Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 192: April Knows
Angel kept staring at her wife as she knelt on the floor by her side, in between her legs. April was still patiently waiting for her wife to say something, trying to find the truth and protect the trust they had both been building.
"Papi, I’m waiting... You know you have to drive me to the bookstore..."
Angel kept staring, then her gaze shifted away. Her chin dropped toward her chest as her pulse raced, her jaw locking up tight. April used her fingers to tilt her head back so she could look into her eyes and explain why and how she got injured. Her touch was gentle, but her grip held firm until Angel looked back.
"Do you not trust me anymore? And now you are hiding secrets from me? Come on, Angel. We are one. We are married and having a baby. I gave you my heart despite the red flags I saw when we met. I still chose to be color-blind because I was falling for you, so..."
Angel immediately held her wife’s hand, resting her cheek on her palm. Her fingers wrapped around April’s skin, pressing tightly to catch the warmth.
"Of course I trust you, April, and I really do love what we have right now that I am fucking scared that I am going to lose it all. And I don’t want to lose what we both have... I’m selfish and want what makes me happy by my side."
"Then tell me what happened to your shoulder?"
"I’m scared you are going to stop loving me, that you are going to hate me and leave me..."
"Angel, there’s nothing that you are going to do that will make me leave you. I love you so much that even if you don’t love me anymore, I will still continue to... My love for you is limitless, Angel. Don’t ever have that thought. Leaving you is the last thing I will ever do..." April expressed her feelings with teary, emotional eyes. There was really nothing that would make the Omega stop loving her Alpha. They were already one, and nothing could separate them. A stray tear spilled down her cheek, landing softly on Angel’s knuckles.
Angel stared at her. She saw the assurance she needed, a woman who really loved her unconditionally, and that woman was sitting right in front of her. She was the only reason Angel believed that there really was love and a happy family.
"Mary’s partner or whatever he was to her tried to kill her, and I happened to be there. Then I killed him and like three of his men, and during that process, I got shot... But I’m fine. It was only a graze. The Martinez family nurse treated the wound, and I got the tattoo from P-Priesto’s..." Angel confessed, and that last word, she was trying to avoid the words sexy nun because April had banned her from going there. Her voice cracked slightly on the last phrase, her hands trembling where they rested against April’s legs.
April’s face became more teary as she looked at her wife’s shoulder, staring at the tattoo.
"Does it hurt?"
She did not even care when her wife said she had killed people. It was her Alpha’s well-being she cared more about. Her eyes searched the fresh pink edges around the dark petals, her breath coming in quick, shallow hitches.
Angel was stunned, wondering if she had even registered the word killed.
"Yes, it does, but I can bear the pain, it’s nothing..."
Before Angel could finish her sentence, April pressed the tattoo spot. Her thumb came down right on top of the sore skin.
"Ahhhhhh..." Angel screamed. She jerked back with wide eyes, her whole frame shaking from the shock.
"I thought you said it doesn’t hurt..." April cried. Her voice squeaked as fresh tears ran down her face.
"It did not, and now it does... Don’t do it again." Angel cradled her arm, pulling her body back a few inches.
"Okay, I won’t. Sorry. Did you take medicine, or were you not given any? And if not, let’s head to the clinic for a proper checkup."
"Don’t worry about that. I’m fine."
"No, you are not. You keep saying that, but it’s a lie, I know it’s a lie."
"I said I killed someone, not just one but four. Are you not going to say something about that?" Angel leaned in close, her eyes locked onto April’s face, searching for any sign of fear or disgust.
"What do you want me to say about it? I only care about you, Angel. And also, they deserved it for trying to hurt you and Mary. And never again hang out with the Martinez family, full of guns and bloodshed. Did she compensate you for saving her life?"
"She said thank you and fixed the Jeep."
Angel was really expecting some kind of negative reaction from her Omega, but this was really weird, so she tried again. Her chest felt heavy, her stomach turning as she tried to force the full weight of the truth out into the air.
"Yesterday was not my first kill. I have killed people before, during the time I was in the military..."
April paused. She stopped looking at Angel’s shoulder and looked at her wife. Her hands rested still on her own lap, her gaze turning completely calm.
"Wow, that is rough... Do you want to talk about it?"
Again, Angel was stunned. It was like she was choking but not actually choking.
Was what she was saying entering and leaving her ears?
She swallowed hard, her mouth opening and closing without making a sound for several seconds.
"Bebe, why are you asking like this? I just told you about the awful thing I have done, and you want me to give you the full details?"
"What do you want me to say? Or do you expect me to be mad or..."
"Yeeeessss. I expected you to be... maybe more than mad."
"Well, I am not, and also not surprised. Maybe disappointed that it took you this long to tell me. I was expecting you to tell me during our honeymoon, but you did not..."
"April, you are scaring me."
"Well... you remember the time I told you that Madam visited me and brought me to her private resort..." April began to explain as she recalled that night when Madam wanted April to get Angel out of the district.
"Okay... I’m listening." Angel leaned forward, her voice dropping into a tense whisper as her heart began to hammer against her ribs.
"She did not just tell me about your mom’s death or why she doesn’t want you to end up like your Alpha mom. She also told me about the military and the awful things they made you guys do. Assassinating a whole large number of high-ranking people... I think she called California something, but I have forgotten..."
Now the Alpha was stunned. Her whole body went completely still, her eyes going wide as the air seemed to vanish right out of her lungs. Her fingers froze against the floor, her mind spinning as she realized April had known about her dark past the entire time and still chose to stay by her side.
