GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2535: Two Negotiating Divine Beings.

The seer was insulting Legion and calling them a prideful fool who thinks he is the strongest person in the world and can defeat every god in existence simply because he managed to defeat the god of dreams as a godling.

But Legion-12 didn’t take offense at the insult. He remained confident as he said, “I know that not every god is the same. I am not a fool. Or did you think that I managed to survive and grow this strong because I was lucky, not because I was smart?”

Then he said, “Just as I know that every god is not the same, I also want you to know that because you were not scared of the god of dreams doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be scared of me.”

The seer shook his head and said, “Fine. Maybe I should treat you differently. But your deal is not good enough for me.”

“I must have what I was promised by the god of dreams, or this whole endeavor looking for you would have been a loss for me. I did my part, so I must have what I was promised.”

“I am not being unreasonable as you put it. don’t want to have wasted my time, so you must give me what the god of dreams promised me, or I will try to recoup my losses through other methods. I believe that is a reasonable course of action.”

Legion-12 looked at the seer again and said, “I know what the god of seer promised you, and I think that it is crazy. I think it is suicidal that a weak god such as him wants to help you fight the god of knowledge.”

The seer disagreed. “His decision to help me wasn’t suicidal. He made that promise because he was sure that he would grow stronger after getting the Mind Palace. If he had succeeded, his power would have doubled, and he would have been able to preserve his life better.”

“Besides, what he promised to do was to target the angels and godlings in the pathway of knowledge, not the god of knowledge himself. So he wasn’t really biting more than he could chew.”

“As the god of dreams, he has the right tool to eliminate those godclads silently without drawing too much attention to himself. There is also the ultimate ability of the Mind Palace. If he had gained it, it would make fulfilling his part of the deal easier.”

Legion-12 said, “You’ve made a lot of good points, but I still think it is suicidal of him to target the god of knowledge. There is a good reason that the god of knowledge let the pathway of knowledge exist even after fusing completely with it. If anyone messes with the pathway of knowledge, it would be the same as attacking the god of knowledge.”

“There is no way that the god of knowledge is going to let something like that go without swift and powerful retaliation. The god of dreams is just not powerful enough to deal with the god of knowledge, even with the Mind Palace, so I still think he was overestimating himself when he made that promise.”

The seer nodded and said, “Maybe you’re right. In that case, I will say that it is a good thing for me that you will be taking the place of the god of dreams. After all, you’re different from the god of dreams. You’re much stronger.”

Legion-12 chuckled and said, “I haven’t agreed to help you yet.”

The seer insisted, “But you will. I have seen it.”

“You have to agree because disagreeing will create more problems than agreeing. On one hand is offending the god of knowledge, and on the other hand is offending the god of illusion and his helpers, the god of nobles, the god of disaster, and the god of death.”

The seer thought that calling out the names of four gods was going to scare Legion-12. But this wasn’t the case because Legion-12 was going to offend three of them anyway.

The god of illusion is in control of a pathway that is compatible with the pathway of telepathy and the pathway of dreams. The god of nobles is in control of a pathway that is compatible with the pathway of slavery and the pathway of knights.

Finally, the god of death is in control of a pathway that is compatible with the pathway of undying and the pathway of life. So three out of the four gods are going to be Legion’s enemies one way or another. It is just a matter of time before they try to kill him or he tries to kill them.

Becoming the enemy of the three gods is inevitable. On the other side, becoming the enemy of the god of knowledge is something that he doesn’t want to do. If he takes the god of seer’s deal, he would be offending the god of knowledge while also preparing to offend the four gods.

So Legion-12 said to the seer, “It is not as simple as you make it out to be.”

“The god of illusion, the god of death, the god of nobles, and the god of disaster have the advantage of number. But they are weak individually. None of them can compare to the individual power of the god of knowledge.”

“Besides, it is not even certain that the god of illusion is an ally of the god of nobles and the other two. It is most likely that he was simply hired for a job and not part of the alliance of the god of nobles, the god of death, and the god of disaster.”

“The god of dreams might have been too scared to take the risk to antagonize the god of illusion. But I’m not so easy to cower.”

The seer clapped with its tiny hands and said, “Well said. How about I up the ante? How about I offer to help you find something that you want?”
