Chapter 128: Arrival of True Elders

  • Next Chapter

Elder Dong looked at their expressions and didn’t say anything. He already knew what these disciples were thinking.

There was no need to remind them. The opportunity was in front of them. What they could obtain from it would depend entirely on themselves.

"Enough, now follow me."

The disciples immediately followed.

They barely paid attention to the other Core Disciples around the tower now. Their new robes had already become the least important thing in their minds.

They were going to the Heavenly Talent Selection Ceremony.

For these newly promoted Core Disciples, that possibility alone was enough to make their blood boil.

Long Feng walked at the back of the group. His expression remained calm. But deep inside, his curiosity toward the Heavenly Judgment Mirror was slowly growing.

They traveled for a short while before arriving at a vast open area within the core region of sect.

A huge square platform had been constructed in the center of the open ground. Around it were hundreds of stone seats arranged in orderly rows, while a large elevated platform had been built at the very front.

That platform was clearly prepared for the elders.

As Long Feng and the others arrived, they immediately noticed that they were not the only disciples present, more than a dozen core disciples were already standing in the designated area.

"Brother Long, looks like there are quite a few people this time." Li Qiang glanced at them before lowering his voice.

One of the disciples standing nearby overheard him and quietly explained.

"They seem from the other peaks."

As if Elder Dong had heard their words and nodded in agreement.

"Yes. The disciples who performed exceptionally well in their respective areas were also selected for today’s ceremony."

Long Feng didn’t say anything. His gaze simply swept across the gathering, checking about them.

Most of these disciples had already reached the Nascent Soul Realm. Some were at the First Level, while a few had clearly accumulated their cultivation for much longer and possessed stronger auras.

This ceremony was obviously not limited to the disciples who had participated in the Inner Disciple Ranking Tournament. It represented something much larger.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

One after another, figures began arriving there and began taking their seats.. They were none other than elders who were going see them.

Some wore gray robes, some blue, some white, while others wore completely ordinary-looking garments, yet none of them looked ordinary.

Every elder who appeared possessed an aura that made the surrounding disciples instinctively straighten their backs.

Even Elder Dong eventually arrived and took his place among them. His seat was in the middle of the elders, not highest one. There were several seats above him that remained empty.

Long Feng quietly observed the arrangement. Clearly, Elder Dong’s position within the sect was already quite respectable.

But among these elders, he was still not at the highest level.

More and more elders arrived. Soon, almost all of the seats had been occupied, but three seats at the very front remained empty.

The surrounding disciples gradually became quieter as they all know who will occupy them.

A moment later, the atmosphere suddenly changed. A terrifying pressure descended from the distant sky.

Boom!

The spiritual energy in the surrounding area trembled as three figures appeared high above the ceremony grounds.

They were not on any spiritual treasure like a boat or a sword, but were actually flying in the air.

This scene caused the expressions of the disciples below changed immediately.

"They’re flying..."

Someone whispered in disbelief.

"That’s ... great! Even a Void Ascension Realm cultivator can’t fly through the air like that."

"Then..." The disciple swallowed hard. "They’re above the Void Ascension Realm."

The words spread rapidly through the crowd.

"True Elders!"

"They’re actually True Elders!"

"Three of them?"

The entire area became restless, even as the Core Disciples who had maintained calm expressions couldn’t hide their excitement.

True Elders were extremely rare existences within Azura Heaven Sect.

Usually, only one or two would occasionally participate in the Heavenly Talent Selection Ceremony. Three appearing at the same time was something that rarely happened.

A disciple standing close to Long Feng couldn’t contain his excitement and quietly muttered,

"I heard that normally only one or two True Elder comes to watch this ceremony. Sometimes there isn’t even one. Three appearing this time is incredible."

Long Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly. His gaze remained on the three figures descending from the sky.

These three old men were the most powerful people he had ever seen to date, if you don’t count those ghost-like old men whose cultivation he still didn’t know.

The pressure coming from them was completely different from the elders sitting below.

It wasn’t simply a difference in cultivation.

There was an invisible majesty surrounding the three figures, something that made even the surrounding elders unconsciously become more serious.

The three True Elders slowly descended from the sky and landed in front of their respective seats. Without saying anything, they walked over and sat down as if their arrival had been nothing unusual.

But to the disciples standing below, it was anything but ordinary.

The entire ceremony ground became noticeably quieter.

Several ordinary elders exchanged glances before one of the True Elders casually looked toward the others.

"These disciples seem quite good this time."

Another elder nodded slightly. "The wilderness training produced several interesting seedlings."

The third elder chuckled and glanced at the elder sitting beside him.

"But I’m more surprised to see you actually came here to choose a disciple."

"Why not?" the third elder replied, raising an eyebrow.

"You haven’t accepted a disciple for nearly two hundred years. As far as I remember, you even said you wouldn’t take another disciple."

The elder who had remained silent until then finally spoke, his voice carrying a hint of amusement.

"What changed your mind this time?"

The third elder gave a light scoff.

"I said I wouldn’t take one casually. I never said I would never take another."

The other two elders exchanged amused looks.

Their conversation was not loud, but several nearby elders could still hear them.

Soon, their gazes shifted toward the disciples standing below. Among the gathered Core Disciples, several figures naturally attracted more attention than the others, especially those who had performed exceptionally well during the recent wilderness training.

The three True Elders had clearly come with a purpose. And among the names they had already heard, Long Feng was one of them.

At that moment, Elder Dong slowly stood from his seat. The surrounding conversations immediately stopped. Everyone’s attention turned toward him.

Elder Dong swept his gaze across the gathered disciples before calmly speaking.

"Since everyone has arrived, we will begin the Heavenly Talent Selection Ceremony."

His voice wasn’t particularly loud, yet it spread clearly throughout the entire open ground.

"This ceremony will determine the talent of the disciples selected by the sect."

Then he turned his gaze toward one of the elders sitting nearby and gave a slight nod. The elder immediately understood, stood from his seat and made strange hand seals.

A powerful spiritual fluctuation suddenly spread across the ceremony grounds. A moment later, an enormous golden mirror appeared in the air above the platform.

The mirror was nearly the height of an adult man, with a thick circular frame covered in ancient golden patterns. Its surface was perfectly smooth, yet strangely, it didn’t reflect the surrounding scenery or the people standing before it.

Instead, faint ripples continuously moved across its surface as if the mirror contained a layer of still water. But what’s most attractive was the extraordinary aura spread from it.

Several disciples stared at it with curiosity, even Long Feng narrowed his eyes slightly. He could immediately sense that the mirror was not an ordinary treasure.

The elder controlled it with his spiritual energy and slowly brought it down.

The enormous mirror landed in the center of the specially prepared platform. The moment its base touched the ground, the ancient patterns around its frame lit up faintly.

The entire platform trembled once before becoming completely still.

The elder then stepped to the side of the mirror and unfolded the list in his hand.

"Chen Yu."

A young man immediately stepped out from among the disciples.

He was dressed in the robes of Martial Peak and appeared to be around twenty-five years old. His cultivation had already reached the Second Level of the Nascent Soul Realm, and judging from the aura surrounding him, his foundation was quite stable.

He walked onto the platform and stopped in front of the enormous mirror.

The elder looked at him and said, "Place both hands on the mirror."

Chen Yu nodded and did as he told. He stepped forward and pressed both palms against the golden surface. The instant his hands touched the mirror, a faint vibration passed through it.

Long Feng and other disciple looked at him intensely, dare not leave any details as they were also going to follow him afterwards. They saw that after some time of touching the mirror, Chen Yu’s body trembled slightly.

His expression became serious as he circulated his spiritual energy and allowed the power of the mirror to enter his body.

Several more breaths passed, as the surface of the mirror suddenly rippled. A faint figure gradually appeared inside it.

At first, the image was blurry, but it quickly became clearer.

It wasn’t Chen Yu’s physical reflection.

It was his Nascent Soul.

A small humanoid figure stood within the mirror, surrounded by an extremely sharp aura. Behind it, a faint sword-shaped phantom slowly emerged, giving the entire Nascent Soul an extraordinary sword intent.

The elder standing beside the mirror watched carefully.

"Sword-type Nascent Soul."

The moment his voice fell, the surface of the mirror suddenly began to shine.
