Chapter 1666: Stone chambers

Nocturnal Forests:

The more I looked at the entangled trees, the stranger I found them. Because it didn’t appear to be natural.

I continued to circle around the formations. I confirmed that the trees were not a type of monster. My gaze then fell on the stone.

The stone was uneven yet neatly cut on all sides.

I raised my eyebrows in surprise. Because this rock cut didn’t appear to be normal. I used the system function. The system results came back positive.

Hearing that, I was stunned. The rock cut was not natural but man made. How come man made structures were here?

Slowly, I started to realize. The entangled trees were like a cage structure. It could be the result of man made work as well.

My eyes glinted with understanding. Maybe I had found old ruins here.

“Otto, follow my voice and come here with Patrick. Looks like I have an old ruin structure here,” I said in a low tone, hoping that it would reach Otto’s ears.

Shortly afterwards,

Otto came with Patrick. They greeted me the next second. Then their gazes fell on the entangled trees.

Not long after, they saw the old stone. It was a perfectly cut stone.

“It was man made,” Otto uttered.

“Let’s search. We could find more similar structures here,” Patrick said.

Hearing that, I said, “Let’s do that.”

The next second, both the supreme wizards started their work. They started to dig the ground. It didn’t take long for them to find another neatly cut stone.

Seeing that, they were convinced that they might be standing on old ruins. Otto and Patrick became more interested.

The old ruin structures could have underground structures with room chambers.

They started digging around the tree formations. Everyone was doing it fast. No one wanted others to find out about them.

Twenty minutes later,

Otto found the stone entrance to the possible underground ruin. He then told Patrick and me.

Seeing that, we stopped our work and came to his side. Then we started helping Otto. We quickly confirmed that the stone entrance was actually a stone door.

They started clearing the sand and weeds around the stone door. Once the cleaning was done, Otto and Patrick were ready to open the stone door.

I was standing behind them. I started using the system to confirm the place. The system results showed that there was a chamber inside the underground area.

Creak!

Otto opened the door. They saw stone stairs leading underground.

Gasp!

Patrick gasped in surprise. The three of us exchanged looks.

Otto said, “There are indeed chambers hidden below.”

“Let’s go inside and explore the chambers,” I said to them.

Hearing that, both Patrick and Otto nodded their heads. Then the three of us went inside the passage. The passage was small. It was 7ft tall and 2 meters wide.

The passage was dark and covered in dust and debris.

“Just one or two rooms are enough. We can explore the rest of the passages later,” I said to them.

“Okay, Master,” Otto said.

Patrick thought of something before looking for signs of any tree roots. Outside, the giant tree roots entangled together to form a cage. So, their roots must have gone down below.

Otto used magic power to check whether any monsters were hiding in the place.

[Ding! Warning!]

[A level-9 Wizard was detected nearby.]

The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, I looked at Otto and Patrick. The ruin was important. Who knows? There could be monsters here.

It was better for them to explore the place first. I would go and see the intruder. Then I exited from the stone passage.

I walked out and left the tree cage formations. Then I spotted an old man coming towards the tree. I used the system to check whether anyone else was nearby.

The system results said that no one else was near the place.

Swoosh!

The next second, I bolted out towards the old man.

The old man was a dying level-9 Wizard. He was working for one of the local forces here. His job was to scout new routes for the wizard teams.

He randomly came here. He found signs of wizards trespassing here, so he was moving forward to check out the place.

But he didn’t expect someone to appear before him in a flash. The dying old man got alerted. Before he could use his magic spell or threaten, he found a person appear right before his face.

Swoosh!

I grabbed the old man and appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. Before the old man could say something, I knocked him out.

The old man fell badly on the floor. He was already dying. His mana core was losing vitality. He coughed up blood.

I took the red scroll artifact out. I didn’t want to use it earlier. Right now, I didn’t have any other choice.

I poured mana into the red scroll artifact. The red scroll Artifact glowed crimson red. The next second, two new red orbs shot from the Artifact.

One of them entered my mind and appeared beside the two crimson orbs. The next one entered the mana core space of the dying old man.

The dying old man suddenly felt vitality surge in. He opened his eyes and felt refreshed. Seeing that new ability of the Red scroll Artifact, I was dumbfounded.

I used it for an emergency situation. I didn’t expect to discover a new ability.

“What’s going on here?” The old man mumbled.

He was clearly at death’s door a few seconds ago. Now he felt all good in his body.

I heard his mumbling and took a healing potion out.

“Take this. You are under my control now,” I said to the old man.

The old man was stunned. He turned around and found the same young man standing in front of him. He was shocked to the core.

The next second, he felt overwhelming fear. As if a Supreme Wizard was standing in front of him. The old man didn’t know what was going to happen next.
