Chapter 390: Saving For Rainy Days

James rubbed his forehead, speechless.

"Mom, Yvonne is a doctor herself. There’s no need to check."

However, Mrs. Taylor said, "You’re right, but you can’t always cure yourself."

James was at a loss for words and said.

"Then what do you want to do?"

When she heard his question, she immediately perked up. "I’ve already thought this through for you. Take Yvonne to the hospital for a full-body checkup. I’ve already instructed the doctors to be prepared. Everything is done according to the standard procedure and no one can tell."

Hearing this, he felt a migraine coming on.

But, he knew his mom well. If he didn’t agree to her request, there would be no end to it.

As such, he said perfunctorily, "I understand. However, the two of us have been busy recently. We won’t be able to do it until we’re done with our work."

Seeing that he had agreed, she didn’t press him. Instead, she reminded him, "Remember to find some time."

"Got it."

After dealing with his mom, he returned to his room.

Thinking of what his mom had just told him, he thought it ridiculous. Yvonne was a doctor. No matter how secretive the arrangement was, how could she not be able to tell?

His mom must be really bored. All she did was stare at Yvonne’s belly all day. If it went on like this, there would be conflicts.

Even if Yvonne had already given in to her.

He couldn’t stand it anymore.

Thinking of this, he glanced at Yvonne, who was sitting in front of the dressing table putting on skincare products. He slowly walked forward, looked at her in the mirror, and said, "I have something to discuss with you."

Yvonne was putting on her skincare products in front of the mirror. When she heard what he said, she nodded and said, "Go ahead."

James hesitated for a moment then said, "Why don’t we move back?"

This was the second time he had mentioned this.

She was puzzled. She turned to look at him but before she can speak.

He added, "Don’t reject me in such a hurry. I’m thinking, since we’ve been very busy recently and rarely come back to eat with Mom, living under the same roof like this will only make her feel more uncomfortable. Why don’t we live separately? I think she’ll be happier if we eat with her at home every week."

Hearing what he said, she thought for a moment and said, "Does Mom have a problem with us?"

"No."

"That’s what I think. It’s always challenging for mother-in-law and daughter-in -law to get along. At present, you’re getting along well with my mom, but what if you spend a long time together? Can you guarantee that you can still get along as well? I’m preparing for the worst."

He said earnestly.

She thought he made sense.

In fact, she didn’t necessarily have to live with Mrs. Taylor.

It was more for Thomas so that he can take care and show concern for his mom.

But if it could cause a conflict in the future, it would contradict their intentions.

Thinking of this, she said, "I have no objection to moving back, but we’ll have to discuss this with Mom first."

"As long as you agree, leave Mom to me."

As soon as he finished speaking, she voiced her objection. "No, better not that you speak about this with Mom."

"Why?" he did not understand.

"Think about it. If you talk to her about this, she’ll definitely think that I am the one who wants to move out. That’s gonna create a misunderstanding."

He thought for a moment and agreed. "But it’s not appropriate for you to discuss this with her."

She nodded. "It’s indeed inappropriate for me to tell her that."

...

"Neither you nor I can go tell her this, then who can do it?"

James was depressed.

Yvonne did not have a solution yet. She paused for a moment and said, "How about this? I’ll sound out Mom first, and then act accordingly."

Hearing this, he nodded. That was the only way.

The next day, Yvonne did not go to the company with James. Instead, she stayed at home to accompany Mrs. Taylor. She wanted to take this opportunity to sound her out. After all, they had to take her opinion into consideration when they move out.

"Yvonne, why didn’t you go to the office today?"

Seeing that it was rare for her to be home, Mrs. Taylor asked, puzzled.

Yvonne was slightly guilt. "It’s my fault. I’ve been too busy recently and haven’t really spent time with you. I’m free today. Do you want to go anywhere? I’ll accompany you."

Naturally, Mrs. Taylor was overjoyed to hear this.

"That’s great. I’m going to the mall. Why don’t you come with me?"

"Okay." Yvonne nodded in agreement.

She followed Mrs. Taylor to the most famous mall in Tomaville.

After they arrived at the mall, Mrs. Taylor took her out for a tour.

It had to be said that Mrs. Taylor was extraordinarily competitive.

Almost none of the shops that they patronized, did they leave empty-handed, and her mother- in-law was very generous. Judging from her familiarity with the attendants, she must be a regular.

It was an eye-opener for Yvonne.

"Oh yeah, Yvonne, have you found anything you like after shopping for so long? I’ll buy it for you."

Halfway through the walk, Mrs. Taylor suddenly asked her.

She was not expecting this so she shook her head and said, "It’s okay. I don’t need anything."

"No way. How can I allow you to return empty-handed? Chose something."

Mrs. Taylor said.

Yvonne replied, "I’m just here to accompany you. There’s really no need."

Seeing that she kept declining, Mrs. Taylor continue to push.

Yvonne trailed behind Mrs. Taylor and thought about her objective for the day. She paused for a moment before saying, "Mom, we’ve been so busy lately that we often come home late and haven’t had dinner or time to chat with you. Are you okay with this?"

"I’m used to it. What’s there to be unaccustomed to?" Mrs. Taylor said. "I don’t mind the fact that you’re always home only late at night and don’t talk to me much. As long as I know that you are home every day, I feel safe."

After hearing what Mrs. Taylor had said, Yvonne suddenly felt a little emotional. So that was what her mother-in-law really feels and think.

Seemed like there was no need for her to continue to probe.

Just as Yvonne was thinking about this, Mrs. Taylor suddenly pulled her into a luxury store.

There were several luxury brands and items in this store, including clothes, shoes, hats, bags, and accessories. Whatever a woman needs, it’s all available.

"Yvonne, come here. These are suitable for you youngsters. Pick a few. My gifts to you."

Mrs. Taylor pulled her into the store and stood in front of the shelves.

Yvonne, on the other hand, looked blankly at the dazzling array of luxury goods. She felt overwhelmed. She casually glanced at them and found that they were all tagged with sky-high prices.

Although she knows about these luxurious brands and products, she could not afford them.

She hurriedly declined and said, "It’s all right. I have everything. I don’t lack anything."

However, Mrs. Taylor rebuked her. "Women always need more clothes and accessories. You must choose something that you like, not just clothes, but also bags and jewelry, and so on. Get a perfect matching set."

...

Without giving her a chance to refuse, Mrs. Taylor pulled her along to choose some luxury goods.

"How about this one? Do you like it?"

"This one is also good. And that, that..."

Mrs. Taylor went through them one by one. It didn’t take long for her to pick more than a dozen.

Seeing that if she did not express her opinion, Mrs. Taylor was going to continue picking, she had no choice but to pick one out.

"This one."

She picked a white sweater.

However, Mrs. Taylor wasn’t satisfied. "Let’s try them all. If they’re all pretty, we’ll just buy them all."

Yvonne was so shocked that she could not speak. If she bought all of them, that’s probably the cost of one villa.

Was there a need to spend so extravagantly?

However, Mrs. Taylor didn’t give her a chance to refuse. She asked the attendant to lead her into the fitting room.

Just like that, she was pushed into the fitting room by the attendant.

Piece after piece of exquisite clothes were put on Yvonne, the model, as if she was walking the catwalk.

In the end, Mrs. Taylor was satisfied with all the fitting and so bought everything.

Yvonne wanted to stop her but was refused by Mrs. Taylor.

"You haven’t even useused the shopping card I gave you. I still have to personally come and do it myself."

Yvonne wanted to say that it wasn’t true because she did use the card to buy an evening gown.

However, when she thought about it, she realized that it was nothing compared to what her mother-in-law had bought that day.

So she simply shut up.

The attendant said enviously as she took her measurements.

"Old Mrs. Taylor really dotes on you. You’re so lucky."

Yvonne stood there and allowed the attendant to measure her. She could not help but sigh in her heart.

It is true that Mrs. Taylor treated her very well.

Her treatment of her daughter-in-law was far better than that of any ordinary mother-in-law to a daughter-in-law.

Moreover, Mrs. Taylor was from a wealthy family.

Before she met Mrs. Taylor, she had been worried that Mrs. Taylor would be a snobbish and difficult mother-in-law.

After all, powerful and affluent families value marriage alliances that match in status and wealth.

Although the Whites had a solid social status and wealth, in recent years, they have declined to a level inferior to the Taylors. In terms of social status, she had advanced by marrying James Taylor.

Unexpectedly, Mrs. Taylor did not have the arrogant airs of a daughter or wife of her wealthy families. Instead, she was a considerate and protective mother-in-law.

It was almost impossible to find such a good mother-in-law.

That’s the reason why she drank the soup without any complaints every night even though she knew it was to promote pregnancy.

It’s disappointing that there was no sign at all in her stomach.

Thinking of this, Yvonne felt that she had let Mrs. Taylor down.

"How is it? Are you done?"

Just as Yvonne was in deep thoughts, Mrs. Taylor came forward and asked.

She got back to reality. "Yes. We are done."

"Then let’s go. They’ll send these to our house."

As she spoke, she pulled Yvonne out of the door.

When they walked past a baby supplies store, Mrs. Taylor suddenly stopped in her tracks and looked into the store.

Seeing her stop, Yvonne was a little surprised. She then looked over and found that she was staring blankly at a baby pram in the display window.

It was pink, and the decoration was very fairytale like.

Mrs. Taylor’s gaze fell on pram and she couldn’t tear her eyes away from it. It seems she was looking forward to it.

When Yvonne saw Mrs. Taylor with that expression, she immediately understood.

Her gaze grew dim.

It seemed that Mrs. Taylor was desperate for a grandchild.
