Chapter 505 (Massage Chair Extra - )
Bruce held tightly onto Valen’s gradually cooling body, tears blurring his vision.
He raised his head and looked at the approaching reinforcements in the distance, but there was no joy in his heart, Valen’s death was like a heavy sledgehammer smashing against his heart.
Upon returning to Heaven-Sealing Pass, Bruce was unsurprisingly locked up by Adam, he was grounded and confined until the construction of Heaven-Sealing Pass was fully completed.
Inside the prison.
Bruce leaned dejectedly against the wall, hugging his arms and shivering, his mind was still filled with the final scene of Valen’s death, he couldn’t forget those terrified, despairing eyes, he couldn’t forget the sheer powerlessness of being unable to protect his friend.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
"Valen, I’m sorry... I’m so sorry..." Bruce muttered.
Right at that moment, the cell door was pushed open and a figure walked in.
Bruce looked up and saw his Master, a flash of panic crossed his eyes, he didn’t know how to face Adam.
"Master, I..." he choked up, not knowing what to say.
"Do you realize your mistake?" Adam’s voice was icy and stern.
Bruce lowered his head, his voice trembling, "I know I was wrong, Master, I am the one who caused Valen’s death."
"Caused Valen’s death?" Adam’s voice grew even colder.
"You harmed more than just Valen, you damaged the reputation and discipline of all of Heaven-Sealing Pass, you acted on your own authority, completely disregarding the entire pass, this behavior is absolutely intolerable."
Bruce was rendered speechless, only able to silently endure his Master’s reprimand.
"From today onward, until your sentence is complete, you are forbidden from stepping even half a step out into Heaven-Sealing Pass, furthermore, if you ever make a mistake like this again, we will sever our master-disciple relationship," Adam’s voice carried no emotion whatsoever.
Bruce looked up in shock, he hadn’t expected such a harsh decision, but he understood this was a punishment he rightfully deserved.
His heart felt as if a knife were twisting inside it, he desperately wanted to refuse, but he knew he had to accept this reality.
"This is the price you pay for fooling around, you enjoyed the freedom and thrill of sneaking out, now you will bear the guilt for the rest of your life," after speaking coldly, Adam turned and left.
He left not a shred of leniency.
The cell fell into deathly silence, only the sound of Bruce’s breathing echoed, he clenched his fists tightly, his heart filled with anger and unwillingness.
Suddenly, a voice rang out from the adjacent cell, brimming with bewitchment and seduction.
"Bruce, have you ever thought about it? Why did a pack of demonic beasts appear at that exact time, in that exact place? Do you really think that was coincidence?" The voice was deep and magnetic, as if possessing a magical power that forcefully drew his attention.
Bruce raised his head, anger flashing in his eyes, "Are you saying there’s a conspiracy behind this?"
"Of course," the voice answered with certainty.
"Think about it, the demonic beasts, Valen’s death, your imprisonment, is all of this truly accidental? Are the higher-ups of Heaven-Sealing Pass really that pure and innocent?"
Bruce’s heart raced, he had never considered this, all this time, he had been immersed in grief and self-blame, never doubting anyone else’s motives, but now, this voice was like a sharp knife piercing through his mental defenses.
"But why? What use would a beast pack be there? My Master has no reason to harm Valen," Bruce still maintained some rationality, he felt his Master had absolutely no motive for such a thing.
"Do... do you have any proof?"
"Proof?" The voice chuckled softly.
"The proof is right before your eyes, you’ve simply never thought to look for it, don’t you want to seek justice for Valen? Don’t you want to uncover the truth?"
"Even if there is no issue with your Master, with so many people in Heaven-Sealing Pass, who’s to say there aren’t bad people lurking around?"
Bruce fell silent, Valen’s terrified, despairing eyes flashed through his mind, he couldn’t forget the agonizing powerlessness of that moment, nor everything Valen had done with him.
The anger in his heart was ignited once again, he knew he had to do something.
"I..." Bruce took a deep breath, "I will find the truth."
The voice rang out again, carrying satisfaction and anticipation, "Very good, Bruce, I will help you, remember, the truth is often hidden in darkness, only the brave can lift its veil."
The cell fell silent once more, but the flames of hope had been kindled in Bruce’s heart.
In the adjacent cell, a black light gleamed in an old man’s eyes, then dissipated as the man fainted.
...
In a secluded corner of Heaven-Sealing Pass, a dark, cloaked figure let out a sinister chuckle.
Step one was a success.
Whether Adam had any special plans, he didn’t know, but as long as he could make Adam’s disciple begin to harbor suspicions against his own master, it was enough, he could slowly gnaw away at the boy’s heart, bit by bit.
Bruce being so easily bewitched was partly because the spy had used a subtle spell, but it was also because Bruce was lost in deep confusion and desperately needed a goal, the spy had given him exactly that, by throwing out a few leading words, Bruce naturally grabbed onto the bait and wouldn’t let go.
"Time for the next step..."
The dark figure laughed with a hoarse voice, then vanished into thin air.
Back in the cell.
"Master, I want to see my Master!" Bruce shouted.
"Bruce, calm down," the prison guard warned sternly, but Bruce’s eyes held only determination and urgency.
"I have to see my Master, I have something important to tell him," Bruce struggled, trying to break free from his restraints.
The guard remained unmoved, he knew Adam’s rules, unless there was a special order, no one was allowed to contact the prisoners.
"Your Master has placed a ban on you, you cannot see him for the time being," the guard explained.
"But..." Bruce tried to speak, but was abruptly cut off.
"No buts, this is an order," the guard turned and left the cell.
Bruce sat powerlessly on the ground, his heart filled with despair, he knew he was isolated and without help, but he couldn’t give up.
He had to find a way to let his Master know the truth, to let him know they were being framed.
