Chapter 2556: So Cocky.
Chapter 2556: So Cocky.
The god of illusion was waiting and watching for the right opportunity to make a lethal move on the god of telepathy. So this first move is an action to draw out the god of telepathy.
As he was waiting, he said to himself, “I hope this god of telepathy is not easily scared like the god of dreams. But even if he is scared, he will have to fight me and defeat me, or he will never be able to fuse with the Seed of Dreams.”
He grinned to himself as he thought of how he had trapped the god of telepathy.
When the god of dreams had targeted his believers through their dreams, he had used the invisibility move to put an end to the act. He made the dreams of his believers invisible, so the god of dreams couldn’t target his believers anymore.
After he made that move, if the god of dreams still wanted to harm him, the god of dreams had to fight him directly. But the god of dreams was too weak to dare to fight him, so the god of dreams hid in the dream realm and didn’t come out.
The god of illusion was hoping that the god of telepathy would be more confident about themselves. And as he waited, he got the answer to that question.
The god of telepathy did appear. The god of illusion saw the large divine body of the god of telepathy take action. It was a giant bird that seemed to be surrounded by mist, so its form wasn’t clear.
Other gods might not be able to notice the presence of such a giant being roaming the world, but thanks to the Mirror of the World, the god of illusion could see this giant bird and could even attack it.
The god of telepathy laughed and said, “So cocky. So full of yourself. Just because you took down the god of dreams doesn’t mean that you can take me down.”
As he said this, he targeted the large bird in the mirror and used the rank 5 Nightmare divine ability and the rank 9 Permanent Illusion divine ability together with the Mirror of the World.
Then he laughed and said, “Crumble and fall.”
The Nightmare divine ability causes a target to encounter a powerful enemy that they are afraid of. The more powerful the enemy, the more powerful the nightmare will be.
But the effect of the Nightmare divine ability is purely mental. After all, it is an illusion. The powerful enemy isn’t real, and whatever effect the nightmare has on the target is only temporary.
The Permanent Illusion divine ability converts temporary illusions into permanent changes in the world. When combined with the Nightmare divine ability, any damage created by the nightmare becomes real and permanent.
As long as someone has a weakness, this combination will work on them to great effect. And as long as the two divine abilities are used through the Mirror of the World, the attack cannot be avoided or evaded.
This is why the god of illusion is so confident. And history has proven many times that his confidence is not unfounded.
On the other side, Legion had to take action with their virtual body because their virtual copies had failed. The virtual body was more powerful than the virtual copies and also had the assistance of the Mindscape, so the trick that made the minds of the believers of the god of illusion become invisible didn’t work on him.
Legion was wondering to them about why their virtual copies were failing to see the minds of their targets when the sky suddenly disappeared and was replaced by an all-consuming darkness.
The world of tenebrum is dark, but the darkness that took over the world was darker than dark. As Legion looked up at the sky, they saw nothingness. This nothingness was destroying everything and spreading quickly towards them, so they knew that they were doomed.
Darkness is something. But what was coming for them was nothingness. It was nothingness created after everything is annihilated.
As they watched the whole world disappear around them, they knew that their end had come. This caused Legion to sigh and lament, “Unfortunately, we were still a step too late. I guess the end of Legion is inevitable.”
They’ve seen this scene before and have been preparing for it, so they know what’s coming for them, and they know what’s going to happen. But even as they were going to be annihilated, they didn’t cry or pity themselves.
As someone who has done their utmost best, they can die without regrets. If there is one thing that they regret, it is that they didn’t have more time.
Legion-1 said, “If only we had more time.”
This was the last thought that they had as their virtual body was destroyed. They know the power of ANNIHILATION, so they expected that the destruction wouldn’t end there. As it turned out, they were right to think that because that’s exactly what happened.
After their virtual body was destroyed, the power of ANNIHILATION struck the Mindscape. The Mindscape offered no resistance and was being eroded inch by inch.
But the power of ANNIHILATION wasn’t really targeting the Mindscape. Most of the power of the Absolute was concentrated on them, so their existence was going to be erased before the Mindscape was destroyed.
Legion had resigned themselves to fate, so they didn’t bother to resist. Not that it would make any difference. The power of ANNIHILATION is absolute, and they don’t even have a supreme law.
Their precious Aegis Shield crumbled at the slightest touch, and their true body was also erased. This was all done quickly, and there was no suspense.
It didn’t matter that Legion had nine outer bodies to defend them. Everything was destroyed, and they died there and then.
That would have been the end for them if not for the fact that what had killed them wasn’t truly the power of ANNIHILATION but the power of another god like them.
