Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Sparking a Craze

Qiao Suluo was taken aback for a moment. "Do we need to close the door?" They were only doing a little physical contact to soothe him. Was closing the door really necessary?

Que Hongjin’s eyes flickered slightly. "Does my wife dislike being alone in a room with me?" he asked in a low, elegant voice. He looked down at her, the faint shadows cast by his eyelashes giving him an air of fragile beauty.

Qiao Suluo immediately thought of his broken wing and how he would never fly again. That was a cruel fate for a Flying Beastman. She could not help but feel a pang of sympathy for him.

"No, it’s not that," she tried to explain. "I’m just worried that it might make you uncomfortable or that you won’t be used to it." In the past, the original owner of her body loved to close the doors to abuse Que Hongjin with all sorts of tools, leaving his body covered in scars. Because of this, she was afraid that closing the door would trigger those terrible memories or make him feel unsafe.

"It won’t."

Qiao Suluo was baffled by his response. Seeing her confused expression, Que Hongjin sighed softly in his heart. His wife was truly dense nowadays. If he didn’t spell things out clearly, she would never understand.

Que Hongjin gazed down at her with deep, mesmerizing eyes that looked as if they were brimming with water. Leaning forward, he bent down slightly, his warm breath brushing against her ear. "No matter what my wife does to me, I will never feel uncomfortable," he added with a teasing curl of his lips. "In fact, as long as my wife likes it, she can do anything she wants to me."

As he spoke those last words, his tone hitched up at the end. His jade-black eyes locked onto her, his pupils flashing with a faint, pale green glint. He exuded an enchanting gentleness. His words were like honey-coated hooks, tugging at her heartstrings and making her heart race wildly.

Qiao Suluo instinctively wanted to step back, but the door was right behind her. She reached out and pressed her hands against his chest to keep him at bay, but the heat radiating through his clothes seeped into her palms and sent a tremor straight to her heart.

Que Hongjin looked down at her hands. "Is my wife worried about what I might do?"

Qiao Suluo shook her head. "N-no. I know my place. Looking the way I do, there’s no way you’d do anything to me." As she spoke, she looked up, only to crash straight into his picturesque, ink-dark eyes. It was as if moonlight had fallen into them, casting a radiant, mesmerizing glow that she found hard to resist. She had never experienced a situation like this in her previous life and had no idea how to handle it.

"Hmm?" Que Hongjin murmured, dragging out the sound. His voice was like a spring willow brushing against a calm lake, effortlessly stirring up ripples. That single, simple syllable sounded incredibly pleasant.

Qiao Suluo could clearly hear her own erratic heartbeat. Gulping, she explained, "I’m just afraid that I might do something to you and make you hate me."

Que Hongjin found her reaction rather amusing. He thought his current wife was extremely cute. His long, well-defined fingers pinched a lock of her hair, slowly twirling it around his fingertip. "But no matter what my wife does to me, I won’t hate it," he murmured, his tone thick with ambiguity. "I’ll only..." He would only look forward to what she might do to him.

"You’ll only what?"

Que Hongjin was afraid of scaring her if he was too direct. Some things had to be taken slowly. Shifting his tone, he said, "I’ll only hope that my wife can use her spiritual power to soothe me more. My broken wing makes my body hurt a lot. If it drags on, it’s easy for me to go feral and lose my mind. That’s why I really need my wife’s spiritual soothing.

"It will ease the pain... COUGH... COUGH...

"My wife has never soothed me before."

As he spoke, Que Hongjin reverted back to his fragile, weak demeanor, even coughing a few times for good measure.

Seeing him like this, Qiao Suluo hurriedly said, "Then let’s start the spiritual soothing right now."

"Alright," he agreed.

Qiao Suluo placed her fingers on his hand, ready to begin. To her surprise, he seductively whispered, "My wife can hold me while soothing me."

"Ah..."

The suggestion startled her. She wouldn’t dare. But Que Hongjin stepped forward and slowly, gently wrapped his arms around her. "It’ll feel better this way."

The moment he hugged her, he sighed contentedly in his heart. He didn’t know where she came from, nor did he know how many secrets she harbored. All he knew was that she was so wonderful, and he never wanted to let her go. With such beautiful, expressive eyes, her true self must be stunningly gorgeous as well.

Qiao Suluo’s body stiffened the second he embraced her. She could smell the faint, pine-like fragrance radiating from him—dark, alluring, and enchanting. His skin was burning hot, sending a surge of electricity straight to her heart as their breaths intertwined in the air.

It reminded her of that rainy day in the mountains when he had carried her on his back, walking home step by step. She couldn’t bear to push him away. She simply felt that if such a breathtakingly beautiful man didn’t find her repulsive and was willing to hold her, she certainly wasn’t the one losing out. If anything, it was hard on him to be willing to hug her like this just for spiritual soothing. To be honest, this body was dark and plump; even she was disgusted by it.

Qiao Suluo reached out and hugged him back. Placing her hands on his back, she gently stroked him as she released her spiritual power, channeling it into his body bit by bit. "Is this a little better? I’m releasing my spiritual power slowly. Tell me if it makes you uncomfortable."

Que Hongjin felt his normally flawless self-control nearly slip away in that instant. "My wife, it’s not enough," he said in a low, husky voice by her ear. "I want... more."

For some reason, hearing those words made Qiao Suluo’s ears tingle. Her body went soft, and her mouth felt dry. Unable to help herself, she unleashed all of her spiritual power at once, flooding his body with it.

A suppressed grunt escaped Que Hongjin’s lips.

"Que Hongjin?" Qiao Suluo pushed him away slightly, wanting to see how he was doing.

To her surprise, his picturesque features were now flushed. A red tide had flooded his eyes, making them resemble dazzling, blood-colored glass. It gave him a lethal, enchanting beauty—like a seductive illusion with a trace of decadence. Qiao Suluo was so stunned by his beauty that she forgot to react.

Que Hongjin released her slightly and squeezed his eyes shut, his long eyelashes trembling. He had to suppress the sudden restlessness surging through his body. Enduring it was incredibly agonizing. Within his Spiritual Sea, he had actually seen the real her. He had felt her true aura, her soul form, and her soul’s essence.

"Que Hongjin, how are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable? I’ll soothe you a little more." Saying that, Qiao Suluo leaned in again and released her spiritual power, pressing her fingers against his body.

But this time, Que Hongjin suddenly grabbed her wrist. Qiao Suluo felt as though the burning heat of his palm was scorching her skin.

"Why are you so hot?" It was an unnatural kind of heat.

Que Hongjin slowly opened his eyes. The flush had faded slightly, but the corners of his eyes were still red and moist. "Does my wife not know?" he asked, his breathing ragged.

"Know what?" Meeting Que Hongjin’s gaze, Qiao Suluo felt like the situation was spiraling out of control. She could not help but call out to her system. "System, what’s going on?"

The system was just as shocked by the scene unfolding before it. "I’m sorry, Host! I forgot to tell you that if you inject too much spiritual power past a certain threshold, it can trigger a male beast’s heat—just like they’ve eaten an Enchanting Flower. I didn’t expect your spiritual power to be this strong."
