Chapter 130: A Strange Spirit
"So this is..."
Inside the strange space, Long Feng lowered his head and his expression changed greatly.
What he could see wasn’t his own body clearly, instead it was the strange demonic form his soul had taken.
Black-and-blue light faintly flowed across his body, while his facial features appeared sharper than usual.
His eyes carried an unusual coldness, and a faint demonic aura surrounded him like an invisible mist.
Long Feng slowly raised one hand and clenched his fingers, then he opened them again.
The sensation was astonishingly real.
There was no difference between moving this soul body and moving his physical body.
He could feel every movement with complete clarity, as though this were another genuine body rather than merely a manifestation of his soul.
Long Feng flexed his fingers several times before a faint smile appeared on his face.
"It’s almost exactly like having a physical body."
He had experienced soul-related techniques before, but this was completely different.
As he slowly looked around him, examine the inner world of Heavenly Judgment Mirror.
He remembered what the elder had said before the examination. Every disciple who entered the mirror would have their talent evaluated through their Nascent Soul.
Normally, the result should appear almost immediately, but nothing happened till now.
Long Feng waited and several more breaths passed, yet nothing. This made him frowned slightly.
"What’s going on?"
Long Feng looked around with a trace of confusion.
"Did something go wrong?"
When nothing changed, he finally decided to investigate the strange space himself. He began floating through the darkness.
The countless floating lights remained scattered around him. From a distance, they looked almost like stars.
Long Feng stared at them for a moment.
"If I were a woman, perhaps I’d find this beautiful."
He immediately shook his head. "What am I thinking?"
He continued forward. However, after only a few steps, his expression suddenly changed. His footsteps stopped.
A strange sensation had entered his perception.
It was extremely faint, almost impossible to notice beneath the countless fluctuations filling this space.
Long Feng slowly turned his head. His gaze fell upon one of the floating lights and his eyes narrowed.
"There is something."
He didn’t hesitate anymore, raised his fist and punched directly toward it.
BOOM!
The tiny star exploded.
At the same time, a frightened cry suddenly echoed through the darkness.
"Ahhh!"
Long Feng froze.
"...What?"
The voice had clearly come from the shattered light.
He immediately turned toward it. The scattered golden fragments began gathering together and a small figure slowly emerged from within them.
But the scene before him, made his eyes widened slightly.
It was a little girl, looked no older than four or five years old. Her cheeks were round and soft, her black hair was tied into two small bunches, and a simple white dress covered her tiny body.
She looked completely harmless, yet cute.
At this moment, however, her tiny face was filled with fear.
Her large eyes were fixed on Long Feng as though she had just encountered the most terrifying creature in existence.
Long Feng looked at her and the girl looked at him. For several breaths, neither of them moved.
Then the little girl suddenly took several steps backward.
"You... you demon... Don’t come closer!"
"Don’t eat me!"
Her voice trembling with fear, her small body was shaking. She hugged herself tightly and looked ready to cry.
"Eat you?" Long Feng’s expression became strange.
"Yueyue isn’t tasty! I’m very skinny, pitifully low meat to enjoy!" The girl nodded frantically.
Long Feng was completely taken aback. He looked down at himself again, only then did he suddenly understand. His current soul form was not exactly pleasant to look at.
Sharp facial features, cold eyes, black-and-blue demonic body and a terrifying aura surrounding him.
From the perspective of a frightened little girl, he probably did look like some ancient demon that had crawled out of the darkness.
’No wonder she’s afraid.’
Long Feng sighed inwardly. He raised both hands slightly to show that he had no intention of attacking.
"Relax. I’m not going to hurt you."
"You look scary." The little girl calling herself Yueyue still stared at him cautiously.
Long Feng glanced at himself once again and nodded.
"I suppose I do."
His answer seemed to surprise her.
Yueyue remained behind the floating fragments, watching him carefully.
"Who are you?" Long Feng looked at her.
Yueyue hesitated slightly. She clearly didn’t want to answer, not even any conversation with him.
Long Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"I’m only asking a question."
"I’m..." The girl swallowed nervously. She hesitated for another moment before finally speaking.
"I’m the spirit of this mirror."
"The spirit?" Long Feng’s expression changed slightly. "The Heavenly Judgment Mirror has developed its own consciousness to this extent?"
He had heard before that powerful treasures could develop their own spirits after existing for countless years. Some ancient treasures even possessed intelligence comparable to powerful cultivators.
Still, seeing a weapon spirit in the form of such a young girl was somewhat unexpected.
"But... you don’t seem very powerful." Long Feng looked at her for a moment, clearly suspicious.
That Heavenly Judgement Mirror should have been a very powerful weapon, so why is its spirit so weak?
But hearing his words, the girl’s cheeks immediately puffed up.
"I’m very powerful!"
"Really?" Long Feng raised an eyebrow.
"Of course!" She clenched her tiny fists and raised her chin.
"I’m the spirit of this ancient treasure!"
Long Feng almost smiled. But the moment the corners of his lips moved upward, the little girl’s expression changed again. She immediately stepped backward.
Long Feng’s smile froze.
"...Was that frightening too?"
Yueyue nodded vigorously, making him sighed.
"Fine. I won’t smile."
The little girl looked slightly relieved. Long Feng continued looking at her.
"Then answer a few questions for me."
"What questions?" She hesitated.
"I entered this mirror for the talent examination, but nothing happened after I arrived here."
Long Feng’s gaze became serious. "So tell me what is happening. How do I leave this place, and how is my talent supposed to be determined?"
Yueyue remained silent before lowered her head in shame and guilt.
"Answer me honestly." Long Feng’s voice became slightly colder.
Yueyue nodded quickly.
"Okay."
With a sigh, he explained, "When someone’s soul enters the Heavenly Judgment Mirror, I examine the quality of their Nascent Soul.
The examination normally begins immediately after their consciousness enters this space."
Long Feng nodded slowly. "So the talent result should already have appeared."
"Yes."
"Then why hasn’t mine?"
Yueyue hesitated. As she looked at Long Feng’s soul body again and a faint trace of fear appeared in her eyes.
Long Feng immediately noticed it.
"What?"
She shook her head.
"Nothing.
It’s just the souls of ordinary disciples become unconscious when they enter this place. Their consciousness can’t remain awake inside the mirror, so I can examine their Nascent Souls directly and determine their talent."
"So their consciousness doesn’t normally remain here, and I’m an exception?"
Long Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Something like that."
The little girl nodded, but her voice had become much quieter than before.
Long Feng looked around the endless darkness once again.
That explained the strange feeling he had experienced ever since entering this place.
He had initially assumed that the Heavenly Judgment Mirror simply created an isolated space for the examination and that every disciple entered it in the same manner.
But according to the girl, that wasn’t the case at all.
While other disciples would examined, they themselves remained unaware of what was happening. That meant he was genuinely an exception.
Long Feng finally understood why he was still conscious inside the mirror.
Yueyue lowered her head awkwardly.
She couldn’t tell the truth that she feared with his terrifying soul earlier and had hidden herself inside the floating light, completely forgetting to conduct the examination.
Long Feng looked at her for a moment before asking directly,
"Then what about my talent?"
Yueyue immediately looked up and examined him again. A faint golden light flickered through her eyes as she carefully observed his spiritual energy and soul.
After a few moments, she nodded seriously.
"Your talent is very high, yes high."
"How high?" Long Feng raised an eyebrow.
She tilted her head, seemingly trying to compare him with the countless disciples she had examined throughout the years.
"I’m not trying to praise you just because you’re frightening me."
"I didn’t say you were."
"I know, but..." She glanced at him nervously. "I want you to understand that I’m not exaggerating."
Her expression became much more serious.
"The amount of spiritual energy contained within your Golden Core is extremely dense and pure from someone at your cultivation realm."
Long Feng’s expression changed slightly. Her words were preciously true. It seems this thing is quite something.
"But what’s more special is you soul. It’s dev..." She was about to say devilish, but realized at the moment and corrected herself.
"I’m different, you soul is quite different. It’s replica the body, making its extremely compatible to yourself. It’s also very concentrated and stable, almost as though it has been tempered repeatedly."
She slowly extended one tiny hand. "Even the structure of your soul is unusual."
"How unusual?" Long Feng looked at her.
"I-I... like is..." Yueyue shook her head, finding the most pleasant words to say him demonic without calling demon.
"I can’t properly describe it, but it’s extremely firm, and there is a strange compatibility between your soul and your spiritual energy that I have never seen before."
"If your soul were ordinary, you wouldn’t still be conscious here."
Hearing this, Long Feng’s expression became thoughtful.
