Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Bewitchment

Qiao Suluo wasn’t sure if Bai Qianluo’s body would instinctively reject her, so she carefully and hesitantly placed her hand over his. She would wait for him to adapt before continuing.

Honestly, she felt she completely understood what they were going through. If she were in Bai Qianluo’s shoes, just thinking about all those terrible things she had done... they would never forgive her. In fact, they probably wished she were dead. But they hadn’t treated her that way, which was already incredibly kind of them. They were genuinely good men.

Qiao Suluo placed her hand in his palm, and the sight of it was almost unbearable to look at. Bai Qianluo’s fingers were long and slender like bamboo, with distinct joints and skin whiter than snow. They resembled exquisitely carved ancient jade—smooth, delicate, and utterly perfect. Her chubby hand resting on his completely ruined the aesthetic. Furthermore, the skin on her fingers was somewhat sallow, creating a stark and unflattering contrast with his fair complexion. It made her feel a little embarrassed to even touch him.

Although she had consumed a third of the detoxification medicine and her body wasn’t as dark as before, toxins still lingered in her system, leaving her fingers with a dull, yellowish hue. She couldn’t help but gently curl her fingers inward.

Noticing that she hadn’t moved or spoken for a while, Bai Qianluo asked softly, "Is my wife feeling unwell?"

Snapping back to reality, Qiao Suluo quickly replied, "No, I’m fine."

"Then you may continue."

Hearing this, Qiao Suluo’s tongue nearly tied itself in a knot. "C-Continue."

At that moment, she finally registered the cool temperature of his skin. The light touch felt like a jolt of electricity, causing her fingers to tremble slightly. Unsure of herself, she consulted the system in her mind. "System, how exactly do I use my spiritual power to soothe him?"

"Just as you did with Chu Moyuan before," the system explained. "Gently stroke him, use your will to draw out your spiritual power, and channel it into his body. That will soothe him." Fearing she wouldn’t understand, the system broke it down for her again in detail.

Having grasped the process, Qiao Suluo steadied her nerves and looked at Bai Qianluo. "I’m going to start now."

"Alright."

She gently caressed his hand with her fingers, simultaneously releasing her spiritual power. Following the system’s instructions, she channeled the energy through their physical contact to soothe him.

In that instant, Bai Qianluo distinctly felt the surge of her spiritual power. Her aura washed over the barren wasteland of his Spiritual Sea like warm sunlight. The myriad cracks and scars seemed to be smoothed over bit by bit, and the lingering pain from his past injuries began to slowly dissipate. His sensitive spirit felt as if it were being gently stroked and caressed by warm fingers... It was like vines creeping up his body, every single leaf brushing against his most sensitive nerves.

The sensation made his physical body hypersensitive. The blood in his veins began to boil, practically screaming at him to draw closer to her. He couldn’t suppress a slight shudder. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he seemingly swallowed down a wave of repressed emotion.

Since it was Qiao Suluo’s first time using her spiritual power to soothe someone, she had no idea how effective it was. She simply watched his facial expressions closely. Seeing his complexion look a bit off, she nervously stopped. "Is it uncomfortable?"

"No... I’m not uncomfortable." Bai Qianluo’s voice came out fractured, the tail end of his words catching in a faint, trembling moan. His breathing had become completely erratic.

"Then... should I continue?"

Stripped of its usual cold detachment, his voice was low and hoarse. "That... that’s enough."

He was afraid that if she continued, he would be the one to lose control. The sensation was akin to having consumed an Enchanting Flower. It was Bai Qianluo’s first time being soothed by a female beast’s spiritual power, and he never expected it to feel like this. The overwhelming wave of pleasure made him want to pull her close, to even...

"Are you sure you don’t need me to continue? Is your body feeling any better?" Qiao Suluo was completely clueless about all of this. She wondered if she had done something wrong during the soothing process.

"Yes, much better." He was telling the truth. The residual pain from his old injuries had completely vanished, leaving his body feeling incredibly light and comfortable. It felt as though he were wrapped in a cozy blanket of warmth.

"That’s good." That meant her efforts hadn’t been in vain. "You should go back to your room and rest for a bit."

The system had told her that after a spiritual soothing, male beasts required sleep to recover. Once they woke up, their mental state would be thoroughly restored.

Bai Qianluo nodded and retreated to his room.

Turning around, Qiao Suluo suddenly spotted Que Hongjin standing in the doorway of the kitchen. He still looked as breathtakingly elegant as ever. However, as he gazed at her, his eyes darkened like deep, bottomless pools, seemingly suppressing some intense emotion. With a rare stroke of perception, Qiao Suluo sensed that he was displeased.

Recalling how desperately he had fought to protect her, she felt she ought to show him some care. She walked over and asked, "Que Hongjin, are you feeling unwell? Do you want me to soothe your spiritual power too?" She wondered if he would reject the offer.

Que Hongjin replied in his refined tone, "I thought my wife would only use her spiritual power to soothe Bai Qianluo."

Qiao Suluo’s eyelid twitched. Instinctively, she retorted, "Of course not! If any of you need it, I’ll use my spiritual power to soothe you. I just want you all to feel a bit more comfortable."

Leaning down slightly, Que Hongjin whispered lazily into her ear, "My wife wants me to feel... comfortable?"

Qiao Suluo was briefly taken aback. The way he phrased it felt a bit odd, perhaps carrying an underlying implication she didn’t quite grasp. But she didn’t overthink it and nodded earnestly. "Naturally."

Looking into her clear, innocent eyes, Que Hongjin reached out and gently pulled her into his arms. "What a silly girl," he murmured helplessly.

The way she was now... He truly didn’t know what to do with her. Did she really not harbor a single impure thought about him?

Unable to decipher his expression, Qiao Suluo ventured a guess. "Do you need it right now? Do you need my spiritual soothing?"

Que Hongjin gazed down at her, his eyes shimmering with the mesmerizing light of the moon—bewitching and utterly captivating.

"Yes. I am always in need of my wife’s spiritual soothing," he said. "However, my wife needs to eat first." He couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go hungry.

Qiao Suluo nodded. It was true that eating would give her more energy. The hot rice and dishes waiting in the pot hadn’t been cooked by her, but they tasted quite delicious.

Que Hongjin didn’t eat. Instead, he attentively served her, ensuring she was well taken care of throughout the meal. After she finished, he naturally cleared the table, gathered the bowls and chopsticks, and washed the dishes. Even while doing such mundane chores, his figure remained incredibly elegant and pleasing to the eye.

Once he was done cleaning up, Qiao Suluo offered, "Que Hongjin, should I soothe your spiritual power now?"

He looked deeply into her eyes. A slow smile spread across his lips, and his stunning eyes seemed to ripple with fragmented, glittering light. "Alright."

He was already breathtakingly handsome, but that smile—radiating the gentle allure of moonlight on water—made him look as flawless as jade, like an ethereal immortal descending to earth. After a brief pause, he added, "It’s just that it’s not very convenient out here. Would my wife mind coming to my room?"

His voice carried a bewitching timbre, brushing against her heartstrings like a soft feather. It coaxed an instinctual nod from her. "Okay."

It wasn’t until she snapped back to reality, realizing she had already followed him into his bedroom, that she sensed something was slightly amiss. But before she could voice her doubts, the door to his room clicked shut behind them.
