Chapter 61: The commotion at the Restaurant
Sofia’s car moved steadily through the evening traffic. She kept glancing at the rearview mirror, checking her reflection, then forcing herself to focus on the road. The purple gown felt strange against her skin after years of practical clothing, yet the sensation also brought a quiet thrill.
She thought again of Arthur’s calm voice on the phone and the way he had suggested dinner without any hint of nervousness. By the time she reached the street near Maison Laurent, her pulse had quickened once more.
She parked carefully, took a steadying breath, and stepped out into the cool night air. The moment she came out, she saw the commotion at the gate of the restaurant. Several guards were trying to push away a tall man wearing a hoodie, whose face couldn’t be identified from behind. Beside them, a rich-looking man holding the waist of a woman wearing excessive makeup was cursing loudly.
"What are you doing? I heard all of you are players and quite capable. That’s why I brought my babe to have dinner here. But you can’t even throw out a piece of trash. Go away. I don’t have time to waste. I’ll throw him out myself. Prepare some good wine so that I can wash my hands after touching filth."
The man released the woman and went ahead. The next moment, he clenched his fist and punched. He was a Gold Grade warrior, much more powerful than these guards, who were only Bronze Grade or perhaps Silver Grade, which was very unlikely. Silver Grade players were in high demand in the market nowadays. They normally wouldn’t work as mere guards for a restaurant.
Whoosh!
The air parted with a cutting sound as the fist went forward. The woman had a smug face now, as the man who threw that powerful punch was her man. Many guests were also watching the show, eager to see what would happen to the stranger who had dared to cause trouble at such a high-tier restaurant.
"The beggar is finished. That man is at least a Gold Grade player. Such speed and power," someone started analyzing.
"Stop!"
Suddenly, a shout came from behind, and the man stopped his fist in midair. He wasn’t trying to kill the stranger, or rather, he wasn’t trying to fight with his hand covered in the beggar’s blood. He had been controlling his strength, so it wasn’t much difficult to stop. But he stumbled forward as he tried to stop his momentum. He had stopped because the shout had sent a chill down his back just now.
"How dare a player attack a commoner?"
Sofia’s cold tone rang out, and everyone looked toward the source. Suddenly, all the men, even the women, felt their breath catch. How could someone be this beautiful?
"Didn’t the government say no player can attack commoners without an absolute reason? Are you trying to wage war against the government?"
Sofia’s cold tone made the man feel like he was standing in front of a glacier storm. He immediately started giving his side of the story, as he could tell this woman was standing on a whole different level than him.
"But he is causing trouble here. We asked him to leave politely, but he wouldn’t budge. He is a player, I am sure. These Bronze Grade guards couldn’t even move him."
"Hmph!"
Sofia just snorted. Even she was puzzled. That man wasn’t radiating any aura of a player, but he was giving off an unfathomable vibe. Instantly, her eyes widened as a thought appeared in her mind.
Could it be Arthur?
And she didn’t need to guess. The young man finally looked behind and removed his hood. Instantly, everyone present there saw his face.
"Hiss!"
"Damn! Is he an immortal? What kind of otherworldly handsomeness is this?", the people were again dumbfounded by the sight.
"My apologies, ladies and gentlemen. I am Arthur Miller, and I came here to have dinner with my friend here. I just forgot my dress code. Please go and enjoy yourself," Arthur said with a gentle smile. He wasn’t much angry with this fuss. It was indeed his fault for not wearing proper dress code, as the rules of these high-tier restaurants always said that guests must wear formal clothes.
"Budum!"
Sofia’s heart almost leapt out from her chest. She had seen Arthur’s videos as well as his pictures, but in reality, he was even more handsome.
The man who was causing the fuss, as well as the guards, felt their lungs, liver, heart, and kidneys all dry up instantly. How could they not know who Arthur Miller was? The leader of the younger generation of the Miller family, the absolute juggernaut family that had destroyed a behemoth family like the Parkers overnight.
"Thud! Thud! Thud!"
They all fell to their knees and bowed, including that man.
"Sir, please forgive us, sir. We didn’t know it was you."
They didn’t dare raise their heads. The entire place was pin-drop silent. Even the manager of the restaurant came out at this point, having heard the commotion outside.
Even he was now frozen. He could tell his guards had probably offended Arthur Miller because of his lack of formal clothing. But would he dare beg for mercy on their behalf? Huh? He was even thinking about how to dispose of these guards to survive the apocalypse.
Even Sofia didn’t move. If Arthur wanted to kill them, would she stop him? The main question was, could she stop him? The answer was no. She was already planning how to control the aftermath after Arthur killed them.
Those men felt as though the god of death was watching them.
"No need to be so nervous. It was indeed my fault for not maintaining my proper image. But from now on, try to be nice to people, yeah? Maybe your death is just walking around in human disguise, and you don’t even know that," Arthur said, delivering the chilling sentence along with the others with a smile. He then walked ahead.
"Hello, Ms. Sofia. Sorry for the embarrassment on my part. As you can see, I am not wearing any formal clothes. Would it be okay if we ate dinner at a normal restaurant?"
Arthur smiled awkwardly.
"Qiaaa. So handsome..."
Sofia almost screamed. Of course, she wanted to have dinner with Arthur. Who cared about formal clothes and fancy restaurants when you were having a meal with Darklord himself?
"Of course..."
She was just about to agree when the manager hurriedly approached them.
"Excuse me, sir and ma’am. Will you please honor us with your presence? I am the manager of Maison Laurent, and from now on, with the power of my position, I am revoking the rule of wearing formal clothes permanently. Anyone can wear anything they wish."
"Is that so? Then let’s go. Shall we?"
Arthur didn’t care much about these things, so he asked Sofia.
"Emm, okay."
Sofia nodded gently, her heart still racing as she followed him toward the restaurant entrance.
Only after they entered, did the people dared to breath.
"God, I thought I was finished for watching him getting disrespected."
"Right? I even thought of running with my family tonight.", those guests were all heaved a sigh of releif.
Those guards and the man in formal suit, stood up and wiped the cold sweat.
" I swear on my life, I will call brother whenever I sea a commoner.",the man felt he and his family just survived an apocalypse.
"Babe, let’s go. I’ll cook you dinner at home.", he took his woman and left in hurry.
