Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2686: Snuck Out and Got Pregnant

  • Next Chapter

Jasmine Yale’s voice was full of cheer as she kept scratching Sweet Kitty; the gloom on her face scattered in that moment.

Sweet Kitty looked utterly content, and just like a long time ago, especially loved lying in Jasmine Yale’s arms.

"Yukon, this little one is...?" Jasmine Yale’s gaze fell again on the kitten beside them.

The little cream kitten lounged lazily, yellow and white mixed, very good-looking.

"This is Sweet Kitty’s daughter. Sweet Kitty had three kittens, I gave two to friends and kept this one, the one she’s closest to." Yukon Carbon explained patiently.

"Huh?" Jasmine Yale was even more surprised, then she laughed. "So Sweet Kitty is already a mom. I’m really such an unqualified owner, I didn’t even know. This little kitten is so pretty, she looks like Sweet Kitty when she was little."

"Exactly, Sweet Kitty’s a mom now. I made a special trip by car this time, just so you could see them."

"Yukon, you always seem to know what I like, what I want to see."

"We’ve known each other a long time after all. What you like, I couldn’t know better, could I?"

Yukon Carbon sat down beside Jasmine Yale and bent over a bit, watching her play with the cats.

Sometimes he would also stretch out a hand to tease Sweet Kitty, just like long ago when he and Jasmine Yale sat in the bakery’s yard, enjoying the breeze and playing with Sweet Kitty together.

Yukon Carbon couldn’t help but think of that time.

Jasmine Yale’s thoughts also jumped back to those days.

Back then, she had also lived a period of steady days—very ordinary, not even the slightest waves—but she missed it deeply.

That life had been the closest to her ideal: a little shop, a small courtyard, with sunlight, potted plants, flowers, coffee, and a lazy cat.

"Yukon, in Old York... have you been doing okay?" Jasmine Yale asked.

"Same as ever. Work, social dinners, occasionally going out to play volleyball. Life’s pretty regular, just no one goes out for hotpot with me anymore."

"Meow..." Sweet Kitty called once, looking very well-behaved.

"You will, you’ll have that again..." Jasmine Yale didn’t look into Yukon Carbon’s eyes; her voice was soft.

"What about you? I heard you quit your job."

"Mm. I was too tired from work, so I quit. I want to spend more time with Little Clementine." Jasmine Yale didn’t say much more and changed the subject instead. "What’s the kitten called? And what about her dad?"

"She doesn’t have a name yet. Why don’t you give her one?"

"Hmm... how about Smallie? Look how tiny she is."

"Ha, sure, Smallie it is. As for Smallie’s dad, I don’t know who he is either. One day Sweet Kitty snuck out, and then she was pregnant. Seeing how pretty Smallie is, I’d guess her dad’s not bad either."

Jasmine Yale put Sweet Kitty down and instead picked up the kitten.

The kitten was really small, just like when she’d first found Sweet Kitty.

The little cream kitten opened her tiny eyes to look at Jasmine Yale and gave a light "meow." She was very obedient, not wriggling around and not afraid of strangers.

"Jasmine, I’ve taken care of everything you asked me to do last year. If there’s anything else you need from me, just say it." Yukon Carbon said.

"Aunt Camden... does she still... blame me?"

"Don’t overthink it. My mom’s very busy now, she’s long forgotten a lot of things." Yukon Carbon cut her off. "If you have the chance, come visit Old York. My mom will be very happy to have you."

"And the bakery? Did you sell it?"

"It’s still there. In my heart, I really don’t want to let it go." As he said this, a faint light surfaced in Yukon Carbon’s eyes.
