Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 819: Colorful Starry Sky
- Colorful Starry Sky
"No, there's no way we'll make it like this. Stand where I can see all of you at once, and whoever I point at needs to dodge."
Luckily, there were only six students left in the classroom besides Lin Ye. If there were any more, he probably wouldn't be able to keep track of them all.
The students quickly scrambled into position according to Lin Ye's instructions. They had no desire to end up as colorful smears.
Lin Ye continuously directed the students, shifting their positions to evade the attacks, gradually getting used to the pattern of these invisible strikes.
An hour later, the lights and shadows inside the Relic Fragment were still flowing.
"...Is it not over yet? How much longer is this going to last?"
Kamen was already getting tired. They all had to maintain constant focus, and even a slight hesitation meant taking a hit.
Right now, they were all ordinary students, completely unable to sense mental energy.
"Shut up. He's the one who's working the hardest."
Even Gao Ping hadn't expected Lin Ye to last this long. He'd been stealing glances at the lights and shadows inside the Relic Fragment too, but he couldn't make heads or tails of it.But Lin Ye wasn't just maintaining his focus for an extended period, he also hadn't abandoned them. That wasn't something just anyone could do.
"Focus. I can keep this up indefinitely, but I'm worried you all might not hold out."
There were only six students left in the classroom now. Another one had just died moments ago.
"Do we have to keep this up forever? What if it doesn't end until everyone's dead?"
Nancy didn't want to say something so pessimistic, but they had to consider that possibility now.
"I saw a student run out earlier. The moment he stepped into the corridor, he turned into colorful smears."
Gao Ping wanted to find a safe place too, but was there really anywhere safe in here?
"Maybe we can escape through the window. We're on the fourth floor, so we could climb down using the balconies."
Kamen had been thinking about how to run the whole time.
"You're welcome to try going outside."
Lin Ye knew perfectly well that going outside was pointless. As long as the classroom lights went out, colorful stars would appear in the sky, and everyone would die.
But he could maintain the lights on his own. As long as he stayed in the classroom, the sports field would be safe.
"Open the window and try first."
Gao Ping turned to Kamen and said forcefully.
"Boss! He's trying to get me killed!"
Kamen immediately appealed to Lin Ye.
"I'm not! I just wanted someone to scout the way!"
Gao Ping didn't dare provoke Lin Ye, after all, their lives were all in Lin Ye's hands.
"Both of you, one opens the window, one scouts outside. Choose what you want to do yourselves."
Lin Ye couldn't be bothered to deal with them.
"Fine! You open the window, I'll scout outside!"
Kamen spoke up immediately.
"...Alright."
Gao Ping moved closer to the window, and the others followed, making sure everyone stayed within Lin Ye's field of vision.
The window wasn't locked. With a slight push, Gao Ping opened it with ease.
"Move aside."
Kamen walked up to the window and extended a single finger outside.
After confirming that her finger showed no signs of change, she leaned half her body out the window to check the situation outside.
"I can't see anything out there. All those classrooms have gone dark."
Using the light spilling from the classroom, Kamen carefully climbed down the Teaching Building.
Only when she reached the ground did Kamen finally breathe a sigh of relief.
From up above, she could only see pitch-black darkness below, as if there wasn't even any ground down there.
"Come down! It's safe over here!"
Kamen shouted up at them.
"Great. Then we should head down?"
Gao Ping asked for Lin Ye's opinion.
"You all go down. I'll stay in the classroom and keep the lights on. If I leave too, the lights might all go out, and that could trigger something really bad."
What they didn't know was that the moment Lin Ye left the classroom, the lights would go out, and everyone would die.
"Makes sense. Is there anything you need us to do?"
Nancy was deeply grateful to Lin Ye. Without him, she and her friends would have died here.
"Check the sports field. If it's clear, check the rooftop. But whatever you do, don't enter the Teaching Building."
Lin Ye didn't mention the female student observing the starry sky on the sports field. He still couldn't determine what her deal was.
"Got it. Hang in there. If we find an exit, we'll definitely come back and let you know."
Gao Ping climbed out the window as well.
Soon, all the remaining students had left the classroom. Lin Ye leaned against a desk, holding the Relic Fragment. He had no idea whether there was an exit here either.
This simulation, he planned to hold out in the classroom until the very end.
He could last a long time still.
Just as he was thinking about how much longer he could endure, the lights in the classroom suddenly went out.
Colorful light pierced through Lin Ye's body. The light touched the Relic Fragment, and it shattered in his hand, turning into colorful smears.
Lin Ye didn't bother trying to flee toward the window, because outside was nothing but a sky full of colorful stars.

'These people sure work fast!'
The classroom lights going out was almost certainly related to the students who'd gone down.
They must have discovered the female student observing the starry sky. The question was whether she had extinguished the lights, or whether those people had killed her.
Lin Ye leaned toward the latter. After all, the female student had been standing in the middle of the sports field the whole time. If she could extinguish the lights, she wouldn't have needed to wait this long.
'Killing her makes the lights go out? Why would that be?'
Lin Ye walked toward the classroom while mulling it over.
'Observing the starry sky... Colorful stars... The colorful light that extinguishes the lights... The twisted and warped Teaching Building...'
Lin Ye repeated the same process as the last simulation. He didn't go to save those students, because he couldn't keep track of that many Relic Fragments at once. Seven was already his limit.
Besides, even if he did manage to save those people, there was no guarantee they'd make it to the end.
The classroom only had so much space. He could only save those who had a chance of surviving.
He also couldn't open the window and let those students escape. That female student was right in the middle of the sports field, and anyone who ran out would definitely kill her.
The more people there were, the more likely something would go wrong.
An hour later, they opened the window again.
"Wait. I have a female companion who might be on the sports field. She's got a few screws loose upstairs, so don't bother with her. But don't hurt her either."
If these people didn't listen, Lin Ye simply wouldn't let them out next time.
And if someone insisted on leaving anyway, he'd deal with the troublemakers.
"Got it! We promise to protect her for you!"
Kamen gave Lin Ye her word.
"No, just don't disturb her. That's all."
Lin Ye was afraid these people would trigger something weird again and end up getting him killed.
"Understood!"
Kamen climbed out the window and reached the ground without issue. The other students left the classroom as well, leaving only Lin Ye alone, leaning against the desk, maintaining the classroom lights.
