"That’s such a pity. I wanted to perform a rite for her and comfort her soul in heaven. But since I know nothing about what had happened back then, how can I start?"

As Yvonne spoke, she lowered her head, looking dejected.

Aunt Lisa couldn’t bear to see her like this.

After all, Yvonne had just bought her a favorite treat.

"I’m sorry, Yvonne. I might not be able to help you."

Seeing this, Yvonne shook her head and pretended not to care. "It doesn’t matter. If you don’t want to help, then forget it. I was still thinking of arranging a position for my cousin in the Taylor Group, but it seems that he doesn’t need it anymore."

She sighed regretfully.

When Aunt Lisa heard this, her interest was immediately aroused. It should be noted that she was most worried about her disappointing son. He was about to graduate from college, but he still could not find a decent job.

Since the White Enterprise was going downhill, if he could join the Taylor Group, that would be excellent.

With this, she hurriedly said.

"... well, it’s not that I can’t remember. It was just too tragic. As you know, it is forbidden to mention about what happened to your mom in our family."

Hearing her words, Yvonne looked at her intently. "Aunt Lisa, do you mean that you remember ?remember?"

She nodded hesitantly.

"Please tell me everything you know."

Aunt Lisa looked around carefully before whispering, "Before that, you have to promise me that you won’t let your father and aunt know about this, or I’ll be in trouble."

Yvonne nodded. "Of course, only you and I know that we met today. There won’t be a third person who will know."

Aunt Lisa was satisfied when she heard this. She paused for a moment then said, "Speaking of which, I also think that what had happened to your mom was quite strange."

"Oh? How so?"

"I don’t know the exact details. I only know that during your grandfather’s birthday, Grace suddenly summoned the entire family together and showed all of us something very nasty."

At this point, Aunt Lisa paused for a prolonged period, as if it was a little difficult for

her to articulate it.

Yvonne looked at her expression and quickly made a guess. She took out the envelope from her bag and handed it to her, saying, "These?"

Aunt Lisa was stunned. She glanced at Yvonne, reached out to open the envelope, and one could tell from her expression that it was obvious she had seen its content before this.

She put down the photos and looked at Yvonne in surprise.

"These photos..."

"Aunt Grace gave them to me."

Yvonne said.

A trace of relief appeared on Aunt Lisa’s face when she heard this.

Upon hearing that it was Grace who had given the photos to Yvonne, she was obviously a little bolder than before.

"Yes, these photos. At that time, we were quite surprised. After all, your mother always gave everyone the impression that she was a well-educated and well- brought up lady. How could she do such a thing? It was really unbelievable. However, faced with these photos, even if we didn’t believe it, there was nothing else we can do."

Aunt Lisa sighed helplessly.

Yvonne understood.

Indeed, under those circumstances, most people would be inclined to believe what they saw, and superficial impressions were not rock solid references.

...

"What happened next?"

Yvonne asked.

Aunt Lisa continued, "Your grandfather called your father aside. As to what they said, we don’t know. We only know that after your grandfather talked to your father, he instructed everyone not to ever mention this ever again. Then on your mom’s birthday, as you know, she jumped and disappeared."

Aunt Lisa sighed regretfully.

Even though she already knew the ending, Yvonne still clenched her fists tightly when she heard Aunt Lisa say it once again.

She held back for a long time before saying, "What about before that? Was there anything unusual about my mom?"

Aunt Lisa shook her head. "I don’t know. You know that your grandpa doesn’t really like my husband so we rarely go over to visit."

Yvonne knew this.

However, what she just heard from Aunt Lisa, she already knew.

What she really wanted to know now, was what exactly happened.

She asked. "Aunt Lisa, can you think through it again carefully. What else was there? For example, did anything unusual occur before my mom jumped off the building?"

Aunt Lisa thought for a moment before shaking her head once again.

Seeing this, Yvonne was a little disappointed. It was likely, she was going to return empty-handed.

What should she do?

Since she couldn’t get anything out of Aunt Lisa, she couldn’t tell what was Grace up to.

Just as Yvonne was about to give up...

Aunt Lisa suddenly said, "Oh yes, I remember something."

Hearing this, her spirits was instantly lifted. "Quick, tell me."

"I remember seeing the man in the photo at Grace’s school gate a few days before your mom’s birthday. I remember that it was your grandfather who had asked me to pick up Grace that day."

"However, when we got there, I didn’t get out of the car because the sun was too bright."

"Later on, I saw Grace coming out from the school. The man was waiting at the school gate. I do not know what he said to Grace then."

"I saw Grace put a book in his arms, then he left."

"At that time, I only felt that the man looked familiar, but I didn’t pay too much attention on this incident. I thought that he might have been Grace’s classmate."

"A year after your mom’s death, I met that man again at an event. Only then did I recall that he was the man in the photo."

Hearing this, in her heart, Yvonne understood that her hunch was right. Sure enough, Grace had something to do with it.

"Do you know where to find this man?"

She asked.

Aunt Lisa shook her head. "We only met once at the event and we didn’t interact."

Hearing this, Yvonne’s hope was dashed once again.

"Yvonne, I’ve told you everything that I know. Then about your cousin..."

Aunt Lisa reminded her.

"Don’t worry. I will keep my promise."

Hearing her words, Aunt Lisa was instantly relieved.

After leaving the Domini Bansel Bakery, Yvonne felt as if a huge rock was weighing down on her heart.

She finally found a clue from Aunt Lisa, but it stopped there.

Now, the most important thing was the man in the photo. Perhaps he was the only person who truly knew exactly what happened then.

How was she going to find that man? Searching for him was as easy as looking for a needle in the haystack.

Just thinking about it filled her heart with immense uncertainty.

She stood at the door and closed her eyes, tired. Just as she was about to leave, her phone rang. It was James.

She sorted her emotions before answering the phone.

"Where are you?"

His voice sounded from the other end.

She glanced at the endless traffic in front of her and said, "I’m just about to go back to the company."

On the other end of the line, he could tell that she didn’t sound right. He asked worriedly, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing. Have you had lunch?"

He glanced at the time. He had been so worried about her that he had forgotten to eat. "Not yet. I was just waiting for you to come back."

It was already very late and she too, had yet to eat as well. "All right."

She hung up and walked toward the car.

Not long after, she was back at the office.

"Why is there only one lunch?"

Seeing that she had only one takeout in her hand, he asked in confusion. She paused and said, "I’ve already eaten."

She put the food on the coffee table and poured him a cup of coffee.

He did not ask further. He took the coffee, took a sip, put it aside, and began to eat his lunch.

She sat beside him and watched him in silence.

The truth was, she didn’t eat anything for lunch.

She didn’t have any appetite after her conversation with Aunt Lisa.

She couldn’t imagine how her mom was framed by Grace.

How much suffering did her mom go through then?

She was so preoccupied with her thoughts that she did not know that James had noticed her anxiety.

Seeing that she looked sullener than in the morning, he stopped eating.

He placed the food aside, took another sip of coffee before asking, "Yvonne, do you have something on your mind?"

Hearing this, she jumped then slowly turned her dull eyes toward him.

At that instant, she wanted to tell him all her worries, yet she had her concerns for sharing.

After all, this concerned her mom’s reputation, and she had yet to find out what was the truth.

Besides, she did not want her problems to spoil his mood.

So she hurriedly swept away her melancholy look and put on a smile before saying, "No. Have you finished? I’ll put it away."

She quickly changed the topic and was about to get up to put away the stuff on the table when he stopped her.

"Let me do it."

He said as he snatched the takeout from her hands and put them away.

As he was busy cleaning up, she stood there watching him and closed her eyes as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.

Hopefully, he didn’t notice anything.

He cleared the table and said to her, "You look tired. Why don’t you lie down on the sofa and have a rest."

"How can I do that? There is still work..."

Before she could finish, he had dragged her to the sofa.

He made her sit down and said, "You’re my wife, not my subordinate. Have a good rest."

When she didn’t move, he simply knelt down and took off her shoes for her, laid her down and pulled a throw over her.

"Rest."

He said softly.

She had wanted to struggle to get up, but when she met his gentle gaze, she gave in.

Perhaps she really should take a nap. Perhaps she would be able to think of a better solution when she woke up.

...

With that thought in mind, she closed her eyes obediently.

Not long after, she fell into a deep sleep.

James stood beside her and stared at her sleeping face for a while before quietly walking away.

As soon as he closed the internal door, his assistant knocked and came into his office.

"Mr. Taylor..."

Hammer was about to speak when he met James’ gaze.

He could tell that James did not want to wake up his wife so he immediately lowered his voice.

"Mr. Taylor, we have some information from our investigation."

Hearing this, James glanced at the closed door and said.

"Let’s talk outside."

He walked out of the office quietly with Hammer behind him.

"What is it?"

James asked as they walked out of the office.

"You had asked me to investigate the White Enterprise, and I found that everything seemed normal over there. Nothing unusual."

"Oh?"

James was puzzled.

If there is nothing going on at the White Enterprise then what was Yvonne worried about?

Was there something he didn’t know.

He turned to Hammer and said.

"Continue to send people to keep an eye on the White Enterprise and Mrs. Taylor. Follow her around and report to me promptly."

"Yes."

Hammer turned around and walked away.

James stood at the door, stroking his chin and thinking.

Yvonne slept for the entire afternoon. When she woke up, she found that it was very dark in the room. She checked the time and was shocked to see that it was already

seven o’clock.

Had she slept for more than five hours?

Realizing that it was pass the office hours, she quickly lifted the throw and got up.

She hurried out and found that the light in the office area was still bright.

James was at his desk, concentrating on the documents in his hands and did not notice her presence.

In the soft light, his angular face gave her a sense of security.

He was still there, waiting for her.

She thought that he might have gone home first.

She felt assured and contented. Though, there was also a sense of guilt.

After all, it was already very late, yet he was still there to keep her company. It was her fault for sleeping so long.

In her heart, she was reproachful of herself as she walked over to him. "Why... why didn’t you wake me up?"

Hearing her voice, he looked up. When he saw that she had woken up, he put down the document in his hand, got up, walked to her side, and said, "I still have some work to do. Since you are awake, let’s go back."

He picked up the coat on the back of the chair, took her hand, and walked out.

On the way back, as he drove, he looked out of the window as if he was looking for something.

"What do you want to eat tonight? I told Mom that we’ll eat out tonight." He sought her opinion.

She hesitated for a moment when she heard his question. Even though she did not have much of an appetite, she thought of how he must be hungry after waiting for her for so long. She looked out of the window and said, "Let’s just find a random place nearby."

He nodded and stopped the car in front of a restaurant.

The two got out of the car one after the other and walked into the restaurant. Only then did they discover that it was an all-you-can -eat restaurant (AYCE) restaurant. It was full and rowdy. It seemed that the business was extremely good.

"How’s all-you-can-eat?"

He wanted to make sure she was okay about it.
