Chapter 130: Chapter 125: Blood Soul Record

A succession of men approached the half-naked, burly man, their expressions turning deeply respectful. They gently set the Spirit Beasts they carried on their shoulders onto the ground, bowed, and departed without a word.

Soon, a pile of over a dozen Spirit Beasts of varying strength had accumulated beside the burly man. The strongest were comparable to Late-Stage Qi Cultivation, while the weakest were at Mid-Qi Cultivation.

The Spirit Beasts’ limbs were broken and bound, rendering them immobile. They let out waves of mournful cries and roars.

The burly man paid them no mind, his gaze fixed with cold solemnity on the totem in the center of the blood pool. Suddenly, he reached out to his side.

He grabbed a Spirit Beast that was about three meters long and resembled a leopard directly by its head.

"ROAR..."

No matter how the leopard-like Spirit Beast twisted, struggled, and roared threateningly, the burly man’s hand didn’t move an inch.

With his eyes still fixed on the strange totem, a formidable power erupted from his palm. The leopard-like Spirit Beast didn’t even have time to scream before it was instantly reduced to a pulp of flesh that slid into the blood pool.

ROAR...

A deep roar suddenly echoed from the strange totem in the center of the blood pool. Winding, complex runes began to glow on the totem’s surface, which was covered in twisted bestial forms.

BUZZ—

The blood pool trembled for a moment, and faint ripples spread across its surface.

Wisps of crimson energy rose and swirled, refusing to dissipate.

The next moment, a leopard-like Spirit Beast five meters long and formed entirely from dark red blood suddenly shot out of the pool, crashing into a blank area on the central totem.

CLANG...

A sound like the clash of metal rang out. The body of the blood leopard vanished as it merged into the Totem Pillar, and a twisted, beastly silhouette slowly coalesced in the previously blank space.

"Blood Soul Record..."

The burly man stared at the beastly silhouette formed by the leopard-like Spirit Beast, a rare smile appearing on his face.

He continued without pause.

The burly man grabbed one Spirit Beast after another, using the immense power within his body to crush them into pulp and cast them into the blood pool.

In just a moment, one dark-red Spirit Beast after another materialized and crashed crazily into the totem above the blood pool.

Some formed new beastly silhouettes in blank spaces on the totem, while others merged into existing ones.

As the dark-red Spirit Beasts continued to merge, the runes on the totem flickered with a crimson luster. The deep, muffled roar, long silent, sounded again, as if urging him to continue feeding it Spirit Beasts.

As the burly man was dealing with the Spirit Beasts,

a tall, thin Cultivator with small eyes and slightly upturned nostrils landed beside him, riding a black-and-red hawk.

The Cultivator stepped onto the ground, and in the next instant, the hawk spread its wings and dissolved into a great mass of black-and-red blood that surged into his robes.

"Senior Brother Congli? Is the Blood Soul Record almost ready?"

Zuo Ling asked after staring at the totem for a moment, unable to make heads or tails of it.

Congli said in a deep voice, "It will be done in three days at the soonest, seven days at the latest."

"That’s good, that’s good."

Zuo Ling clearly let out a sigh of relief, patting his gaunt chest. He chuckled and said, "Once the Blood Soul Record is finished, that Cyan Yang Demon won’t know what hit him! Hahaha..."

Congli turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on Zuo Ling. "How long has the messenger been gone?" he asked.

Zuo Ling didn’t know why he was asking. He thought for a moment and said, "It should take about three days to get back to Ten Thousand Spirits Peak." He paused, then added, "If an Elder accompanies them on the way back, they could return in a little over a day."

"Four days..."

Congli muttered to himself, his expression pensive as he stared at the Totem Pillar above the blood pool.

After a moment of silence, Zuo Ling’s vision blurred, and a ghastly white beast bone covered in faint golden patterns landed in his palm.

When he felt the immense Demonic Power contained within the bone, he couldn’t help but feel a chill.

Zuo Ling swallowed hard and said in a grave voice, "Senior Brother Congli, what is this?"

Congli’s hoarse voice sounded.

"The Blood Soul Record is absorbing the soul blood of Spirit Beasts too slowly."

"In a great marsh a few hundred miles from here, there are three Earth Rhinoceroses—two at the Early-Demon Realm and one at the Late-Demon Realm. Take this Great Demon Bone and capture them for me."

Zuo Ling frowned and asked hesitantly, "Senior Brother, you want to make a move before the Elders get here?"

Congli slowly stood up. His massive shadow enveloped Zuo Ling, and a heavy, oppressive feeling washed over him, forcing him to lower his head involuntarily.

After a few breaths, Congli’s hoarse voice sounded.

"Our blockade was set up too hastily. It might not be able to stop them from getting a message back."

"I’m worried that instead of our Power Demon Sect Elders arriving, we’ll be greeted by Elders from the Cyan Yang Sect."

"I understand. I will capture the Earth Rhinoceroses for you, Senior Brother."

Zuo Ling’s mind raced for a few moments before he cupped his hands and agreed.

’It’s just as Congli said,’ he thought. ’If the Cyan Yang Sect Elders arrive first, we won’t get a single thing out of this.’

He then leaped into the air, and blood poured from his robes like a waterfall.

SCREECH...

A completely crimson hawk materialized, let out a sharp cry, and carried him away from the canyon with a beat of its wings.

Congli slowly retracted his gaze, a savage look in his eyes. He grabbed another Spirit Beast and crushed it.

As the pulp flowed into the blood pool, he slowly grinned, revealing ghastly, sharp fangs. "The meat is right at my lips. How could I be satisfied if I don’t devour every last bite!"

’If I can break through the Spiritual Land,’ he mused, ’let alone anything else, just those experienced Spirit Farmers would be a considerable fortune.’

’Especially the four Spirit Plant Masters. Even though their training is flawed, if I sold them in another region, the profit would be enough for my Nine-headed Nightmare Spirit Demon Body to evolve another head, making me a Third-Realm Body Cultivator comparable to a Dao Foundation Realm Cultivator.’

’By then, my prospects will be completely different.’

Li Changsheng, currently tilling the fields, had no idea that he, Dong Xing, and the other two had become a hot commodity in someone else’s eyes—resources for their advancement.

「Dozens of miles north of the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land, on a hill less than a thousand meters high.」

The Spiritual Qi in the air was in turmoil, saturated with a murderous aura.

Atop the hill, the pieces of a mangled body were scattered about.

A tall, sturdy, bald man sat cross-legged in the center, meditating with his eyes closed. With each breath he took, wisps of crimson Qi Blood rose from the corpse and flowed into his nostrils.

After a moment, the man’s face suddenly flushed red. He snapped his eyes open and coughed violently several times, spitting up a large amount of blackish-red, foul blood.

The foul blood gave off a ghastly chill, and the moment it hit the ground, a thin layer of frost formed in a radius of several meters.

"Pah!"

The man spat out the foul blood in his mouth and cursed, "This damn Demon Pup only knows how to use insidious Magic." Then, with a pained look, he added, "Losing three drops of my essence blood to kill him... what a huge loss, a huge loss..."

"You’d better have something good on you, or I’ll grind your bones to dust!"

Cursing under his breath, the burly man got to his feet and walked over to the desiccated corpse.

The corpse’s face looked like it had been smashed in by a fist, making it unrecognizable. It wore a cyan robe, and on its chest was the word "Hunt."

The man searched the body and stuffed what he found into his robes without a glance. Then, with a heavy stomp of his foot, a fissure as wide as a man opened up beneath the corpse and swallowed it whole.

The man scanned his surroundings, picked a direction, and with a single leap of several yards, disappeared into the forest.

Incidents like this occurred one after another. Some survived, but others, naturally, had their bones buried in the wilderness.
