Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 166: Picnic Day
It was picnic day with the fur family.
Angel took her fiancée and her fur babies out for a picnic. Despite seeing the cats every day, they had this once-a-month picnic day with them.
It had slowly become one of their favorite little traditions. Angel believed the cats deserved time outside the cottage just as much as everyone else, especially since they spent most of their days following their humans around the house or sleeping in their favorite spots.
While Percy and Coco stayed right beside their mommies, the kittens, who looked much longer than before, ran around the open field, except for Milo, who sat calmly on the green grass.
Milo simply watched his siblings create chaos around him.
The other kittens chased each other across the field, occasionally stopping to sniff something before suddenly taking off again. Their little legs had become noticeably longer, making them look completely different from when they were younger.
Percy remained close to April, while Coco stayed near Angel, both cats enjoying the warmth of the afternoon.
The picnic location was right by the cottage. The land was big enough to build a whole mansion.
Their grandmother had given it to Angel because it was Angel’s deceased mother’s inheritance as a Del Rosario. Since she wasn’t alive anymore, it had passed down directly to Angel.
The land carried a strange emotional weight for Angel.
It was one of the few things her mother had left behind for her, and Angel wanted to make something meaningful out of it instead of allowing it to remain unused.
Angel planned on building a much bigger house on the land when she had enough money to do so. Since the family was clearly growing, Angel wanted a bigger space for everyone, so the cats could also move in and have their own apartment inside.
She had already started imagining how different the place could look one day.
There would be enough bedrooms for everyone, a large kitchen, a bigger living room, and plenty of space outside for their growing family.
For now, however, the open field was more than enough.
Angel rested her head on April’s lap, looking up at the bright sun while April fed her sweet grapes.
Angel happily accepted each grape, occasionally closing her eyes when the sunlight became too bright.
April gently brushed her fingers through Angel’s hair between bites, enjoying the peaceful afternoon.
They discussed their future and present, thinking carefully about their next steps in life.
There was a lot happening at once.
The pregnancy had changed their priorities, and both women were beginning to think more seriously about what kind of life they wanted to create for their growing family.
April and Katie were still working hard on the e-store. They were creating a new website for it and trying other practical ways to make good use of their store.
The online side of the business was slowly becoming more important, especially with April spending less time at the physical bookstore.
Katie happened to be at the physical store helping out, since April hardly came around lately due to her constant coziness and deep need for an Alpha by her side.
Katie had basically become the person keeping things running whenever April needed to stay home and rest.
Katie was planning on turning the physical store into a small café for local people passing by who needed fresh refreshments.
The idea would give customers somewhere comfortable to sit while browsing books, and it could also bring more people into the store.
Angel was planning on owning her very own boat so she could officially start her own fishing business, while still working for Grandma Paula at the ranch.
She wanted something that belonged completely to her.
Working at the ranch had taught her plenty, but Angel also wanted to build something of her own so she could provide more for April and their future child.
It was not going to happen overnight, but she was willing to work for it.
And the wedding date was already fixed.
The two girls had told their grandparents that they just wanted a simple wedding, not some grand wedding. They didn’t want their grandmother to spend a lot of money on it, but Grandma Lucinda completely refused because she had never seen her own daughter get married and desperately wanted to watch her granddaughter get married in style.
For Lucinda, the wedding was about much more than decorations or expensive food.
It was a family moment she had waited years to experience.
According to them, Angel’s mother, Lucille, went to the US to study, and there she met Sloane Morningstar. They got married quickly without informing them or letting her family know.
It had apparently happened so suddenly that the family was left trying to understand what had happened from a distance.
Despite Angel visiting them during her childhood, they had never once set their eyes on Sloane Morningstar, except on TV, where they saw the rich person their daughter had married.
The strange story of her parents had always left Angel with unanswered questions.
Hearing that made Angel wonder what kind of love story her parents actually had. Was it really a true love story?
Angel eventually pushed the thoughts aside and returned her attention to April, who was still feeding her grapes while the kittens continued running around the field.
After spending quality time with the fur children and grandkids, they drove them straight back to the ranch, to drop off the furs.
The trip back was peaceful until they reached the ranch and discovered that a new customer had arrived.
A new customer showed up at the absolute last minute wanting to buy a horse.
Angel immediately switched into work mode.
She knew the ranch well and had enough experience with the horses to guide customers around, so she took the Omega toward the stable while April followed nearby.
While Angel was showing the Omega customer the horses at the stable, April noticed the way she was talking to Angel.
That customer was openly flirting with her Alpha.
"I really like that brown horse..." she said, eyeing the Alpha from top to bottom. "I would like for you to ride me... What I mean is, teach me how to ride the horse..."
Angel looked at the girl. Someone who was a player in her past knew what kind of eyes those were.
It was pure lust.
She had seen that expression plenty of times before, and there was no mistaking it now.
Knowing the ticking bomb standing right by her side, Angel just laughed it off awkwardly.
"My boy Dante will teach you how to ride the horse... Dante!" Angel shouted like her life depended on it, desperately hoping Dante was somewhere around the corner.
The poor boy was fast asleep in the barn when he suddenly heard his name being called out.
"I don’t want Dante. I want you... Teach me how to ride a horse right now..."
"I’m sorry, but no can do."
"Then I won’t buy the horse at all. I will go to other local ranches and buy myself a horse..."
"I assure you, ma’am, Del Rosario Ranch has the absolute best horses around..."
"Then show me the best horse personally..."
Angel was going to refuse again, but then April suddenly wrapped her hand firmly around her Alpha’s arm.
"Papi, just show her how to ride the damn horse..." April said, then she shut her cold eyes at the Omega customer.
April was clearly marking her territory right in front of her, showing the girl who owned the Alpha.
