Thanks to the Invulnerability ultimate ability, te fat worms had finally lost their connection to Legion’s divine energy, so they stopped spreading and became docile.

This made Legion-4 sigh in relief and say, “Fortunately, we managed to stop it. That was too terrifying.”

Legion-2 wasn’t so optimistic. He shook his head and said, “This solution is only temporary. The root of the problem hasn’t been solved, so I expect that the fat worms will resume their infection as soon as we stop using the Invulnerability ultimate ability or when we run out of divine energy.”

Legion-6 asked, “What kind of infection is this anyway? It is too powerful. If it can affect even a god as powerful as us, then it is no wonder so many angels of slavery who tried to control the authority of slavery died in the attempt.”

Legion-1 replied, “I think this infection is the process of gaining control of the authority of slavery. If we can withstand the infection or enslave the fat worms or eliminate the fat worms or subdue the fat worms, we should be able to gain control of the authority.”

Legion-3 groaned in dismay and said, “So many possible options. So many possible goals. But which one is the right one? How can we tell which goal to try to accomplish? And how do we decide how to go about achieving the goal we pick?”

Legion-10 asked, “Can our Rewind divine ability work if the fat worms corrode our existence and kill us?”

Legion-8 replied, “Judging by how the Phantom Escape divine ability didn’t work on the corrupted part of our existence, I doubt the Rewind divine ability will be able to work once the fat worms take it over.”

Legion-11 also added, “After thinking about it, I believe that even if the Rewind and Restore divine ability works, it is highly likely that it will consider the corrupted part of our existence as normal, so it won’t restore it.”

Legion-7 asked them, “Is this it? Are we going to die?”

Legion-12 said, “Let’s look at this, not from the perspective of something that is trying to kill us but from the perspective of something testing us and wanting us to prove that we are worthy of becoming the god of slavery.”

Legion-1 nodded and said in agreement, “Exactly. If we change our perspectives and stop thinking about it as a process of us dying, we might be able to actually control this authority.”

Legion-3 thought about their situation and said, “If what you say is true and this is really just the process of controlling the authority of slavery, then by common sense, the solution should lie in the divine abilities of the pathway of slavery. I suspect that the rank 9 divine ability of the pathway of slavery should be an important part of the solution.”

Legion-2 said, “The god of knowledge gave us two methods for gaining control of the authority of slavery. The first method involves the divine body of the pathway of slavery. Since our divine body is a body of worms, I think the possible solution is fighting the fat worms of the authority of slavery for control.”

Legion-4 nodded his head and said, “The god of knowledge also said that we can use our minds to gain control of the authority of slavery without using our divine body. He said that we had to prevent the authority from enslaving us if we wanted to gain control of it.”

Legion-8 suggested, “Once we use the mark of slavery on the fat worms, we should be able to control them. I don’t think we will need the Web of Control divine ability anymore after that.”

What Legion-8 said made sense to Legion-10, so Legion-10 said, “You might be right. But there is only one way to find out.”

Legion-11 sighed and said, “I guess we have decided then. The only thing to worry about is the consequences of failure.”

Legion-1 said, “We can always pause and take a break with the Invulnerability ultimate ability if our plan doesn’t work. Then we will think of another plan.”

What he said gave them the confidence to try out their plan. It also made it important that they not run out of divine energy, so they quickly put an end to the Invulnerability ultimate ability, so that they will have the divine energy to use it soon.

As soon as the Invulnerability ultimate ability stopped working, the fat worms regained their connection to their existence, and the corroded part of their existence also became active.

Even though there was a large distance between them and their corrupted part, the fat black worms were able to instantly cross the distance between them and appear directly within their body and mind.

It was a repeat of what had happened earlier. The fat worm was able to bypass the defense of their Aegis Shield and directly appear in their existence through the connection it has with them.

From there, the fat worms began to corrode the remaining part of their existence that had gone unscathed by the earlier attempt to enslave them.

In response to this, Legion used the Mark of Slavery divine ability on one of the fat worms. But the mark of slavery didn’t latch onto it because it had no mind or soul of its own.

So the fat worms couldn’t be enslaved. This outcome made them panic a little bit, but they still didn’t give up. They decided to target the corroded part of their existence to enslave it.

The corroded part of their existence has granted the fat worms a body, a mind, and some divine energy. So it should be possible to enslave it.
