Chapter 1653: Friendship disappointment
Chapter 1653: Friendship disappointment
From MC’s Perspective:
Inside the mana chamber, I reached my limit. I opened my eyes and decided to take a small break, feeling a slight pain in my veins.
I couldn’t continue the practice. On a whim, I took out my digital device and checked my messages.
I saw texts from Manager Lara and the others. Susan Park, Wilfred Cox, and Jason Nicholson had arrived. They were currently waiting for me in the lobby.
Not only that, but I had to go to Mistfall City as well. I didn’t think the Forbidden Wizards and Elders would make a decision anytime soon.
I had to wait for the day to come, but I couldn’t waste my time right now.
I immediately changed my plan. I would meet with these guys first, then leave for Mistfall City. I stood up and deactivated the switch. The pure mana in the room disappeared in the blink of an eye.
When the mana was gone from the place, I opened the door and walked out. It was a pity; I had wanted to check the outer space item, but I didn’t have time for that.
A hint of hesitation flashed in my eyes.
I started to feel that it wasn’t good for me to keep them waiting any longer. At least, I should make time to use the outer space item in Mistfall City. I left the facility and went back to my room.
About 20 minutes later.
After getting ready, I came to the lobby. I saw Susan Park, Wilfred Cox, Jason Nicholson, and Manager Lara. They were all chatting and laughing, but my arrival attracted their attention.
“Wow!”
“Look who we have here?” Wilfred Cox said.
Hearing that, Susan Park and Jason Nicholson turned towards me. Manager Lara was surprised; she didn’t expect me to come out so soon. She had thought it would take more time.
I smiled and nodded to them before sitting on a chair. My gaze swept across them. Their strength had progressed, but not by much. On the other hand, the three of them were observing me closely.
Their hearts were in turmoil. They felt a sense of danger radiating from me. It was absurd, but it was the truth. The three of them immediately exchanged glances.
They had the same thought: it was as if they were facing a Supreme Wizard, not a Level-9 Wizard.
A serious realization dawned on their faces, Vincent had surpassed them again. He might become a Supreme Wizard before them.
They were Wizard Seeds before him. Yet, he had gone ahead of them.
Manager Lara saw through their thoughts. She could understand their mood, but they didn’t know what kind of danger Vincent had undergone to achieve this progress.
But she knew about it. Even Elder Dana was impressed with his progress.
I withdrew my gaze and asked, “What are you guys up to these days?”
Hearing that, the three of them recovered from their thoughts.
Jason Nicholson smiled and said, “Well, you brought us a huge surprise again. We have to work hard to catch up to you.”
Susan smiled and added, “But don’t think we were the only ones in the Silver Tower. There are other official members as well.”
“Most of them are seniors who broke through before us,” Jason added.
Wilfred Cox paused before saying, “It was surprising that you were able to find resources related to Gravity.”
“I don’t know whether the Forbidden Wizards were helping you,” he added.
Hearing that, Susan and Jason raised their eyebrows. They knew how hard it was to collect resources.
They felt the difficulty despite having strong family backgrounds. So, how did he get resources for himself?
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. These people thought I was getting resources for free.
Everyone’s gazes were on me.
I smiled and replied, “If you participate in more do or die missions, you guys will be rewarded too.”
After saying that, I stood up to leave. The faces of the three of them changed drastically. They didn’t expect me to be displeased.
They were just asking the questions that had been weighing on their minds.
Manager Lara sighed. She didn’t know what these three were thinking, being jealous of someone who had no background.
“I can’t say anything because of confidentiality. But let me tell you, no one is giving Vincent Carey resources for free.”
“Do you think the Elders would remain silent if something like that happened?” she added.
Wilfred Cox touched his forehead; he had spoken before thinking. Susan and Jason felt bad as well.
I looked at them and said, “Alright, I have work to do. We can meet next time.”
After saying that, I left the Silver Tower. I had thought these guys had something interesting to say to me, but they were only thinking about my resources.
I shook my head before putting on my face mask. Then, I started walking towards the main road.
I began scanning the place using the System. I didn’t know if there were any spies here. I had almost forgotten that the Sutton Family members were imprisoned.
I guessed that at this point, the Sutton Family would have learned about me. I had one more enemy family now.
[Ding! Warning]
[Spies detected.]
The System voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, the corners of my mouth curled up. As I expected, there were rats here.
I ignored them and walked up the street. The spies started coming out from their hiding spots.
Once again, they saw someone from the Silver Tower wearing a mask. Last time, everyone had lost the trail.
This time, they were not going to miss it. The spies started reporting to their respective forces. They wanted to find out whether the masked man was Vincent Carey or not.
Meanwhile, I saw that the locals were going about their business. There were no flying cabs yet. But I continued to wait here.
At the same time, my gaze set on the spies.
