He didn’t want to make a move, nor did he lack money, so he never sold it.

Several times, he had already found buyers, but when it came time to sign the contract, he backed out and decided not to sell.

Keeping it is quite nice.

Jasmine Yale didn’t say much, holding the little kitten, stroking its soft fur over and over.

Outside the car, there was drizzling rain, yet inside the car, it was warm and pleasant.

Occasionally, Yukon Carbon would tease Sweet Kitty, making her meow, which made Jasmine Yale laugh uncontrollably.

Though an autumn rain brought a chill, it was very cold outside, but Jasmine Yale’s mood improved thanks to the presence of Sweet Kitty and the little kitten.

The car window was covered with rainwater, blurry.

Through this hazy window, Jasmine Yale’s smile was faintly visible; when she smiled, she still looked the same, her face radiant with a bright smile, exposing pearl-white teeth and a pair of large, lively eyes like black grapes.

Her hair was soft, her smile was clear, and she appeared exceptionally gentle, even though the world wasn’t particularly kind to her.

Not far away, Sylvan Cheney sat in the car watching her.

Through the drizzling rain, he silently leaned against the seat.

A cigarette was clasped between the fingers of his right hand, his chiseled face reflecting a deep, unfathomable glow, flickering intermittently.

About twenty minutes later, Jasmine Yale got out of Yukon Carbon’s car, reluctantly leaning on the window to say goodbye to the kittens inside.

Her eyes were filled with reluctance.

After a long time, she finally opened her umbrella, looking back every few steps, walking towards the roadside.

No matter how great the reluctance, farewells must come.

This perhaps is the cruelty of life.

It’s like this with Sweet Kitty, like this with Yukon Carbon, and also with this city.

She didn’t tell Yukon Carbon about her departure, but she was already prepared to leave him a letter when she left.

Jasmine Yale got into a taxi, heading to the children’s hospital.

Little Clementine woke up, sitting alone on the crib playing with plush toys, her big eyes blinking, though still a bit listless, it was much better than in the morning.

Jasmine Yale kissed her a few times as soon as she approached: "Baby is the strongest, it’s alright, you’ll get better, be good, mommy’s here."

"Ma...ma..." Little Clementine called out to her, pouting.

"Mm, mommy’s here."

The little one didn’t know many words, after calling "mommy," she immediately called "daddy."

This time, Jasmine Yale didn’t speak, just patted her little head: "You’ll have a daddy."

Little Clementine sat playing with toys, and Jasmine Yale accompanied her for a while, even feeding her.

The sick Little Clementine wasn’t as lively as usual, her body temperature only returned to normal by evening.

Jasmine Yale stayed with her the whole time, going nowhere, her eyes weary and exhausted.

This rain, continuous and relentless, hadn’t stopped, lasting for three days.

Three days later.

Once Little Clementine was normal, Jasmine Yale felt assured enough to take the little one home.

The bouncing Little Clementine was back, squirming nonstop in Jasmine Yale’s embrace, occasionally nuzzling against Jasmine Yale’s neck, kissing her.

"Little darling, you’ve cheered up again, haven’t you." Jasmine Yale patted her little head.

"Bo-bo."

"Mm, bo-bo, give me a kiss." Jasmine Yale smiled and kissed her.

The mother and daughter were very affectionate, head to head, walking on the hospital’s small path.

The sunlight was bright, the maple leaves were blazing red.

This autumn season was long and chilly.
