Chapter 129: Chapter 124: Human Soul

Hoooo...

Li Changsheng slowly exhaled a breath of turbid air and opened his eyes.

A thin layer of frost had formed in a several-meter radius around him. At the center lay an ice-blue leaf, less than an inch long.

Li Changsheng focused his gaze.

[Target: Cold Flame Flower]

[Tier One Low-grade: 1%]

[Efficacy: Refines Spirit and Nourishes Meridians.]

[Status: Healthy.]

Li Changsheng stared at the [Tier One Low-grade: 1%] line, and a piece of information flooded his mind.

[Hidden Spirit Grade-Up: Infuse with a cold spring and a large amount of life force to ripen "None"]

’Is the information incomplete...’

Li Changsheng frowned slightly. After a moment of contemplation, he picked up the jade boxes and jars and continued planting the Cold Flame Flowers one by one.

In less than an hour, all ten Cold Flame Flower seeds were planted.

Li Changsheng glanced around before walking to the other end of the Spirit Field and taking out the jade box containing the Tier Two Top-grade Spirit Species, the Narcissus Spring.

Due to its unique nature, the Narcissus Spring required no auxiliary Spirit Medicines, and its planting method was also exceptionally simple.

He just needed to use his life force to nurture open the water apertures on the Narcissus Spring seeds, then connect the apertures to the Spirit Field’s ley lines.

However, while it sounded simple, this process took the most time.

A full hour passed before Li Changsheng managed to nurture open the water apertures on a single Narcissus Spring seed and bury it in the Spirit Field.

Then, using his life force as a conduit, he connected it to over a dozen of the Spirit Field’s ley lines.

As the Spiritual Qi erupting from the Spiritual Vortex flowed into the Narcissus Spring, tiny, clear water droplets began to seep from its surface. In no time, they formed a small puddle that submerged the emerald-green Narcissus Spring seed.

’Interesting...’

Li Changsheng smiled and focused his gaze.

[Target: Narcissus Spring]

[Tier One Low-grade: 1%]

[Efficacy: Nurtures Spirit and Forges Bones.]

[Status: Healthy.]

’Nurtures Spirit and Forges Bones...’

Li Changsheng stared at [Tier One Low-grade: 1%], and a piece of information flooded his mind.

[Hidden Spirit Grade-Up: Infuse with a large amount of life force to ripen "None"]

Li Changsheng shook his head slightly, picked up the jade box, and, following the cultivation information from the jade slip, moved several meters away from the Narcissus Spring before stopping.

Time passed quickly. Because nurturing the water apertures of the Narcissus Spring was so time-consuming, it took him a full day to finish planting everything.

At that moment, within the Spiritual Mist-shrouded Spirit Field, one side was bone-chillingly cold while the other was damp and humid. Standing close, one could feel a refreshing sensation.

Because there were only twenty spirit seeds, a large area in the middle of the Spirit Field was left empty.

’Leaving it empty like this is a bit of a waste...’

’Unfortunately, I don’t have any Top-grade Spirit Medicine seeds.’

’Should I plant some Middle-grade Spirit Medicines?’

Li Changsheng contemplated for a moment, then shook his head.

Using a High-grade Spirit Field to plant Middle-grade Spirit Medicines was still quite wasteful. He decided that after he finished planting his own Spirit Field, he would ask the other Stewards if they had any top-grade spirit seeds.

After thinking for a while by the edge of the Spirit Field, Li Changsheng vaulted onto Xiaohua’s back and headed for home.

Now that the three mu of Tier Two Middle-grade and one mu of Tier Two High-grade Spirit Fields were all planted, he would only need to irrigate them with his life force once every seven days.

However, the Jade Ganoderma Fruit and the Earth Spirit Root still required irrigation using the Lesser Cloud and Rain Art.

From now on, he just needed to inspect them daily.

In his other free time, he could tend to his own Spirit Field.

As for managing the other Tier Two Low-grade Spirit Fields, he hadn’t considered it, nor did he want to. With that time, he would rather focus on his cultivation.

Besides, it was enough for him to take good care of the Spirit Plants in the middle and high-grade Spirit Fields. Taking on any more wouldn’t even be a worthwhile bonus.

He had no desire to work himself to death like an ox.

Back in his small courtyard, Li Changsheng picked up the wooden plow and vine ropes from beside the animal pen, placed them on Xiaohua, and headed toward his own Spirit Field.

The Spirit Field was only a dozen or so meters from his house, so the man and his pig quickly arrived at its edge.

With a mere thought from Li Changsheng, the swarm of insects circling above his head dived down and burrowed into the weeds.

Before long, the remnants of snake-like beasts were dragged out and devoured by the swarm. ℴ

Li Changsheng wasn’t idle either. He skillfully harnessed Xiaohua with the vine ropes, and after confirming they were tied securely, he circulated his Spiritual Power into the Talismanic Hoe.

He drove Xiaohua into the Spirit Field.

OINK OINK...

Xiaohua grunted and stepped into the Spirit Field.

Li Changsheng pressed down hard with both hands, and the hoe immediately sank deep into the Spirit Field.

"Giddy-up..."

At his call, Xiaohua’s muscles tensed, and it strode forward with big steps.

RRRIP...

The sound of roots tearing echoed as the soil parted to both sides, with faint, invisible wisps of Spiritual Qi swirling around it.

In no time, a deep furrow appeared.

Li Changsheng lifted the plow and, while directing Xiaohua to turn around, channeled Spiritual Power into the hoe blade once more.

Time ticked by.

In just half a day, furrow after furrow appeared in the Spirit Field. The man and his pig had plowed nearly two mu of land.

Seeing this, Li Changsheng was no longer in a hurry. He unharnessed Xiaohua from the vine ropes and returned home with a chuckle.

Just as he was making a meal.

「Countless miles beyond the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land」

Mountain ranges rose and fell, and towering ancient trees shot up from the ground. The gaps between the plants were filled with thorns and brambles.

In a narrow valley wedged between two low mountains.

Burly men, who looked to be at least two meters tall, were coming and going from the valley. Most of them wore animal hides, though a few were clad in dark, heavy armor. What they all had in common, however, were the bizarre, twisted tattoos covering their exposed skin.

Some were of beasts: a tiger with a third eye on its head, a leopard with six limbs sprouting from its belly, a three-headed ox, and more...

Others were of insects: a spider with an eye on its back, a three-winged centipede, a leech entangled in fine tentacles, and the like...

They did not speak to one another, striding into the valley while shouldering massive, bound Spirit Beasts.

Inside the valley, crude wooden huts, like those of a barbarian tribe, were built around a strange, central totem several zhang long and as thick as a man’s embrace.

Below the totem was a pool of crimson blood.

By the edge of the blood pool sat a burly, half-naked man. His body was tattooed with an unnatural beast: one with nine heads, four wings growing from its back, and six claws sprouting from its belly.

Of the beast’s nine heads, two—one of a goat and one of a crane—were solid and lifelike, emanating a ferocious aura. Six of the remaining seven heads were illusory and indistinct, while the last one constantly shifted its shape, as if on the verge of taking solid form.
