Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2695: Shot by Someone
Last year, when Sylvan Cheney was living together with her, she considered being with him earnestly, so although he hurt her many times, she brushed it off with a smile.
He said many hurtful things, also hurting Yukon, yet precisely because she hoped to be together, when he bought her a bouquet of yellow roses, she accepted.
She took many steps back, retreating again and again.
Until she found there was no way back, standing already on the brink.
When she wrote letters to Yukon Carbon, it was always with ease, because Yukon had never burdened her with anything; meeting him, his sacrifices far outweighed hers. Even when she returned to Cakago after becoming pregnant, he didn’t ask a thing, still treating her kindly.
In others’ eyes, she was pregnant out of wedlock, entangled ambiguously with a man, but he never judged her that way.
She knew of his kindness to her.
And precisely because of this, she wouldn’t hurt him again; keeping distance was taking responsibility for him.
It was also taking responsibility for Aunt Camden.
The letter she wrote to Yukon Carbon was long, it took a long time to write.
After finishing, she folded the paper into the envelope, then took out a new sheet to write to Luka Xadrian and Chris Fern.
Regarding this father and brother, her feelings were complex.
They were also very good and caring towards her, yet ultimately, having been absent for over twenty years, their relationship couldn’t draw close enough.
No matter what, they are still among the people closest to her.
Luka Xadrian is a very good father and a genius designer, while the memory-lost Chris Fern is also an excellent brother, introverted and not fond of speaking, but his medical genius is undeniable.
Past events, like a fleeting dream.
She hopes Chris Fern never recalls those former things; losing memory, for him, marks a rebirth.
She wrote letters to each of them, asking them not to worry about her, telling them she simply went to somewhere quiet with Little Clementine, where they would be well.
She also wrote a letter to Charles Mcintosh, though she still didn’t know where Charles had gone; from hints in the old master’s words, it seemed he got into conflict searching for Little Lilac, was shot, and disappeared.
No one knows anything else.
But she wrote a letter to Charles anyway, hoping one day he might see it.
The lamp emitted a soft light, the pale yellow glow reflecting on her face, imparting more gentle beauty to her tender countenance.
The entire afternoon, she spent writing letters; beneath the pen flowed quiet words.
The beautiful characters sprung onto the pages, carrying her emotions and longing.
Throughout these years, she endured various hardships, narrowly escaping death several times, but recalling now, it amounts to nothing, since she has Little Clementine now.
With Little Clementine here, her hope remains.
No more suffering in the future, a closure to everything before.
She left with Little Clementine quietly, no longer disturbed by anyone.
In the evening, after Little Clementine awoke, she gazed at Jasmine Yale with big eyes, her little hand moving around.
Jasmine turned around, meeting Little Clementine’s smiling face, and she smiled too.
"Woken up? Hungry?" Jasmine stood up, lifting Little Clementine from the bed.
Little Clementine curiously looked at the paper on the table, wanting to reach for it.
"Not to take it." Jasmine held her hand, giving her a rabbit, "Tonight, Mommy will take you to ride the little train again."
Having left Cakago, Little Clementine didn’t have any little trains to play with.
