Chapter 499 (Inspiration Capsule Extra - )
But that didn’t make sense either, why would a cultivator stronger than him sneak around just to take his shoes? It was too abnormal, too weird a fetish.
Silvan stayed up to keep watch for half a month, nothing else went missing, so he stopped standing guard, but that very night, things went missing from the house again.
This endlessly annoyed Silvan’s family.
"Brother, my shoes are gone too, this thief wouldn’t happen to be a pervert, would they?" Serene’s large eyes were filled with confusion.
"My shoes are missing too, it feels like this guy is playing tricks on us, I’m going back to keeping watch tonight, I refuse to believe this!" Silvan’s face was full of indignation.
He felt his dignity was being provoked, that person was definitely playing him for a fool, he had to let the culprit know that a cultivator was not to be humiliated.
Another month passed, Silvan hardly slept at night, continuously keeping watch, just as he had initially suspected, the culprit vanished again, for a whole month, nothing happened.
Fortunately, he was a cultivator, over the past month, he only needed a couple hours of sleep during the day, but the fact that the culprit never showed up frustrated him to no end, he would rather the person come out and fight him directly than have things continue like this.
Inside Silvan’s body, Bruce watched the scenes fast-forward, finding it increasingly bizarre and eerie, moreover, every time Silvan ate those things raw, Bruce experienced it from a first-person perspective, making him extremely uncomfortable.
The scenes flashed by rapidly, several more months passed in a flash.
Silvan and his family still hadn’t caught the culprit, at the dinner table one night.
"Brother, could our house be haunted?" Serene’s brows furrowed, the situation was simply far too bizarre.
Silvan’s expression was also grave, something was indeed very wrong, he didn’t think a cultivator could be bored to this extent, which meant there really might be some strange entity here, he was now on the verge of breaking through to the Grandmaster Realm, and he knew that strange things existed in the cultivation world.
"Let’s try moving to a different house," he first suspected the house was the problem.
They moved, that very night, things went missing in the new house again, but the moment Silvan started keeping watch, nothing would be lost.
Now he was almost certain, their family must have been tainted by some eerie entity, but while he knew how to fight enemies, he knew very little about exorcising evil spirits, Edmund had never taught him this.
If the entity appeared, he could at least fight, but it wouldn’t show itself at all, this left him in a difficult position.
Things couldn’t go on like this forever, otherwise, everything in their house would be stolen.
"Brother, what should we do? Do we need to move again?" Serene was growing numb to it, she had gone from being scared and worried at first to not knowing how she should even feel anymore, the unknown entity wasn’t hurting them, it just kept stealing their belongings.
"No, moving seems useless, we need to figure out this thing’s pattern," Silvan began to ponder, he didn’t want to sit and wait for death.
"That entity steals our things without anyone noticing when we’re asleep, so what if there’s nothing for it to steal?" Silvan said slowly.
"If there’s nothing left in this house to steal, what will happen?"
The family looked at each other, they felt this method was viable.
...
Deep in the night, Silvan and his family huddled together in an empty room, aside from their bedding and a few necessary items of clothing, everything else had been moved out, they decided to use this method to figure out the entity’s pattern.
An eerie and tense atmosphere permeated the room, moonlight spilled through the window, casting mottled shadows on the floor, everyone held their breath, trying to catch the slightest abnormal sound.
"Alright, you guys go to sleep first," Silvan took a deep breath, by going to sleep last, he could ensure their safety.
Serene and their parents nodded, then lay down, after setting up a simple protective formation over his family, Silvan also lay down.
After a while, all four had calm, even breathing.
However, right at this moment, Silvan suddenly sat straight up.
His eyes turned hollow and glassy, as if controlled by something, traces of black qi coiled around his body, he stood up and began searching around the house.
After a full lap, he froze in place, he didn’t find anything edible, finally, he slowly turned his head and saw Serene and his parents lying on the ground.
He walked slowly to Serene’s side, reached out, and effortlessly passed through his own protective formation, he grabbed Serene’s arm, opened his mouth wide, and took a huge bite.
...
"Ah!!!"
Serene let out a terrified scream, the sound was sharp and mournful, like a knife slicing through the dead of night.
It echoed in the empty room, making even the walls seem to tremble.
Alan and Lillian were jolted awake, they sat up abruptly, eyes filled with horror.
"Silvan! What are you doing?!" Alan yelled in terror, eyes wide.
He saw Silvan standing beside Serene, hands tightly gripping her arm, his mouth gnawing on it.
This scene made Alan’s scalp go numb, he rushed over without hesitation, attempting to push Silvan away.
However, he quickly realized his strength was insignificant before Silvan, his son had transformed into an immovable mountain, no matter how hard he pushed, Silvan didn’t budge an inch.
Sweat popped up on Alan’s forehead, he looked back at his wife, eyes pleading for help.
"Silvan! Look at us, I am your mother!" Lillian rushed to the bedside, crying out, trying to touch Silvan’s cheeks, hoping to awaken his reason.
But Silvan seemed controlled by a mysterious force, completely deaf to her calls.
Serene struggled painfully, face covered in tears, voice gone hoarse, she tried to push Silvan away with her other hand, but her strength was equally negligible.
She could only watch helplessly as deep teeth marks were bitten into her arm, fresh blood continuously seeping from the wounds.
Just as they were plunging into despair, Silvan suddenly stopped moving.
His body began to tremble, as if going through a violent struggle.
A trace of clarity gradually returned to his eyes, but it was immediately followed by even deeper horror and bewilderment.
