Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)

Chapter 167: An Awkward Question

  • Next Chapter

It looked like the Omega customer was really pushing April’s nerves.

Despite knowing that their Alpha already had an owner, the customer was still flirting with Angel while Angel showed her the basics of riding a horse. April had been watching from a distance for a while, sitting quietly and trying her best not to interfere. She knew Angel could handle herself, and she trusted her fiancée, but that did not mean watching another Omega throw herself at Angel was easy.

Angel, on the other hand, seemed completely focused on getting the customer to understand how to handle the horse. She had already explained how to hold the reins, how to keep her balance, and how to position herself properly. Unfortunately, the woman seemed more interested in finding excuses to get closer to Angel than actually learning anything.

"Oh my gosh... the horse is way too big for me to mount. Angel, please help me climb up..."

Angel looked at the horse and then back at the woman, clearly wondering why she was making such a big deal about something that was supposed to be simple.

"Oh my gosh, I’m way too scared to ride alone. I want you to join me. Come closer..."

April’s fingers tightened slightly around the edge of her seat.

She could already tell what the woman was doing.

There was nothing wrong with helping a customer, especially when the customer was nervous. But this woman had been acting nervous every few seconds, and every single time, her solution somehow involved getting closer to Angel.

Angel finally seemed to reach her limit.

"Um, lady, ma’am... are you actually buying a horse today, or are you looking for a mate? What the fuck are you trying to play at?" Angel said, looking straight at the lady.

The woman did not even look embarrassed. Instead, she smiled like she had been waiting for Angel to notice what she was doing.

"I’m trying to learn how to ride this horse, but now that you’re talking about a mate... I don’t really like this horse. My family talks so much about it and just fancies this one... but the moment I laid my eyes on you, cowgirl, I kinda wanna ride you."

April’s expression became colder.

Angel immediately shook her head.

"I have someone who rides me, and I do not want you to ride me. My fiancée over there is trying so hard to hold her temper, and I am too. So if you’re buying this horse, buy it and go find another Alpha to mount."

Angel did not even bother hiding the fact that she was taken. She had already made it clear that April was her fiancée, and she was not interested in whatever game the customer was trying to play.

The customer glanced toward April before looking back at Angel.

"Angel... I want you to know that when I set my eyes on something, I always get it. It doesn’t matter who is standing in my way..."

Angel’s eyes narrowed.

"Well, I am standing in your way. Don’t act too cocky if you don’t want that horse to drag you around the open field. I see you’re not buying the horse, so I need you to leave right now. I need to take her home. She’s had a long day..."

The girl looked completely disappointed and fussy at what Angel was saying.

She had clearly expected Angel to play along with her flirting, but instead, the Alpha had shut her down every time. Even after being rejected several times, the customer still seemed unwilling to accept that Angel was not interested.

She stepped closer again.

This time, she tried to make a physical move on Angel, but Angel quickly moved away from her.

"Please just leave."

The woman stopped and looked at Angel as if she could not believe she was being treated that way.

"Do you even know who I am?"

"I am just meeting you today, so... no."

"My name is Lola Martínez. The last name should scare you. When a Martínez wants something, they get it. I want you, Angel. I’m going to get you..."

Angel did not even bother arguing with her anymore.

She had spent enough time dealing with the woman, and she was more concerned about getting back home with April. She glanced toward the ranch and spotted Dante nearby.

"Dante, I’m going home right now. If the lady refuses to leave, call the cops and get her out of the ranch."

Angel left the girl hanging right there. She was already completely tired of the nonsense.

"Come on, Bebe... let’s go."

April did not say anything as she followed Angel. She had been quiet for most of the situation, but Angel knew her well enough to understand that silence did not always mean she was fine.

The ride back home was unusually quiet.

Normally, Angel would find something random to talk about. She could complain about the ranch, talk about the horses, joke about their cats, or tease April until she finally smiled. This time, neither of them seemed interested in starting anything.

Angel occasionally looked at April.

April would look back.

Then both of them would look away.

It continued like that for several minutes, both waiting for the other person to finally break the silence.

Angel eventually decided she could not stand it anymore.

"You know, when someone is openly flirting with what belongs to you, you’re supposed to fight back..." Angel sang out softly.

April slowly turned her eyes toward her.

"I was training myself to have faith and trust in you. You always have free time, and you don’t do all that side-piece stuff. I used to have those thoughts because of the Alpha I met in the mansion, but you really surprised me today. I’m proud of you Papi... But if I see her again trying to flirt with you, I will do the first thing that comes to my mind."

Angel smiled slightly.

She knew April was still bothered, but hearing that she trusted her meant more than she could explain.

"I like that. You know, I was fully expecting you to knock some sense into her fucking skull, but I love the fact that you trust me..." Angel said, holding her fiancée’s hand.

April allowed Angel to hold her hand, but her expression remained serious.

She stayed quiet for a moment before asking the question that immediately destroyed Angel’s peaceful mood.

"So tell me, if we were not together, would you fuck her?"

Angel went completely silent.

The question came out of nowhere, and for a few seconds, she had absolutely no idea what answer would keep her out of trouble.

April stared at her.

Angel stared ahead.

The silence between them became painfully obvious.

April made her own conclusion from the silence.

"So you would actually fuck her if we weren’t in a fucking relationship..."

Angel immediately regretted not answering faster.

"Can we just talk about something else? Like the weather, how was the picnic, or the names of the horses, or what is for dinner?" Anything. Angel wanted anything but the question April was throwing at her.

April went completely silent.

And somehow, that was worse.

She didn’t talk to Angel, even during dinner. She just sat there and glared at her Alpha whenever their eyes happened to meet.

Angel tried eating normally, but she could feel the uncomfortable atmosphere hanging around them. Even the house seemed quieter than usual.

Now they were in the bedroom, and April was pouting inside her nest.

She had pulled the blankets around herself and was deliberately avoiding looking at Angel.

Angel understood why April was upset.

April had spent months learning to trust her after everything she had experienced before. The last thing Angel wanted was to make her feel like that trust was being wasted.

"Okay, fine... If I was still single, I would have considered it and even been the one to make a move on her. But that was back then, the old me. Me right now doesn’t think about all that body-shit and wrecking of other girls because I finally chose the one I want to spend the rest of my life with... Being with you changed me, okay? Just please don’t go silent on me. It’s so lonely when you do that..." Angel said.

April remained inside her nest, still processing what Angel had said.

She knew Angel had been honest.

Maybe too honest.

But there was still one more thought bothering her.

"Would you fuck someone else if I’m dead?"

Angel’s expression immediately became serious.

"Well, I marked you, making you my one and only Omega. If something bad happens to you, it will be like a part of me was ripped out... You are the last person I want to have sex with."

April finally looked at her.

The anger in her face had softened.

"Okay... sorry. I just got overwhelmed..."

Angel moved closer, relieved that April was finally talking to her again.

"I know... Just don’t stop talking to me. I don’t like the silence in the house, especially when there are people inside..."
