Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Chapter 1661: Reality of the base

Chapter 1661: Reality of the base

Brookspire Town

The observers stationed in Brook spire Town were watching the people entering the city. Suddenly, they noticed three powerful individuals.

There was one Level-9 Wizard flanked by two Supreme Wizards. This setup immediately made them think a certain “young master” had come from the outside.

They needed to be alerted. The spies quickly noted the information and passed the news to their men and the forces backing them.

They didn’t want to offend the newcomers. If a force could dispatch two Supreme Wizards for protection, then that force might have a Forbidden Wizard in their organization.

So, they decided to determine their identities first. Then, they would discuss whether to offend them or not. The Nocturnal Forest was a hot potato for the wizard forces based near this town.

They had been trying to uncover its secrets for many decades. It had become part of their lives. Only if they obtained enough benefits could they move on to better places.

Who knows? They could find a place for themselves inside the Magic City. Then their next generation could join the Mage Union.

It was a dream for many forces. So, they were careful when it came to new faces. They didn’t allow foreign forces to snatch their benefits.

When it came to dealing with such outsiders, they were united.

From MC’s Perspective:

We came to the other end. There was a huge gate ahead. The guards were standing there. Upon seeing us, the guards exchanged looks before opening the door.

It appeared that they had already received the message. We walked through the gate and entered the forest area.

My gaze fell on the signboard. It pointed in the direction of the base. Seeing that, we started walking on foot.

Not long after we left the gate area, we walked quite deep along the path.

I turned towards Otto and asked, “Did you find anything else?”

Patrick perked up his ears.

Otto frowned and said, “Master, the people in disguise were interested in our identity. They thought we were from a certain force, so they didn’t want to offend us without finding our identity first.”

“They are careful,” I uttered.

“I found that their gazes continued to linger on us until we left the gate,” Patrick said from the side.

My eyes flickered. The Nocturnal Forest was not ordinary. There must be some secret hidden here.

We continued walking towards our destination. By following the narrow sand path, we reached the location half an hour later.

We had walked at least a mile, but the place was still on the periphery. The danger zone was still deeper inside.

We stood in front of the place and started observing it. There were many smaller stone and brick buildings, as well as many makeshift tents.

Many wandering wizards lived here alone. If they didn’t find anything useful here, they would leave. Otherwise, they had to pay mana stones to the guard every month.

As I began to observe these things, I became more curious about the stones. It was not easy to implement this rule.

If people didn’t follow it, then you had to use force to teach them a lesson.

As this thought occurred to me, I started looking for a wandering wizard. No one was roaming around. Then, we came across a single woman.

She was dressed in common wizard clothes, the type worn by locals here.

“Hello, we are new to this place. Can you help us with some information? I’ll pay you with mana stones,” I said to her.

Hearing that, the middle-aged woman walking past stopped. Mana stones were the life force here. With more mana stones, you could extend your stay.

The middle-aged woman decided to speak up.

“There are no rules here. Everyone minds their own business. Some have set up their tents here to live alone.”

“A few with backgrounds are living in the stone houses. You can find an empty plot of land and set up your own tent,” she said in a serious tone.

“What about the fights?”

“Do conflicts occur here?” I asked her.

Hearing that, the woman was stunned. Then she started looking around nervously before saying, “Yes, fights often happen here. But no one fights to the death in this base.”

“However, very often corpses are found inside the forest. People blame it on the things living in the forest, but it is often caused by their enemies here.”

“So don’t offend the wrong people. They will target you inside the forest,” she added.

“How about the strongest person living here?”

“Are there any Magic Lords or Forbidden Wizards here?” I asked.

The woman was dumbfounded again. She then shook her head and said, “There are no Magic Lords, let alone Forbidden Wizards. You cannot find them in a remote city. Even in the big cities, such figures are hard to see in public.”

“But you can find Supreme Wizards often here. They belong to the surrounding forces. Those families have been sending their people here for decades.”

“Yet they found no resources so far,” she said.

Hearing that, I understood the situation here. Then I thanked her before paying her 100 mid-grade mana stones.

The woman accepted the pouch and checked it. She was shocked to know that there were 100 mid-grade mana stones inside.

She was hoping to get 10 or so. She then understood that this person must be a big shot. So, she bowed to me before walking away from the place.

When she was gone, I turned towards Otto and Patrick and asked, “Did you guys find anything?”

While I was conversing, Otto and Patrick had been observing the place.

“I found no traces of Supreme Wizards here,” Otto said.

“Either they have not come here yet, or they could have entered the forest,” Patrick said.

Hearing that, my eyes flashed with a gleam.

To be honest, I didn’t need a home. I had a portable home with me. But Patrick and Otto needed one. I could take them inside.

But it was one of my guarded secrets. So, I wasn’t going to reveal it to a third person.
