Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2683: Mr. Cheney, Are You Getting Married Next Month?

  • Next Chapter

Sylvan Cheney was still watching Little Clementine; as she moved slightly, his eyelashes fluttered in response.

He hadn’t said anything for a long time.

The rain outside continued, yet the soundproofing of the hospital room was excellent, preventing any disturbance. Consequently, Little Clementine slept soundly, undisturbed by external noise.

"I’ll go check on her," Sylvan finally lifted his head after a while.

Before Butler Santana could react, he had already pushed open the door to the next resting room.

He saw Jasmine Yale sleeping with her head on the table, motionless, exhaustion etched on her face, with noticeable dark circles under her eyes. Her hair was messy, suggesting she had left in a hurry; she hadn’t even had time to change her clothes, still wearing her pajamas.

Sylvan frowned, wasn’t she cold?

It was already autumn, and with the rain having just fallen, everywhere was chilly.

Busy taking care of her daughter, she didn’t have time to take care of herself?

Sylvan took off his trench coat and draped it over her.

Whether it was because she was too tired, she did not react at all as he approached her.

He didn’t disturb her further, turned around, closed the door, and left.

"In this state, did she have breakfast?" Sylvan asked.

"She had a bit downstairs, but wasn’t in the mood, probably didn’t eat much," Butler Santana replied truthfully.

"Did she resign?"

Butler Santana was surprised, "Mr. Cheney... how did you know? She did resign."

"What are her plans after resigning?"

"Uh... I’m not really sure. After resigning, Miss Yale spends most of her time with Little Clementine and rarely talks about her feelings. Even though she seems unchanged after resigning, I’ve known her long enough to know she’s not happy. She really liked her work and loved being busy; now she’s suddenly become idle, and she wouldn’t be happy."

Butler Santana spoke quite a bit, yet Sylvan didn’t respond.

Realizing she had spoken too much, she quickly said, "Mr. Cheney, sorry, I shouldn’t have told you this. I’m very sorry, I hope my call this morning didn’t interrupt your life..."

"No worries," he finally spoke, "Take care of them, I’m heading out."

"Alright, you take care."

Butler Santana didn’t try to keep Sylvan, knowing this man’s character is different from others, not the type to be persuaded easily.

He has firm opinions and a controlling nature.

No one can stop him if he wants to do something, and no one can force him if he doesn’t.

This is why she never advised Jasmine to try to win Mr. Cheney back.

Once this man’s heart is decided, it’s like a launched arrow; there’s no turning back.

He’s different from anyone else.

Wearing just a sweater, Sylvan left the place and exited the hospital room.

Butler Santana escorted him to the elevator, and while waiting, she couldn’t help but ask a couple more questions, "Mr. Cheney, getting married next month?"

"Yeah."

"Having known you briefly, I truly wish you a happy family and countless descendants," Butler Santana genuinely expressed.

Sylvan curved his lips slightly, looking at Butler Santana, "You don’t hate me? My treatment of your young lady... was quite merciless."

"Matters of the heart shouldn’t be forced; this isn’t about hate or not. In relationships between men and women, there will certainly be breakups and unions; this is completely normal. The fact that you and Miss Yale couldn’t be together, just means she wasn’t fortunate enough, not your fault."

"I’m the one who lacks that fortune."
