The wooden stairs leading down to the hidden drainage canal didn’t just rattle under the weight of the handcarts; they split cleanly down the center as Jun- ho’s large rubber boots hit the lower concrete apron. The sound of the timber snapping was flat, completely swallowed by the steady, heavy rumble of the diesel exhaust coming from Rea’s black lugger at the end of the stone slipway.

The air down here was thick, wet with a grey city drizzle that smelled of heavy engine oil fuel, dry sulfur dust, and the cold, sharp static coming off the central district’s main transmission lines.

Jun-ho walked out onto the wet concrete of the pier, his left hand keeping a loose, steady grip around the new matte-black hemp wrap of The Ash Remnant. The solid four-foot wedge of ink-black metal rested cold against his thigh, its four ancient characters near the raw slag crossguard glowing with that slow, white-hot fire that cast no light. Locked tightly over his chest were the rough stone slabs of the Ashen Monarch Core Plate, absorbing the black grease drops that leaked from the ceiling beams like a sponge.

Right at the corner of his left eye, the solid black numbers were waiting, perfectly silent.

"The naval patrol cutters are already shifting their long-range radar loops, Jun-ho," Eun-bi’s voice called out from right behind his shoulder guard. She had her canvas bag slung tight across her waist, her gray flannel shirt left unbuttoned at the throat because of the suffocating heat coming off his newly expanded mana pool. Her dark hair was wet and messy, loose strands sticking to her chin, but her sharp face carried that regular, flat public-sector drawl as she adjusted her clipboard.

"The central database just logged an orange code for the entire southern siding. They know the forty enforcers were cleared from the vault floor, but they don’t know our transponder signature is running the old unranked fishing logs. We have less than ten minutes before they drop the electronic line net across the river mouth."

Jun-ho didn’t answer her. He focused his mind entirely on the ten fresh points waiting in his eye. To achieve maximum physical velocity during their escape down the narrow drainage channel, his raw speed metrics needed a permanent, structural anchor.

"Put all 10 points into Speed," Jun-ho whispered into his own collar.

[Attribute Allocation Detected: 10 Points to Speed.]

[Applying 100x Multiplier to Resource Logic...]

[Speed increased by 1,000.]

The shift inside his legs was completely silent. The frozen lake behind his ribs expanded by another full circle, a deep, heavy density settling into his thighs and knees that made his large rubber boots feel weightless against the stones. The air right around his soles grew thin, the loose grey salt crust beneath his boots rippling in small, rapid circles as his Ashen Domain - Phase 4 locked its new boundary line seventy meters out into the canal water.

Lilith slid right up to his left elbow, her exceptionally long, smooth legs cutting a clean line through the low purple mist of the pier. The tight crimson leather of her outfit pulled dangerously flat across the voluptuous, perfect curve of her round hips, her narrow waist twisting with a lazy, deliberate rhythm that brought her frame right against his denim trousers. Her massive, half-visible chest rose and fell in quick, deep gasps against his bare upper arm, her full red lips parting into a low, breathless murmur that carried the sharp scent of raw sulfur and dark incense straight to his neck.

"The little nurse is too worried about the paper metrics, big guy," Lilith whispered, her wide crimson eyes glowing with a lazy, dangerous fire under her long ink-black hair. Her long fingers, tipped with sharp crimson nails, caught the wet hem of his gray shirt, pulling his torso an inch closer to her shoulder with a teasing, hot friction that made his skin prickle against the frost. "My spirit belongs to your ribs now, Jun-ho. Let her count her columns—I want to watch you clear the twelve-mile reef blocks from the inside of my skin. Every single drop of my demon energy is locked to your line."

She was falling for him. It wasn’t the standard contract calculation of a rogue broker; her primitive demon instincts had recognized the raw, absolute weight of his Phase 4 framework, her spirit locking onto his presence with a fierce, submissive passion that made her knees tremble against his boots.

"Move your chest back, broker," Eun-bi’s sharp, furious voice barked from right behind his shoulder guard, her fingers tightening around her silver trauma scissors with an intense, biting jealousy. She walked two long steps across the wet soot, jamming her heavy rubber boot directly between Lilith’s leather trousers and the side of Jun-ho’s jeans. Her bare thigh pressed hard against his shins for stability as the boat hit a larger swell, her eyes locking straight onto his face.

"The database log is still running the core synchronization, Jun-ho. If you let this rogue broker crowd the narrow track with her hair and her incense, the system will trace the mana displacement before we can even clear the drainage outlet. The registry belongs to the collective detail, not her private bedroom."

Rea slid off the secondary boat rail with a slow, fluid stride that made the high-slashed silk of her black tunic rustle loudly against her long bare legs. Her golden-blue eyes spun slowly in a lazy, dangerous circle under the gray sky, her full crimson lips tightening into a thin, jealous line as she wedged her own voluptuous hourglass shape tight against Jun-ho’s opposite sleeve, her wild orchid perfume cutting sharp through Lilith’s sulfur incense.

"The little nurse is right about the timer, big guy," Rea murmured, her bare arm rubbing against his shirt fabric with a heavy, possessive friction that competitive edge turning her tone sharp. "The demon girl is a bit too forward with her placement. She thinks because she signed the soul bind she owns the whole ledger line. I have the master key for the lower drainage grid already logged on my console. We don’t need her codes to clear the path."

Jun-ho didn’t pull back an inch from any of them. He reached out his bare right hand, his fingers closing around Rea’s narrow waist under the loose silk fabric of her tunic, while his left shoulder remained pinned against the hot, firm line of Lilith’s leather top. The dual friction made the suppressed lake behind his ribs pulse in a deep, slow rhythm that filled the entire dark hold with a silent, heavy weight.

"The path is wide enough," Jun-ho said quietly.

He stepped over the low wooden rail of the black lugger, his rubber boots landing flat on the deck planks with a quiet, light thud that didn’t make the hull rock an inch in the silt. Tae-woo and the four elite vanguards burst down the stairs behind him, their massive Tier 4 frames hauling the five loaded handcarts straight into the forward cargo hold, their iron knuckles clean and steady as they slammed the timber hatches closed.

Old Man Hak slammed the gear handle forward on the wooden console, the single-cylinder engine letting out a massive, dark roar as the boat slid away from the concrete pier. With Jun-ho’s newly multiplied Speed stat active, his perception of the river walls was absolute; the concrete columns of the canal vanished past the portholes in a single, blind blur of gray stone as the boat shot down the narrow channel at three times its standard speed.

Ten minutes later, the lugger burst out through the high concrete sea walls of the city sector, its hull clear of the inner harbor filters, its twin props leaving a long, brilliant white wake of broken ice and foam in the dark water as they slid straight into the dark gray mist of the open sea.

Down in the low-ceilinged crew quarters, the air was intensely hot and close. Jun-ho sat flat against the long cedar storage box, his fingers loosely wrapped around the rough black hemp wrap of his sword.

Rea leaned her entire weight flat against his left flank, her long bare legs exposed high along the silk line of her tunic, her golden-blue eyes spinning in a lazy, victorious circle as she looked up into his face. On his right side, Lilith’s voluptuous hips leaned even closer into his denim jeans, her large chest pressing flat against his ribs to mark her territory, her crimson eyes flaring with a dark, submissive passion. Eun-bi sat across the narrow aisle on the edge of the canvas cot, her bare thigh pressed firmly against the side of his rubber boot for stability as the boat cut through the gray mist of the twelve-mile reef, heading straight toward the unranked offshore island gates.
