Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 346 - 178: Alliance Reinforcements

  • Next Chapter

The Undead Fortress rampaged through the Alliance Camp, scattering Skeleton Undead wherever it went without stopping.

Once the Skeleton Undead hit the ground, they swarmed out like locusts, attacking the surrounding Alliance Soldiers.

"Kill the enemy! Kill the enemy! Kill the enemy!"

Li Ziyu stood on the top floor of the Fortress, pumping his fist as he cheered. He was perfectly safe, as he was at the very peak of the fortress—a place the enemy couldn’t possibly reach, even with a bow and arrow.

The Longbowmen stood on the White Bone Watchtowers and Bone Plate Platforms, nocking and loosing arrows. They weren’t firing indiscriminately, but rather taking aimed shots, specifically picking off enemy Magic Professionals and those who appeared to be commanders.

It was remarkably easy for the Undead to identify the commanders. With a sweep of their Soul Fires, they could sense who had the strongest life force—those individuals were bound to be high-ranking. All they had to do was shoot.

Li Ziyu also dispatched the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warriors. One after another, they leaped from the Fortress alongside the other Skeleton Undead. They charged into the crowd, swinging their Heavy Hammers and wreaking havoc in all directions.

Palamede was stunned. In his centuries of life, he had fought in countless battles, leading his Tribe in campaigns all across the land. It wasn’t that he hadn’t encountered powerful foes before, but he had never witnessed anything like this.

’This is ridiculous! Transporting an army directly into an enemy camp and just... dropping them from above? What kind of strategy is this?’

He was well-informed and had long known that the people in the Central Zone were fighting a group that possessed Mobile Fortresses. The Undead were clearly part of that group, but he had never imagined that confronting a Mobile Fortress would be like this.

"Clan Leader, get back!"

The Skeleton Undead surged toward them in a mighty wave. Palamede’s Personal Guard rushed to his side, trying to escort him to safety, but Palamede shoved them aside. With fury blazing in his eyes, he hefted his Double-bladed Axe and strode forward to meet the oncoming Skeleton Undead.

He stepped forward into a bow stance, twisting his body and spinning the axe. As his body followed the weapon’s rotation, the Double-bladed Axe carved a blood-red arc through the air. The Skeleton Undead before him were instantly hacked into splinters, their very skulls sent flying.

"Charge!"

Having wiped out the Skeleton Undead before him in a single blow, Palamede pointed at the relentless, oncoming tide of Skeletons and roared, "Do not fear them! They are nothing more than powerless Skeletons!"

Witnessing Palamede’s valor, the Personal Guard felt their morale surge. They raised their axes and charged toward the Skeleton Undead.

The Personal Guard were no ordinary Warriors. They were the elite of the elite—fierce, skilled in battle, and utterly loyal. To join their ranks, one had to survive round after round of grueling selections, literally climbing over mountains of corpses to earn their position. Only then would they receive an axe personally bestowed by Palamede and gain the right to cultivate Blood Evil Qi.

Palamede owed his rise to power in no small part to Blood Evil Qi. Most members of the Tribe he controlled also cultivated it, albeit a cruder version. The Blood Evil Qi his Personal Guard cultivated, however, was much more High Level.

To cultivate Blood Evil Qi was to walk the path of slaughter, requiring constant killing. Every powerful expert at Palamede’s side was, in essence, an executioner—a butcher whose hands were stained with blood. Even among the Headhunter Race, they were considered utterly ferocious.

Now, they unleashed their Blood Evil Qi, continuously hacking down the Skeleton Undead and quickly clearing a large area around them.

The actions of Palamede’s Personal Guard did not go unnoticed by the panicked Alliance Soldiers. Seeing them, the soldiers gradually steadied themselves. As they looked at the endless tide of Skeleton Undead, their fear and terror gave way to a burgeoning will to fight.

"Rally to me!"

Palamede stood amidst his Personal Guard, raising his axe high and shouting. ’I have to rally our forces,’ he thought. ’I can’t let the Undead continue this rampage. If the Alliance Army collapses, it’s game over. It’ll be hard enough just to escape then.’

At this point, the Alliance Soldiers didn’t care who was giving orders. Now that someone had taken the lead, they spontaneously began to gather around Palamede.

Tens, hundreds, thousands...

More and more soldiers ran toward Palamede. This large gathering of Alliance Soldiers, in turn, attracted even more Skeleton Undead, which surrounded them in layer upon layer, besieging them in a frenzy.

The Alliance Soldiers were now fighting for their lives, desperately striking back to hold off the Undead offensive.

Besides Palamede, other commanders and Clan Leaders were also rallying their men. They all knew that unity was essential now; only by standing together could they hope to fend off the Undead assault.

Li Ziyu looked down from his high perch. The battlefield below was now dotted with battle circles of various sizes. Each circle was composed of rallied Alliance Soldiers, and these formations had become the primary targets for his Undead. ’Well, it’s their own fault for gathering in such conspicuous groups.’

’Since you’ve all gathered so nicely, I won’t hold back. I’ll just order the Fortress to roll right over those battle circles. No matter how strong you are, I refuse to believe you can withstand an assault from the Fortress itself!’

The first battle circles were already swarmed by his Undead, so Li Ziyu couldn’t just charge the Fortress in, lest he crush his own troops. But for the newer pockets of resistance that were forming, Li Ziyu showed no such restraint. ’If you’re going to draw a crowd,’ he mused, ’I’m going to run you over.’

Using the overwhelming power of the Undead Fortress, Li Ziyu had thrown the Alliance Camp into utter disarray. And the areas he hadn’t yet reached were far from peaceful. Liu Xingxing’s Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress and Zhang Peng’s Gopher-man Fortress had also charged into the fray.

Although their Fortresses were not as massive as the Undead Fortress and lacked an endless supply of Undead, they were still incredibly difficult for the Alliance Soldiers to resist, adding even more chaos to the battlefield.
