Chapter 247 : Perfect Revenge (2)
Perfect Revenge (2)
Lee Gyeongbok and Light stared at their opponent with grim expressions.
"Shit, who told you the password? Guess I'll need to teach that idiot bastard some lessons too."
Cursing again, the gang member grinned, exposing his yellowed teeth. Around them, other outlaws jeered, entertained by the spectacle.
- What does that mean? Does he have no regrets about life?
- Lol, don't recognize the Perfect Detective?
- Godple's revolver: Should I shoot, master?
- 5252, please hold back, won't you?
- Nds!
- Ah, lol, if it weren't for the intel, I'd have finished him instantly!
The viewers were disappointed by the fact that they couldn't kill the guy.
"You all know, right? Guns are forbidden."
In the meantime, the saloon owner exhaled a cloud of cigarette smoke as he spoke.
"Don't forget, the moment you draw a gun, you become a public enemy."
At those words, the chat was filled with question marks.
- Is that an outlaw rule or something?
- Why are rules attached to being an outlaw, lol
- But to be fair, if everyone used guns as they pleased, it'd be total chaos, lol
- Yeah, if guns came out every time there's an argument, the town couldn't last, lol
- So do they just fight barehanded?
At this, the gang member lifted his chin, swaggering.
"Not gonna waste a bullet on a punk like this. Come outside. I'll cripple you and skin this filthy Indian."
The guy approached Lee Gyeongbok, as if sure of his own strength—he was big enough to be so cocky.
But Lee Gyeongbok didn't back down.
"It's hot outside."
"What?"
The gang member frowned at Lee Gyeongbok's response. But he didn't get a chance to hear more.
With a blur from below, a punch shot up and smashed the guy's jaw.
"No reason we need to go out."
- Ah, lol, can't stand the heat!
- Another shot, another kill!
- You thought you actually had a chance barehanded? lol
- The punch headshot is fundamental, haha
- Fast resolutions are the best!
With everything settled in a single blow, the viewers cheered. But things didn't go quite as they expected.
"Guk..."
The gang member's eyes rolled back, and he fell backward. With a loud crash, a table overturned, and the surrounding outlaws quickly jumped to their feet.
"Damn it! My booze!"
"What the hell are you doing!?"
"Ahh!"
"This bastard hit me with his elbow!"
"You wanna go!?"
Like dominoes, outlaws crashed into each other and tempers flared.
True to their unruly nature, fists flew before words.
- Eh?
- Wait;;; why is this happening all of a sudden!
- Of course, making things worse was your specialty, right?
- Why are their tempers so short, lol
- Outlaw patience level, haha
"Alex, what are you doing?!"
Viewers and Light alike were thrown by the sudden shift. But Lee Gyeongbok was unfazed.
"I did it on purpose."
This had been his plan from the start.
"I can't just knock out one guy and drag him away. Stirring things up makes it easier to get him out."
It was hard to subdue an outlaw and escape from Nowhere. And within the village, there wasn't a suitable place for an interrogation.
- Oh, haha, true point
- Our Godple always has a plan! (and he really does)
- If everyone's down, we can just take him out pretending he's a friend?
- Don't care, just smash everything up!
- Bar fight, let's go!
- Is this that Fight Club?
- ???: Is there a fight? Count me in!
- What a mess, total chaos!
Realizing this wasn't an outburst but a planned move, viewers relaxed.
"Good, then we just need to knock everyone down."
Light was the same. Showing her enthusiasm, she hurled a chair at the oncoming outlaw.
Lee Gyeongbok leisurely dealt with the angry outlaws, using light footwork to keep his distance and whittle down their numbers with ease.
"Today's your funeral, bastards!"
"You're all dead!"
A few outlaws broke bottles or pulled knives, so Lee Gyeongbok glanced over at the saloon owner.
But he just stepped back from the bar with a sigh.
"Guess as long as it's not guns, anything goes."
At his brief comment, the viewers were dumbfounded.
- Seriously, they're bringing knives to a no-items fight, lol
- So it's not people dying that matters, but the guns?!
- I can't keep up with this logic, lol
- This... is outlaw rules?
- Only cheating makes them real outlaws, haha
But no one was truly worried. They knew he wouldn't fall to a simple blade.
"Can't really bring myself to stab someone directly."
Lee Gyeongbok dodged the knife and countered with a hook to the man's arm.
"Gah...! You bastard!"
"What the hell? This is insane!"
With a dull thud, the knife was knocked aside and ended up plunging into the back of an unlucky outlaw.
- Ah, haha, it's not even his fault
- Classic "win without laying a finger
― Godple style EEJ, lol
- Let them sort it out among themselves, haha
- Insane, this is hilarious
Lee Gyeongbok dealt with his opponents calmly. These outlaws weren't skilled fighters, so he had plenty of time to look around.
"Light is really strong, huh?"
Using her unique strength as a weapon, she hurled tables to knock down groups at once or grabbed outlaws to use as literal clubs.
- Look at Light's strength, lol
- That's true practical muscle
- Compressed muscle honed by real hunting!
- Why bother with PT? Just go hunting
- If you do that now, you're a poacher!
- After seeing this, I canceled my gym membership ^^
- You never went anyway, did you?
- Everyone only goes to the gym at the start of the month—national rule, lol
The situation was intense, but the viewers could feel at ease. Soon, the brawl wrapped up, leaving only two people standing as expected.
But there was still one more man standing on his feet.
"Never seen you two before, but your skills are impressive."
It was the saloon owner.
He swallowed dryly and scanned the fallen outlaws.
"Never had an Indian gang before. You part of any gang? I run the whole smuggling biz here. If you need anything, just say the word."
The owner—smuggler—grinned as he spoke. Though Light was displeased with his offer, she didn't speak up, instead glancing at Lee Gyeongbok.
The moment that attention shifted—
"Alex!"
Her shout was immediately drowned out by a single gunshot.
- ????
- Huh?
- What was that?
- Hyeong!?
- Why'd he shoot?!
The one who fell was the smuggler.
Light, too, looked lost.
"Why on earth...!?"
Instead of answering immediately, Lee Gyeongbok opened the cylinder and loaded a bullet.
With the click of the action, he finished reloading and approached the bar.
"You think someone doing business among outlaws wouldn't have a means of protection?"
- Huh?
- When did he even pull the gun?
- He's the one who said not to use guns, lol
- Lol, there was a gun rack under the bar
- But Godple's reaction speed can't be beaten
Next to the fallen owner was a dropped revolver. Lee Gyeongbok had sensed the threat the moment the man engaged him in conversation.
- Didn't he say shooting would make them public enemies?
- It's probably fine if it's self-defense?
- Outlaws don't seem big on justice, lol
- The dead don't speak, that's the point
The viewers voiced concern as they remembered the dead man's warnings. Light, too, was on edge.
"Alex, someone's coming. Around two people?"
She lowered her voice, tense. But Lee Gyeongbok remained relaxed.
'Four, actually. Are they coming to check things out?'
He had sensed even more outlaws approaching than Light had.
- Huh? Should we make a run for it, then?
- Well, we caught the gang guy, so everything's done, right?
- But if we try to escape, the horses are in front of the saloon...
- Wouldn't we get caught if we go out?
- Yeah, there are probably camping snipers in that cutscene
- Camping snipers, damn, the worst, lol
The viewers discussed the changing situation. Since they'd found their clue, was there any reason to stay in Nowhere?
"No way anyone expected they'd try to shoot first. Still, escaping won't exactly be easy."
Lee Gyeongbok agreed with the viewers, but not entirely.
"Running away while carrying an unconscious person isn't all that easy. Plus, they know where Nowhere is, so they won't just let us go. I'm sure they'll send pursuers. So let's change the plan."
The viewers were surprised by his reasoning. However, considering who was saying it—
- That's hard for you, hyung?
- The guy who snipes from horseback, suddenly saying it's tough?
- He must have something planned, lol
It might be difficult for an average person, but not for Lee Gyeongbok. Noticing their reaction, he gave a mock cough.
"Ahem, everyone here is an outlaw anyway. Let's just clean them all up and leave."
- Huh? Kill them all?
- LOL, I knew it!
- He's sprinkling bait because he wants to do something hard again
- ??? : Ah! I feel like wiping everyone out!
- ??? : Hehe! I love challenging stuff!
- Of course, he always goes for the hardest option!
Knowing his playstyle, the viewers burst out laughing.
"All the outlaws? You planning to hole up here?"
Light, unaware of his tendencies, was naturally flustered.
"No, it's a numbers game, so barring ourselves in isn't a good option. Instead, I need you to prepare something."
"Me?"
Lee Gyeongbok explained what she needed to do.
"That... hmm, shouldn't be a problem."
As she answered after a moment of thought, the chat was abuzz.
- Huh? That's possible too?
- Considering the freedom in this game, sure, lol
- Honestly, compared to a chain letter mission, this is better
- Next-level thinking!
- Can do it because she's with Light!
* * *
Around the saloon, outlaws fired a hail of bullets.
"Shit! Randal is dead!"
"We at least need to survive!"
"Please die already!"
But the enemy didn't fall easily. In fact, more outlaws were collapsing without even being able to scream.
Still, perhaps sheer weight of numbers would win out.
"Gah!"
With a scream, blood splattered across the window and someone crumpled.
"It's done!"
"That bastard's finally dead!"
As the urgent gunfight ceased, the outlaws erupted in cheers.
"Only the Indian is left now?"
"Who knows, maybe she died before that."
But none of them moved toward the saloon, still watching each other warily.
"Just to confirm—whoever kills gets the loot, right?"
"Yeah, that's the outlaw rule."
Some greedy outlaws' eyes gleamed.
There were plenty of other dead outlaws in the saloon—not just the one they'd just killed. It was the perfect chance to scoop up all their stuff.
"All right..."
"We'll pile it up and split it after."
Eventually, some outlaws led the way. After a quick agreement, they moved toward the saloon.
Their guns still trained on the room, they looked none too pleased as they entered.
"Damn, there aren't many dead."
"Shit, how much moonshine was spilled in the fight?"
"Wait. This one isn't that bastard."
A careful outlaw widened his eyes upon checking the body by the window. The man who'd been shot wasn't Lee Gyeongbok.
"No?"
"Huh? What's this?"
One of them bent down cautiously.
"A noose?"
There was a noose around his foot.
Wasn't that the kind of trap used for hunting small animals?
And in the saloon, not the forest—it was even more out of place.
The moment they realized, there was a metallic *ting* sound.
"Oh, for f—"
Suddenly, the rope tightened around his ankle, and something dropped from above. Instinctively glancing up, the outlaw cursed.
It was a lamp, burning with bright light.
As the lamp shattered on the floor, flames erupted in an instant.
"Kyaaaah!"
"Ahhh! It's hot!"
"Aaaaaaargh!"
In a flash, the saloon was engulfed in flames, and burning outlaws came stumbling outside.
"Wh-what the hell!?"
"What happened!?"
"Water! Somebody get water...!"
The outlaws waiting outside panicked, but had little time to worry about anyone but themselves.
"Only six? That's fewer than expected."
"They're just cowards."
Lee Gyeongbok and Light had already escaped and offered their casual commentary, making the viewers laugh.
- OMG, this actually works, lol
- Crushed it, haha
- ???: Burns better than the fire in Irung Forest
- Zhuge Liang moment, haha
- The plan went off perfectly!
All of this was exactly as Lee Gyeongbok planned.
While he had started the gunfight, light had spread moonshine around the saloon and set up the lamp trap.
- Light's trap-making skills are world class!
- And Godple's Black Company-level thinking appears!
- For real—is he really using an unconscious outlaw as bait?
- This is what talent utilization looks like!
- For real, just turned him into an ingredient, lol
After setting up, they used an unconscious outlaw as bait, lured the others in, and used a key from the saloon owner to open the back door and sneak out with the knocked-out gang member.
"Let's take care of the rest directly."
"Leave it to me."
The confused outlaws began dropping from bullets and arrows.
Lee Gyeongbok handled the snipers on high ground, while Light eliminated anyone trying to slip away.
- Huh?
- The fire's spreading more?
- It really is burning faster because it's so dry here
- I thought it was Irung Forest, but it's like the Red Cliff siege, lol
- Should I throw in some sweet potatoes?
- Sweet potatoes?! Are you kidding me, lol
Meanwhile, the fire raced from the saloon to the neighboring buildings. By the time Lee Gyeongbok and Light finished, all of Nowhere was ablaze.
"Ah, there's a cutscene now?"
Lee Gyeongbok could feel control slipping away. The screen panned out to show Nowhere swallowed by flames.
- Nowhere living up to its name, lol
- The place actually doesn't exist anymore, haha
- Huh? Why's the gang member lying there?
- What happened? Where are Alex and Light?
A gang member lay in the village square. He shuddered, then scowled against the heat, his clothes soaked with sweat.
"What the...?"
Rising to his feet, he trailed off as he scanned the burning village with disbelief.
His jaw seemed stuck open. He stumbled back, then ran for the horse tied near the outskirts.
"Just as expected."
With Light's voice, the camera tilted up. Alex and Light sat on horseback atop the heights where the snipers had been, looking down.
"Hired Gun types wouldn't talk easily. Even if we interrogated them, it's not certain they'd tell us everything."
"Alan couldn't say anything either. But in a situation like this, he'll definitely run for the hideout."
"Let's keep our distance and tail him."
The two of them hurried after the galloping gang member.
The viewers immediately realized what was happening.
- Oh? Now that you mention it...
- Yeah, grilling them wouldn't guarantee good info
- If he's talking now, it must be a solid clue
- In that case, this was the best outcome!
- Godple made the right call!
- Did you know this would happen?
To the curious viewers, Lee Gyeongbok replied with a laugh:
"No, not exactly. It's just, harder stuff is usually more fun and comes with better rewards, you know?"
He simply picked the choice that seemed the most interesting, guided by his divine energy. But in most games, reward matched difficulty.
- That's Matjji's way, lol
- High risk, high reward is standard!
- If the reward is stingy after all that effort, I'd quit on the spot, lol
- Yeah, you gotta get a sweet reward after all that work
The viewers agreed.
The scene shifted.
"It's a forest, huh? Looks like we're almost there since they got off the horses."
The sky was dark, making the passage of time clear. Alex and Light were now moving through a dense forest, not the barren wastes.
The gang member in front carried a torch, so tracking him was easy.
"This is..."
When the gang member finally stopped, alex narrowed his eyes. Light looked questioningly at his expression, then fell silent.
Lee Gyeongbok and the viewers wondered what was going on.
"Ah."
The answer was revealed as the scene shifted.
- ???????
- Huh?
- Wait, isn't this that place?
- OMG, is this the bear cave from the prologue?
- Wait, he was hiding here all along?!
Lee Gyeongbok and the viewers all gasped in amazement.
"Wow, they totally exploited the blind spot."
- For real, did they actually reuse the cave as a hideout, lol
- Now that I think of it, it's actually the most optimal place
- Yeah, the whole place was already investigated, alex's village is gone
- Still, isn't this way too bold, lol
While shocked at the unexpected location, the chat quickly turned excited.
- What if they're hiding well, so what? Godple found them anyway!
- Saw this in the prologue! No escape but the cliff!
- It's basically trapping them like rats
- The Hired Guns are all doomed now, lol
- It's revenge party time!
At last, the time for the final showdown had come.
