Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 347 - 178: Alliance Reinforcements, Part 2
Li Ziyu felt reassured. Given the current state of affairs, the Alliance Army wouldn’t be able to hold out for much longer. Even if they were elites, in this kind of chaos, they would surely rout once their casualties reached forty percent. The battle would be over, and victory would be his.
Once they routed, the decision to pursue them or to hold back would be entirely up to Li Ziyu.
Just as Li Ziyu thought the outcome was decided, a deep horn blast suddenly echoed from the distance. The sound carried far in the night, clearly audible even over the chaotic battlefield.
Li Ziyu whipped his head around in surprise, looking toward the source of the sound. He saw a trail of fire appear, like a long dragon.
At that moment, an Undead came over to report that they had detected a large number of life signatures steadily approaching from the distance.
’What’s happening?’
’Did the Alliance Army secretly split off some of their forces before I got here?’
’That shouldn’t be possible. A large-scale troop movement wouldn’t have escaped my Undead’s surveillance. Besides, there wasn’t enough time. So where did these people come from?’
Li Ziyu furrowed his brow in confusion.
On the battlefield, hearing the horn call, the Alliance Soldiers were suddenly reinvigorated. Their spirits soared, and they fought with renewed frenzy.
"Reinforcements!"
"Our reinforcements are here!"
"Hold back the Undead!"
The voices of the Alliance Army commanders and Clan Leaders rang out from all directions, and a savage grin spread across Palamede’s face.
’They’re here!’
’My trump card has finally arrived!’
The world knew they had an Alliance Army of 350,000—which they publicly claimed was a million strong—to march against the Undead. But he, Palamede, was no fool. Why would he ever put all his troops on display for others to see, letting the Undead know the true extent of his forces?
It wasn’t an Alliance Army of 350,000 at all—it was 550,000!
A force of 200,000 Alliance Soldiers had never been with the main army. They had been absent from the very beginning, setting out from their respective Tribes in scattered groups to evade surveillance before going into hiding.
Palamede’s initial plan was to attack the Undead with the 350,000-strong Alliance Army. If they could win, all the better. But if they failed and the Undead counterattacked, then this hidden force of 200,000 was not just his lifeline—it was his ultimate weapon to crush the Undead!
That 200,000-strong force contained a significant number of Cavalry. Otherwise, his Alliance Army’s Cavalry wouldn’t have seemed so weak during the day, getting completely blocked by a horde of Skeleton Beasts. It was because their numbers were insufficient; he had assigned the majority of his Cavalry to this hidden 200,000-man army!
It was precisely because he had this force in reserve that Palamede could order the Full Army Assault during the day without hesitation. Otherwise, he would have been far more cautious.
The ground trembled. The Cavalry from the 200,000-strong army was already charging from four directions!
Amidst the howls of wolves and the neighing of steeds, the reinforcements arrived. There were Goblin Cavalry on their Warg Mounts, Giant Lizard Cavalry on their massive reptiles, Headhunter Race cavalry on tiger-clawed, horse-like beasts, and various other mounted units, all kicking up a massive cloud of dust as they came to support the main army.
’These guys are actually trying to outsmart me?’ Li Ziyu’s mind went a little numb as he watched the Cavalry charging from all sides.
’Another mistake born from my own Experience.’ He’d assumed that since they were just a bunch of natives from a remote region, they must be brainless brutes. Judging by their performance during the day, his assessment hadn’t been wrong—their formation was terrible, and their Full Army Assault had been a chaotic mess.
’I never expected they’d manage to prepare such a grand surprise for me, right under everyone’s noses!’
A force of seventy to eighty thousand Cavalry charged directly into the fray. The combat effectiveness of charging Cavalry is immense; using their momentum, they smashed right through the Skeleton Undead. Those fragile Undead were completely unable to withstand the Charge.
The pressure on the front lines was instantly relieved, and the Alliance Soldiers finally had a chance to catch their breath.
In the distance, the river of torchlight grew wider. Following behind the Cavalry, over one hundred thousand infantrymen were advancing toward the main camp.
The tide of battle seemed to turn in an instant. Li Ziyu was now at a disadvantage, and the Alliance Army had once again seized the initiative.
"Oh, you arrogant, conceited Undead! We will be the ones to claim final victory!"
Palamede roared, raising his two-handed battle-axe high. An irrepressible smile plastered on his face, he swung the axe forcefully toward the Undead Fortress. "Charge! Scale the fortress and take it!"
The Alliance Soldiers erupted in cheers and immediately launched a fierce charge toward the Undead Fortress.
’Tsk, this is dangerous.’
Li Ziyu watched the Alliance Soldiers carve through his Skeleton Undead and charge relentlessly toward the fortress. He clicked his tongue, and a strange smile appeared on a face that should have been tense with worry.
"You five go as well. The time has come to fight for our lives," Li Ziyu said without turning his head.
The five Tattooed Skeletons received their orders and departed. After they left, Li Ziyu commanded the fortress to maintain its Speed and continue its advance across the battlefield. Simultaneously, he began summoning more Undead. This time, he held nothing back, calling forth everything he could—be they Alien Undead or Skeleton Undead—in the largest numbers possible.
He couldn’t stop deploying Undead onto the battlefield; the moment he did, he was doomed. Moreover, he had to maintain a garrison of Undead within the fortress itself. The enemy was clearly planning to storm it, and if the fortress fell, it would be all over.
The Undead Fortress kept moving, and the deployment of Undead never ceased.
As Li Ziyu summoned more Undead, he raised his head to the sky above him and called out, "Saler Borhan!"
