GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2589: The Ultimate Betrayal.

Chapter 2589: The Ultimate Betrayal.

The god of nobles didn’t have any reason to suspect the god of telepathy. After all, the god of telepathy has no reason to fight him and has already acquired all three pathways he needs to create a supreme authority.

Besides, this kind of shameless, underhanded tactic is exactly what he expected from the god of crime. Not that it would have helped if he suspected anyone else, because there is very little he can do to stop anyone.

Ever since the god of crime used the Rebellion ultimate ability on him, his divine ability has turned on him. The effect of this insidious ultimate ability has only gotten worse.

Over time, he realized that his divine abilities would attack him as long as he used them. So it doesn’t matter if he wants to use the divine abilities against the god of crime or anyone else; his divine abilities will always backfire on him.

And as time passed, he realized that the situation would only get worse. Not only would he become unable to use the divine abilities at all, but the divine abilities would soon turn on him and rebel without doing anything.

So after a while, his divine abilities will rebel and kill him. It is either that, or his divine body will rebel, and he will lose control. If the latter were to happen, he would still die.

This special situation has made it so that anyone can easily kill him. Even the weak god of disaster can kill him. So there was no need for the Empire of Nobles to be destroyed.

But Legion didn’t know that the god of nobles had already been severely handicapped by the god of crime. This made them very serious about destroying the foundation of the god of nobles.

Even though they now had a new helper, they didn’t trust that he would be able to block anyone who came to help the god or nobles. So they quickened their pace.

Since the god of nobles didn’t try to stop them, their progress in killing the nobles was very fast. This was unexpected for Legion.

Another thing that was unexpected was that no one had come to help the god of nobles. Not even the god of death and the god of disaster showed up.

What they were doing couldn’t be hidden from the gods. Many gods had been looking towards the god of nobles in preparation for the attack of the god of crime and error. So they saw nobles dying left and right, yet they didn’t see the god of nobles resisting or his allies coming to save him.

Eventually, some god couldn’t sit still anymore. These gods also thought that the god of crime and error was the one responsible for the death of the nobles. They didn’t want the god of crime and error to succeed, so they came out to fight.

The god of fate, the god of travelers, the god of knowledge, and the god of merchants came out. But before they could do anything, Legion’s new helper stood up to them to block their way.

But instead of attacking them, he said, “Don’t worry, the god of crime isn’t the one responsible for this. This is a plan to undermine him.”

When the god of knowledge heard what the phantom god said, he said in understanding, “I see. Good plan.”

The god of merchants didn’t understand what was going on or what was good about the current situation, so she asked, “What is the plan?”

The phantom god explained, “Instead of waiting around all the time for the god of crime to kill the god of nobles, we decided to take matters into our hands. We decided to kill the god of nobles, take his authorities, hide the authorities, and seal them, so that the god of crime wouldn’t be able to get them.”

The god of merchants clapped and said, “That’s indeed a good plan.”

The god of fate was still skeptical and used her divine abilities to make sure that the person responsible for this wasn’t the god of crime and that this whole explanation of a great plan wasn’t a ruse to fool them.

What she found was that it was the god of telepathy who was responsible for the death of so many nobles in such a short amount of time. This discovery, combined with the endorsement of the god of knowledge, made her stop being suspicious.

The god of fate even became enthusiastic about the plan. She used more of her divine abilities to predict the future and said, “This matter can’t be hidden from the god of crime for long. I’m sure that he will come soon to stop it. We should band together to stop him.”

Before the others could speak, the god of travelers gritted his teeth in anger and said, “Agreed. I will never let that scum succeed.”

Many people hate the god of crime, but there is probably no one who hates the god of crime more than the god of travelers. His hatred makes him highly dedicated to stopping the god of crime.

The other gods didn’t hate the god of crime as much as the god of travelers, but they agreed to stop the god of crime if only for the fact that they had the advantage of numbers. With this kind of advantage, they didn’t mind spoiling things for the god of crime.

Just as the god of fate had predicted, the god of crime and error discovered the death of nobles. He didn’t know why it was happening, but he knew that he had to step forward to take the two authorities in the possession of the god of nobles.

Unfortunately for him, when he arrived at the scene, he found that there were five gods waiting for him there. What was most painful was that all five gods were high gods who had fused completely with their pathway.
