If ANNIHILATION had killed them, then everything they had done would also be erased, and everyone would forget about them. But ANNIHILATION wasn’t the one who killed them, so the Revive and Restore divine ability took effect and resurrected them.

Since they are still alive, the person who killed them cannot be ANNIHILATION. If ANNIHILATION isn’t the one who killed them, then someone must have made it look like ANNIHILATION killed them.

The one person who can make such a realistic scene of ANNIHILATION killing them had to be the god of illusion. They know this because they are very familiar with the divine abilities of the pathway of illusion.

The fact that they are currently in a conflict with the god of illusion made them sure of this conjecture. But it also made them angry that they allowed themselves to be deceived.

Actually, if the attack of the god of illusion had been used against their true body, it wouldn’t have worked because their Aegis Shield would have blocked the Nightmare divine ability from taking effect on them at all.

But the attack had been used on their virtual body. Their virtual body didn’t have the Aegis Shield since it could only use the divine abilities of the pathway of telepathy.

Once the Nightmare divine ability took effect on their virtual body, ANNIHILATION was able to appear in their minds. From then on, the power of the attack couldn’t be stopped because their minds had become their greatest enemy.

The Nightmare divine ability exploited their fear of ANNIHILATION and took advantage of them through their virtual body. So it wasn’t exactly their fault that they were killed. But this didn’t make them feel good.

In fact, mental influences shouldn’t have affected them at all because of their possession of the Cognitive Adaptation divine ability. But this illusion affected them because the appearance of ANNIHILATION was something that they expected to happen at any moment and never doubted when it began to happen.

They felt ashamed and angry that they had been deceived. They also felt ashamed that they were afraid of ANNIHILATION.

But this time, the god of illusion got them cleanly. He killed every one of them at the same time and would have been able to do so even if they were split into many bodies.

This achievement made them both hate and admire him. This changed nothing about their intention to kill him, though. After all, they don’t discriminate and will kill regardless of love or hate for a target.

This time, Legion didn’t hold back at all. They killed every single believer of the god of illusion that they identified, instead of brainwashing them.

They did this because shattering and destroying a mind was easier than hypnotizing the mind to stop believing in the god of illusion. Since the god of illusion already knew that they were the ones behind the loss of faith, there was no use for the secrecy that hypnotizing provided.

Since killing is faster than hypnotizing, Legion was getting rid of the believers of the god of illusion at a faster rate. In fact, their rate of getting rid of the believers increased tenfold. So they were getting rid of 500 thousand believers per day now.

This rate will only increase as Legion invests more divine energy to create more virtual copies of its mind to assist its virtual body. This is stressful on their divine energy supply and their minds because they have to control the virtual copies directly, as it is the only way to bypass the illusion that prevents the minds of the believers of the god of illusion from being seen.

But Legion is willing to make this sacrifice if only to win back their honor. Their dedication to killing the god of illusion ensured that not only did the virtual body return, but it also returned stronger than before and with a burning need for vengeance.

This turn of events took the god of illusion off guard. He rose from his seat in shock and looked at them as if he were seeing a ghost.
