Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 194: Buying Ice Cream
Angel was at the town’s supermarket, pushing a shopping cart around as she looked through the different groceries she needed to buy. The front wheel rattled against the glossy tile while she moved down the bright aisles, her knuckles pale on the handle as her thoughts kept racing.
The moment she reached the frozen section, her eyes landed on the chocolate ice cream. She picked up a two-liter bucket and read the description on the container before letting out a small sigh.
Her mind was still stuck on what had happened that morning.
"I can’t believe I won’t be getting it tonight as well... I should have just kept my mouth shut..." she muttered. Her lips pressed into a thin line while she remembered April’s firm look and the door shutting right in her face.
She stared at the ice cream for a moment before putting it into the cart. Then she picked up four more chocolate ice creams and added them to the cart. The heavy plastic containers stacked with a quick thud, filling up half the wire basket.
She also picked up two one-liter containers of banana-flavored ice cream, just in case her wife decided she did not want chocolate. She checked the seals on the lids, making sure they were frozen solid before dropping them next to the rest.
Recently, April only ate two types of ice cream flavors.
Angel pushed the cart toward the meat section and picked up chicken thighs and sausage for tonight’s dinner. She reached through the glass display, her hand hovering over the cold packages until she found a thick tray of cuts with good color. She tossed them in, the cool plastic sliding against the ice cream tubs.
As she continued pushing the cart, she suddenly smiled when she spotted Del Rosario’s sealed fish and other seafoods products. The glossy packages sat neatly on the shelf, lined up under the white display lights.
Angel was the one who had suggested the branding in the first place. She wanted everything to look more presentable and make it easier for the products to be distributed to other towns. Her thumb traced the bold logo on the top wrapper, a quiet wave of pride warming her chest.
She continued toward the sweets section and began picking up the sweets and snacks April liked to eat whenever her cravings hit. She grabbed bright foil packages of sour chews, cocoa bars, and crunchy bites, throwing them into the cart until the pile reached the rim.
"So many sweets, and you complain about fruits..." she said with a smile. She shook her head softly, her shoulders dropping as her frustration from earlier started to melt away.
Angel continued filling the cart, making sure she had everything her wife might crave. She added two extra bags of salted chips and a small bottle of juice April always asked for after work.
Once she was satisfied, she pushed the cart toward the counter. The wheels rolled smoothly over the smooth floor while she lined herself up behind the other shoppers.
And then she saw her.
Benny was standing in line. Her back was turned, her head tilted down as she stared at her phone while waiting her turn.
Angel’s face changed into a mischievous grin as she walked over and smacked her on the head.
"Ouch!" Benny turned to see Angel standing behind her. She rubbed the spot with her fingers, her eyes wide with shock before she recognized who it was.
"Hey, what a coincidence. This is really, really great.... Why did you smack my head?" Benny said, still holding the back of her head. Her expression shifted into a massive grin that spread across her whole face.
"Just felt like it." Angel shrugged, leaning her weight onto the handle of her cart with an unbothered smirk.
"Anyways, I will let it slide because of what you did for my wife. I’m so grateful to you, Angel... Thanks to you, I woke up next to my beautiful wife this morning..." Benny’s eyes brightened, her shoulders lifting as she took a step closer to Angel’s cart.
"And I am also sure you got breakfast in bed and everything that comes with it..." Angel muttered. She really was not happy about the morning.
"Oh, how did you know? Not just this morning, even last night was amazing. My wife is amazing in bed..." Benny practically bounced on her feet, waving her hands around as she went on and on.
Angel’s eyes twitched as she stared at the Beta flashing her teeth. Benny had fixed her marriage, and Angel had to suffer for it by not getting laid. Her pulse spiked, a knot forming in her stomach as she listened to the Beta boast.
"Bitch, move forward," Angel said. She kicked the front wheel of her shopping cart against the floor to make her point.
Benny turned around and moved forward in the line. She kept on talking about her wonderful night with Mary and wanting to love this new dangerous side of her. She talked about how they had discussed their insecurities and talked everything out. Her voice carried over the sound of the register beeps, drawing a few quick glances from people nearby.
As Benny talked, all Angel did was tighten her grip on the cart handle while moving forward, hoping the Beta would just shut up.
Even when Benny paid for her items, she still waited behind, talking. She held her plastic bags in one hand while tapping her foot against the floor, completely blind to the dark glare Angel was throwing her way.
Angel was done talking and carried her leather bags in both hands. The heavy straps dug into her palms as she lifted the heavy load off the counter. While leaving the supermarket through the entrance, Angel stopped and turned to Benny.
"See, Beta, it’s good that you and your wife have talked it out. Can you not just tell me about the adventures of your sex life? Thanks to you, my own wife denied me... Hey, you better stay away from me..." Angel snapped, her voice dropping into a harsh rasp as she pointed a finger straight at Benny’s nose.
Despite the warnings, Benny was too happy to care. She just laughed, holding her hands up in defense while her smile stayed wide. Angel just groaned and walked out of the store. The warm air hit her face as she loaded her bags into the back seat of her vehicle. She shut the door tight, fired up the engine, and then she drove to the local market for other stuff.
