GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2568: Tussle For Authority.

Chapter 2568: Tussle For Authority.

The severing of the connection between his body and mind made it impossible for the god of illusion to control his body. This made the god of illusion unable to resist as his body was torn apart.

Not only had his body lost the enhancement of his divine power now that his soul was no longer connected to his body, but the god of illusion also couldn’t even move his body to resist the virtual body.

So the virtual body was able to easily tear his body apart and even destroy all of his souls. This marked the end of the god of illusion.

Once the number of souls available became too small to maintain the pathway, the authority of the pathway separated from the body of the god of illusion and appeared in the world.

The god of justice saw this and became angry. But he wasn’t too worried yet.

He said to himself, “As long as I stop him from taking the authority away, I can still salvage this situation.”

The god of illusion is dead, but all is not lost. He can still prevent the god of telepathy, his new enemy, from growing stronger. His confidence in achieving this lies in the fact that gaining physical access to an authority doesn’t mean that one would be able to control that authority or fuse with it.

Gaining control of an authority is a very difficult problem. This is a problem that is preventing many people from becoming gods and preventing many gods from gaining control of an alternative pathway.

Usually, the three pathways that are compatible with each other can gain control of an authority that doesn’t belong to their original pathway with a little resourcefulness. But there can be complications that prevent gaining control of an authority that doesn’t belong to one’s original pathway.

Even the authority of a pathway is very difficult for the godclads in the pathway to gain control of it. The authority of the pathway of light, for instance, is a star. Anyone who wants to gain control of it will have to suffer the heat of the star.

No one in the pathway of light has been able to bear the heat of the star, so there has not been a god of light. No one has been able to touch the authority of the pathway of undying, either because it always uses its ultimate ability to escape, so there has never been a god of undying either.

There are many such cases of the godclads of a pathway being unable to meet the conditions needed to gain control of the authority of their pathway. This difficulty only increases when the pathway is an alternative pathway, not the original one.

For example, even though the god of nobles is powerful and the alternative pathway of nobles is that of the pathway of knights and the pathway of slavery, the god of nobles hasn’t been able to gain control of the authority of the pathway of slavery despite being in possession of it for such a long time.

All of these are why the god of justice didn’t think that the worst had happened yet. He is confident in stopping the virtual body from taking the Mirror of the World away, so he is still confident in handling the situation.

His confidence rose when he sensed the success of his vessel in meeting the requirements to take control of the authority of the pathway of knights.

Back in the headquarters of the church of justice, Captain Isaac had just advanced to the legendary realm. He has gained the strength needed to fight the legendary noble that destroyed his army and nearly killed.

It can be said that he has become a force to be reckoned with in this world. Not only has he gained a lifespan of 500 years, but he has also gained a divine body liberation that will enhance his power.

He is no longer the small fry that had to run for his life while the men in his army died screaming in pain. But as he watched the fight going on between the five gods, he felt like an ant once again.

The five gods were not targeting him or anyone else. But the repercussions of their actions were causing untold death and destruction to the world.

The mere appearance of the divine body of the five gods was causing nameless mortals and godclads alike to die in droves. He was safe from the spiritual impact of seeing the divine body of a god, but a stray attack from any of the gods could kill him many times over.

As he watched everyone dying because of the fight between a few gods, he realized that he was still an ant. He also realized that not only was he an ant, but everyone else was an ant like him, and that there was no difference between them compared to the gods.

He said with painful understanding, “When elephants fight, the grass beneath them suffers.”

Then he gritted his teeth and said, “This is the truth, but I don’t want to be a grass. And I don’t want other people to be treated like grass.”

He raised his bloodshot eyes to the sky and said, “I want to bring down the gods and make them equal with us. I want to be a god killer.”

As he said this, a giant blade hidden somewhere turned its attention to him and began to resonate with him. When this happened, all of the memories of his life as the god of justice that had been cut away by the giant blade and stored with it began to surface in his mind.

This made him realize his identity. Not only that, but he also realized his purpose.

His eyes lit up with a glowing spiritual light as he said, “I understand.”

He knew what to do now, so he didn’t ask any questions when a subordinate god of the god of justice came to him and handed him a rank 8 divine flesh of the pathway of knights.
