god of disaster. The god of fate had laid down a great webbed trap and led the god of disaster into it. So now the god disaster couldn’t run away and had to wait for death. This was why he was calling for help.

The god of disaster was still shouting for help. This made the god of fate sneer and say, “Go on and squeak like the pig that you are. I will respect your choice by butchering you like a pig.”

The two of them are in their true forms. The god of fate is a large spider. She is standing in the air on top of the large web that she created.

The god of disaster is a humanoid chameleon. He has four forearms and two hind limbs.

The god of disaster is holding a mirror in his arms. This mirror is the authority of his pathway. It is also the only reason why he hasn’t died yet.

The god of fate doesn’t usually need to chase someone if she wants to kill them. As long as she knows their name, she can use her authority to kill them without stressing herself.

The authority of the pathway of fate is the Book of Fate. With it, she can write out the fate of someone. She can even write how and when they will die. As long as she knows the true name of the person and what she wrote is reasonable and feasible, that person will die exactly the way she wrote it.

The power of the Book of Fate is similar to the Storytelling divine ability of the pathway of illusion. But while the Storytelling divine relies on the belief of the masses to turn a fake story into a real-life event, the Book of Fate relies entirely on the power of the god of fate.

As a high god, it should have been easy for her to curse the god of disaster to death. But the god of disaster possesses that mirror, which grants him the Disaster Diverting ultimate ability.

Thanks to this ultimate ability, she can’t just write that the god of disaster will die by running into the god of crime, even though she knows his true name. The Disaster Diverting ultimate ability will prevent the curse from sticking to him.

The Disaster Diverting ultimate ability might even reflect her curse back onto her. So she has to do the hard work of stalking the god of disaster and hunting him.

Now that her plan has worked, there is no way that he will be able to avoid his fate. She controlled the web that was trapping the god of disaster to slowly squeeze and crush him.

She also used the Fate Cutting divine ability. This made the webs become as sharp as blades. So it was more like they were shredding him into pieces, not crushing him to death.

The god of disaster was pressed to the brink of death. His outer bodies were destroyed one after the other. With no hope in sight, he used the rank 9 Disaster Avoiding divine ability.

He combined the power of Disaster Avoidance ultimate ability with the Disaster Diverting divine ability. So, as soon as he activated this divine ability, his figure disappeared from the webbing. Someone else had appeared to replace him.

The Disaster Avoiding divine ability can allow angels of disaster to avoid disaster by putting something in their place. They can put a rock or a log of wood in their place. That rock will withstand the danger for them while they escape.
