Chapter 1665: A small encounter and hideout search

Nocturnal Forest:

As we started moving deeper into the forest, we found that it was taking too much time because we were travelling on a new route.

The vegetation was thicker. We didn’t want to change the terrain too much so that it wouldn’t attract attention.

We wanted to bypass it without cutting down the trees.

So, the three of us stopped and started observing the surroundings, since we had decided to vacate the previous hideout.

It was not good to go back. At the same time, I made a decision in my heart. It would be easy to avoid the current situation by flying high in mid-air.

But if we did that, then there was a risk of exposing our whereabouts. Right now, we didn’t have any other choice.

“Alright, let’s fly higher. Then we can find a safe spot,” I said to them.

Patrick and Otto agreed.

Then we rose above the ground. We appeared in mid-air. Even if someone appeared nearby, Otto would know.

We then started moving forward. The three of us moved smoothly through the air without any problem.

Suddenly, a vine filled with spikes shot towards us.

[10th Order Spike Vine Monster detected.]

The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my heart skipped a beat.

Otto and Patrick appeared before me. Patrick used a magic spell. A green vine came out of the powerful magic circle above him.

The green vine encountered the vine with spikes. Both of them came in contact with each other within seconds.

Boom!

A collision occurred, and a huge shockwave erupted from the impact.

Otto withstood the impact force before it could reach me. The two of them were dealing with the vine monster.

I was standing behind them. I looked down below and tried to notice where the monster attack was coming from.

Deep down in the forest, there was an enormous vine monster spread across the area. Most of its body was underground.

The only remaining part was attacking us.

Patrick destroyed the monster’s vine. He then continued to use the magic spell to drive away the vine monster.

Otto was using his magic to monitor the surroundings. If anyone appeared, he would know.

Time passed by.

After the fierce confrontation, the vine monster withdrew. The rest of the vines disappeared back into the woods.

Otto’s face suddenly changed. He said, “Master, I think someone is coming towards this place. We should leave now.”

“Okay,” I replied.

The next second, we started going towards the depths. In the blink of an eye, we vacated the place.

Shortly afterwards,

A few wizards appeared in mid air. They belonged to a wizard team from the local force here. They were passing by, but the sudden sound drew their attention.

These wizards started to observe the place. They found signs of mana disruption. It meant a fight had happened here.

It was a clear sign of a fight between two powerhouses. The other wizards tried to observe the leftover mana.

It didn’t take long before they realised that a Supreme Wizard had fought here. After knowing that, they looked at each other’s faces, then decided to leave.

They didn’t want to offend someone with a powerful background.

They left the place as well.

The dark forest filled with trees and other vegetation started moving all of a sudden. It was as if a sudden wind force appeared, but there was no wind here at all.

As if the forest was alive, it knew the fight had happened here.

Meanwhile,

We were moving towards the deepest area. At that time, I kept my eyes on the forests down below. I knew Otto and Patrick were monitoring the surroundings.

So, I was paying attention to the forests. After spending a few more hours, we finally saw the bases of the local forces.

These small bases were built on vacant land surrounded by the forest. But there was one different thing about the place.

The vacant land was uneven. It had uneven rocky terrain. As if the bases were built on a huge rocky mountain, but only one-third of the mountain was visible.

The rest of it was underground. Seeing that, I used the system to confirm my doubt.

At that time, Otto and Patrick were observing the place. It was a hidden base of the local forces. They found movements of wizards inside.

“Master, there are people inside. Let’s land on the ground,” Otto said all of a sudden.

“Yes, Master. There is a risk here,” Patrick said.

Hearing that, I recovered my thoughts. The system results showed that I was right. The terrain was uneven here.

“Let’s get down,” I uttered.

Then the three of us landed on the ground. It was still in the middle of the forest. I used the system to check the surroundings.

I didn’t want another monster to attack us. After confirming that the place was safe, I turned towards Otto and Patrick.

“Did you guys find out anything else?” I asked.

Otto said, “Master, it appears most of the people at the base went to the ruin site. The ruin site must be near.”

Patrick said, “Master, let’s find a safe hideout first. Then we can think about the next plan.”

I heard both of their words. Both of them were right. A safe hideout was needed right now. The ruin was not going anywhere.

“Alright, let’s find a place some distance away from the base. Also, be mindful of their travel routes,” I said to them.

Then we decided to split up and search. It was a bit risky, but we had no time. If we wasted more time, then we could come across the wizard teams.

I used the help of the system. If not an underground cave, a well-hidden place would be enough.

I spotted an area filled with trees. The tree branches were entangled with the next tree. They formed a cage-like structure.

A hint of curiosity appeared in my eyes.

I immediately went to the side of the tree and started observing it. If no one paid attention, they would ignore such formations.
