818. Relic Fragment

The corridor was extremely quiet, and beyond the window was pure darkness. Nothing could be seen.

Lin Ye quickly found the classroom. Inside, there was only a male student sitting in the first row.

Seeing Lin Ye walk in, the other person merely lifted his head to glance at him, then said nothing.

Lin Ye sat down by the window in the last row. He still didn't know why this classroom had managed to hold out for so long, but this position happened to give him a full view of the entire classroom.

He had barely been seated for a moment when he heard footsteps in the corridor drawing closer.

A few seconds later, two female students walked into the classroom. They paused briefly at the front before taking seats along the wall in the middle section.

The two sat together, looking somewhat nervous.

Two more minutes passed before another female student entered. She merely swept her gaze across the classroom, then walked straight to the back row and sat down right next to Lin Ye.

"Hey, buddy, what's the deal here?"

The female student gave Lin Ye a gentle nudge and asked in a whisper, as if she were up to something sneaky.

"I was about to ask you the same thing. I just got here myself."

Lin Ye had no idea who this person was. He didn't think she seemed like D-Class personnel. If she was a criminal, she'd be at most F-Class, the kind who gets locked up for a few months and then released.

"You're also here to... explore?"

Kamen rested her head on the desk, secretly studying Lin Ye's expression.

"I'm a prisoner. I don't know how I got in either. This is probably connected to some research project of the organization. Did you come in on your own?"

Lin Ye answered very casually.

"Huh? Organization? Research project? Isn't this the Relic Vault?"

Kamen was shocked. The place was indeed a bit strange, but she hadn't expected it to be so far off from what she'd imagined.

"Relic Vault? What's that? You don't actually think the pen in my pocket is a relic, do you?"

Lin Ye said with some exasperation.

He hadn't expected that the moment they met, she'd already swiped the ordinary pen from his body that he used as a backup weapon.

"Sorry, old habit."

Kamen flashed a fawning smile and put the pen back.

While the two were talking, over a dozen more students filed into the classroom. They were clearly quite different from normal students.

"Which plane do you come from? How did you get in?"

There was still one minute left before the first student in the previous classroom had disappeared. Lin Ye wanted to extract some information from this F-Class personnel beside him.

"I came through a colorful portal. Apparently, only the first person to touch the portal can enter."

Kamen felt a bit of regret. If she'd known, she wouldn't have run so fast.

"Why did you come to this classroom?"

If he hadn't experienced it once before, Lin Ye probably wouldn't have been able to find this classroom either.

"You don't have a token? If I hadn't seen this thing, I definitely wouldn't have come in."

Kamen pulled out a glowing, colorful stone and showed it to Lin Ye.

"This is a relic?"

Lin Ye could sense the aura of a relic on the stone.

"No, this is a broken relic fragment. The others probably all have one... You don't?"

Kamen found it hard to believe Lin Ye didn't have a relic fragment on him.

"Nope. I'm a prisoner, where would I get something like that?"

Lin Ye swept his gaze over the students up ahead. If all these people carried such relic fragments, then he understood why this classroom had held out so long last time.

It very likely had something to do with those fragments.

'Hmm?'

While talking with Kamen, Lin Ye had been continuously observing the entire classroom. Just a moment ago, a student had disappeared.

Unlike the students who vanished last time, when this student disappeared, Lin Ye saw a massive surge of chaotic colors.

"That person just disappeared!"

Lin Ye wasn't the only one paying attention to what was happening in the classroom.

"What's going on? Who did that?"

"Colorful traces... that person had a relic fragment too! Stop pretending, none of you are actually students here, are you?"

"That's right, I also have a relic fragment. But after coming in, I became an ordinary person. Isn't it the same for all of you?"

"Same here. That person just vanished out of nowhere. No one was even near him, so it couldn't have been someone else's doing."

"Could he have been teleported into the Relic Vault?"

"Another person disappeared over there! Same colorful traces!"

The previously quiet classroom plunged into chaos. Faced with such an unknown situation, those students who had lost their powers found it hard to stay calm.

Some trainees tried to run out of the classroom, but before they could even reach the door, they turned into colorful traces and vanished completely.

"Boss prisoner, what should we do?"

Kamen shrank back nervously. She felt those students hadn't entered some vault at all, they'd been directly struck by some kind of attack and turned into colorful light!

"Quiet! We're under some kind of attack! If we don't find a way to deal with it quickly, we'll all die here!"

The student who had entered the classroom before Lin Ye stood up and announced in a loud voice.

The other students calmed down a bit. Anyone who could enter a place like this wasn't stupid.

"Could it be a problem with the relic fragments?"

One student placed his relic fragment on the desk.

Then he disappeared. This time, not even colorful traces appeared.

Lin Ye stared at that relic fragment. He suddenly stood up and leaped onto the seat ahead of him.

"Did you find something?!"

Gao Ping, standing in the first row, spotted Lin Ye's movement and asked with great excitement.

"If you want to live, toss me that relic fragment!"

Lin Ye kept his eyes locked on the fragment in the distance, but this body's eyesight wasn't all that great.

The student nearby hastily threw the relic fragment to Lin Ye.

Lin Ye caught it. Inside the fragment, there were colorful lights and shadows shifting around.

"It's the colorful lights inside! The relic fragment can determine where the attacks are coming from!"

The remaining students weren't fools. They'd more or less guessed Lin Ye's method of dodging the attacks.

"Save me, boss! I'm actually a prisoner too! I can't read it!"

Kamen hastily shoved her relic fragment right in front of Lin Ye's eyes.

"Damn! There are only some blurry lights and shadows inside. How are you supposed to read this?!"

The other students also noticed the problem.

"Can you explain the pattern? You can take the relic first if you find it!"

Gao Ping couldn't make sense of the flowing lights and shadows inside the relic fragment either.

"You need to observe the colorful traces that appear when people disappear. There's a pattern to them. Forget it, just all get closer to me, point your fragments at me, and I'll tell you how to dodge!"

Lin Ye couldn't possibly explain it clearly in such a short time, and even if he could, these people might not understand anyway.

The other students quickly crowded toward Lin Ye.

"Don't get too close, or you might get attacked simultaneously later. Keep a distance where I can still see you clearly... You, back up!"

The moment Lin Ye finished speaking, that student turned into colorful traces and disappeared.
