Chapter 2599: Enslave Vs Control.

Something with a body, mind, and energy should be possible to enslave. Or so they thought.

They quickly discovered that having a body and a mind wasn’t enough to enslave the corroded part of their existence because it is a part of them, and they can’t enslave themselves.

At this point, they were inclined to end this experiment and take a break to come up with another solution. But Legion-10 still wanted them to try the rank 9 Web of Control divine ability, so they did.

The Web of Control divine ability took effect immediately and created a web of power and energy throughout their existence. This web took control of their existence, including the fat worms and the corrupted part of their existence. But it also came at the high cost of splitting their minds.

The Web of Control didn’t stop the fat worms from siphoning their divine energy, multiplying, and corroding their existence. The authority of slavery was still doing that even though the Web of Control had gained preliminary control of it.

The only difference now is that they can control the corroded part of their existence, like they used to be able to do before the corrosion of the fat worms. But their existence was still being corroded, and the fat worms were still multiplying, which was putting a great strain on their mind.

They didn’t know if it was a good thing that they had gained control of the fat worms because the Web of Control had to tear a part of their minds and place it in a fat worm in order to control it.

Since the fat worms were already more than thirty thousand and were on their way to becoming a hundred thousand, it means that their mind were in danger of scattering.

Their current state of existence reminded them of the first time they liberated their existence into their divine form. At that point, they had suddenly gained many eyes, and their minds were strained by the sensation coming from their numerous worm bodies.

That experience was bad, but they were able to handle it because they had one mind and their mind was very powerful. But this experience is worse because their mind was being fragmented piece by piece, and each piece was stuffed into a fat worm that had fused with their existence.

If not for the Cognitive Adaptation divine ability, which helped their mind to remain stable, they would have given up on this attempt. Without the Cognitive Adaptation divine ability, it was simply impossible to withstand the pain of a constantly fracturing mind and sort out the sensations from the fragments of their minds in the various parts of their existence.

The Cognitive Adaptation divine ability helped their mind remain sane and also gave them the time they needed for the Offensive Adaptation divine ability and the Environmental Adaptation divine ability to take effect.

The Offensive Adaptation divine ability let them overcome the struggle of the fat worms and helped them maintain control of their corroded existence despite the vehement struggle of the fat worms to consume and corrode the fragmented pieces of their minds within them.

As more fat worms were created, the resistance of the fat worms increased, and the power needed to control each of them also increased. Without the Offensive Adaptation divine ability, they would require more than one piece of a fragment of their minds to control one fat worm.

Not only that, without the Offensive Adaptation divine ability, the fat worms would also be able to devour the fragments of their minds and use them to grow. So their attempt to control the fat works by using the Web of Control divine ability would have backfired and only made the fat worms corrode their mind faster.

As for the Environmental Adaptation divine ability, it made their existence adapt to the corruption of the fat worms. This worked to speed up the rate of corruption.

The effect of the Environmental Adaptation divine ability on the fat worms caught them off guard, though. They expected the Environmental Adaptation divine ability to stall the fat worms and slow down the speed of the corruption, not to speed it up.

So at first, they thought that the fat worms had turned the Environmental Adaptation divine ability on them. But as they sensed the effect of the Environmental Adaptation divine ability, they realized that it was working in their best interests by making their existence more aligned with the fat worms.

They noticed that the limit of power of the part of their existence that had been corroded had increased by another fold. The only time such a thing has happened to them is when they are breaking through.

The last time that the limit of power of their existence had increased was when they fused completely with the authority and became the god of the pathway. This happened just before they went to meet the god of knowledge.

So, apparently, the corrosion of the fat worms is a good thing for them. By resisting it, they were only harming themselves and obstructing their growth.

It is clear now that the faster their existence was corroded, the faster they would become strong. This is why the Environmental Adaptation divine ability decided to push this along.

This is also why the web of control couldn’t stop the fat worms from continuing to multiply and control their existence. After all, to stop this process is to stop their advancement to become the god of slavery.

Of course, there is still the need for them to maintain control of their existence. This is the side effect of this unorthodox method of becoming the god of the pathway.

The Environmental Adaptation divine ability also helped with this by making the fat worms think that Legion’s existence was very compatible with them, so they reduced their resistance to control. Even the corrosion of the fat worms on the fragments of their minds stopped being harmful and painful.
