Chapter 2538: Suicidal Actions.

Now that divinity had started to flood the three souls of the god of dreams, there was no way to stop its effects. Legion-12 could only watch as the god of dreams stopped holding back and allowed his authority to completely corrupt his existence.

As he did this, divinity from the Seed of Dreams gushed into his soul. His divine power began to increase rapidly because of this, and he quickly became stronger.

This is a bad thing for the god of dreams to do since he has already reached the limit of what his three souls can handle from his authority. Any more divinity will corrupt his soul and make him lose his mind.

This is something he didn’t want to do before. But times have changed. He no longer has any fantasy about becoming a great god of two pathways, and he doesn’t have any illusion of being able to live. So he threw caution to the wind and did the very thing that would doom him.

In exchange for his reckless actions, he gained great power. And in exchange for great power, he gave up his mind.

His soul was filled to the bursting with power. The power was too much for him to control, so the will of the original god of dreams, who was cut apart to create the pathway of dreams, began to awaken within him.

The side effect of the will of the original god of dreams’ awakening was the scrambling of the current god of dreams’ mind. Not only was it already difficult for Legion-12 to continue to erode his mind, but this strange will was also delaying their work.

This made Legion-12 say to the god of dreams, “Fine. Fine. Since you want to be so unreasonable, I will let you go. I didn’t know that you could become so desperate. If I had known, I wouldn’t have bothered with you.”

As he said this, he deployed the Hypnotize divine ability and the Sensory Hijack divine ability. The Sensory Hijack divine ability went first, while the Hypnotize divine ability took effect after.

The Sensory Hijack divine ability covered the mind of the god of dreams with a layer of haze that clouded his perception of the world. Then the Hypnotize divine ability began to inject new thoughts into the mind of the god of dreams.

Because of these two divine abilities, the god of dreams saw Legion-12 retreat from his mind. He also began to think to himself, “It worked. I have to stop this or there will be no going back.”

The god of dreams was still skeptical, though. He thought to himself, “It worked? I can’t believe that it worked.”

He couldn’t believe that his desperate action actually worked. He felt like there might be a trick here, but no matter what trick was going on, the fact remained that he didn’t want to die.

If Legion-12 is willing to back off, even if it is only temporarily, he is willing to stop the Seed of Dreams from corrupting his existence. So he stopped receiving divinity from the authority.

This still can’t save his existence because the amount of divinity in his soul has become too much for him to handle. His mind is still being corrupted by the extra divinity, so he will still die. But not soon.

This gave him some hope of surviving this ordeal. He said to himself, “If I can start a religion before I lose my mind completely, I will be able to use faith to withstand the extra amount of divinity and live.”

While this was going on, Legion-12 was still using Gestalt Mind divine ability on the core of the mind of the god of dreams. But he didn’t know.

Actually, Legion-12 should have been able to fuse with the mind of the god of dreams by now. He has been unable to do so because another ego was awakening in the god of dreams’ mind.

This ego is what is corrupting the mind of the god of dreams. This second ego is also what is delaying the effect of the Gestalt Mind divine ability.

The worst part is that the second ego is only getting stronger over time. The longer he fails to fuse the copy of his mind with the two egos, the more difficult it will become to do so.

This situation made Legion-12 say to himself, “Should I just destroy the two egos and kill the god of dreams directly instead of trying to enslave him?”

He already has a way to destroy the mind of the god of dreams. He can use the Mental Armament divine ability and the Mind Howl divine ability.

These two divine abilities will surely be able to destroy his mind. The problem is that he can’t attack the mind of the god of dreams in an attempt to destroy it, or he will never be able to use the Gestalt Mind divine ability to convert the god of dreams to their cause.

He really wants to convert the god of dreams, but in this situation, the second ego makes it nearly impossible to do so. While he was struggling to decide what to do, the subordinate god of dreams arrived.

Legion-12 quickly made her use the Lullaby divine ability on the god of dreams. The effect of this divine ability was immediate. The two egos in the mind of the god of dreams began to relax and stopped resisting the Gestalt Mind divine ability. This meant that Legion-12 could finally convert the god of dreams.

But the god of dreams was still the god of the pathway of dreams and still in control of the Seed of Dreams. He couldn’t resist the divine abilities of the pathway of telepathy, but there was no way that the divine abilities of the pathway of dreams could subdue him without his knowledge.

When the Lullaby divine ability took effect on him, he realized that something was wrong, and what he was experiencing was not real. This made him begin to resist again.
