Chapter 2087 - 2087: Nobunaga's Ambitions
—–
TRUMMM!
Oda’s presence was manifested as a giant sea of black, purple, and red flames, which spread through the entire palace’s interior, making the woman in front of him shiver in horror and disbelief, almost feeling like she couldn’t even breathe.
His Aura rapidly transformed, from a sea of flames, it took the form of a giant black skeleton covered with infernal crimson flames, glaring down at Kimiko Hanna while holding a pair of gigantic katanas made of fire and darkness.
This was Oda’s weakest Aura Materialization.
Kimiko’s eyes widened as she stepped back, pissing herself out of fear, wetting her underwear and dress in the process in an act pathetically unfitting of a sorceress of her caliber… Thankfully, her clothes were magical, cleaning things automatically to always remain pristine.
“A-Aaah… I-I…!”
She muttered in fear and horror before Oda’s immense prowess, and also his wrath. He was clearly furious despite having shown uninterest before.
“If you ever dare come back without results, you better prepare for the consequences, Kimiko… I detest incompetent cowards!”
With a furious voice, Oda Nobunaga’s presence only intensified, forcing Kimiko Hanna to prostrate before his demonic and divine presence.
“Y-Yes, your majesty…!”
She screamed while crying, pathetic before him… Only Mitsuhide remained unmoved, admiring his Emperor’s power.
“And stop stuttering!”
“Eek!”
Kimiko quickly ran away from the palace after that, leaving Oda Nobunaga with Mitsuhide, who seemed to look back at Kimiko running away with an annoyed expression.
“Your majesty… I have a question.”
“Go on.”
“Why let her live?”
“Ah…”
Oda Nobunaga looked down, he seemed… bored again.
“I’m bored, Mitsuhide.”
“…Bored?”
“Yeah, I’ve conquered all of Zipangu now, and I want more land… I was so bored. But this new world, Yggdrasil… it’s just full of so many wonderful things… Hahaha! The flame of conquest was rekindled in this old heart of mine! Hahahahaha!”
Oda suddenly started laughing, his aura fluctuating into countless skeletons laughing at the same time, even when he laughed he resembled a demon from hell.
“I see… So this is it, you did this for her because you were bored, your majesty?”
“More than just that though, Mitsuhide! Can’t you think a bit other than just with the blade?”
“My apologies…”
“Hmph, well, you see…”
Oda Nobunaga quickly stood up, as he whisked his fingers, and a giant portal above him emerged, showing him the lands he was conquering.
“I am quite interested in what this world can offer, both its lands, riches, and enemies… That Drake fellow seems pretty interesting, don’t you think? If he could kill one of you… and you fought him too, right Mitsuhide?”
“It was only a brief clash. I unleashed my techniques and managed to cut a few of his claws, but I managed to push him away from the Dimensional Gate before he could enter.”
“I see… well, that would’ve been even better, you really love running fun, don’t you?”
“I apologize, I simply prioritized the safety of my Lord and also of the Dimensional Castle, an outsider of Drake’s caliber could be devastating if allowed inside…”
“Hah… not wrong. Well, Kimiko-san will give us some great insight about what can that lizard even do. We’ll see in fine detail his abilities, capabilities, and his strengths and weaknesses.”
“So you’re simply using her as bait or… no, more like an experimental subject, a guinea pig… Is that right, master?” Mitsuhide asked. “I see where your vision is, your majesty. You want to learn more of him while watching Kimiko suffer.”
“Indeed, it’s fun that way, right?” Nobunaga laughed out loud. “It’s a pity that guy Katsuie Shibata died though, wasn’t he your friend, Mitsuhide?”
“He was… and he was also a very devoted warrior, wielding naginatas as weapons, he was feared through the invasion of that island and thought to be invincible until Drake arrived…” Mitsuhide said. “And… It makes me wish I could have been there.”
“Hmph… so emotional, this doesn’t fit me at all, try to not let emotions like those bind your judgement. You have to show that you’re one of my Generals after all,” Oda Nobunaga smiled, walking back to his throne, as his palace floated through the skies of his Dimensional Castle, reaching the highest point, where a sea of darkness and withering spectral spirits constantly expanded to all places.
This place in front of him was not exactly Zipangu, but a wicked Realm born from this World, made once the Supreme Goddess Amaterasu was slain by her own brother. Her grief, pain, and frustration filled her corpse with resentment. This resentment turned into an endless Curse, the Yokai Curse, and it was the beginning of the End of Zipangu as order fell and the greatest Empires and Kingdoms were destroyed one after another by endless hordes of Yokai, accompanied by the ruthless army of Oda Nobunaga.
“My conquest of Zipangu was exciting… And even after years, I still crave it, Mitsuhide… I crave war and bloodshed more than ever before. It’s not a thing about resources or territory… I need it, I want nothing but strife and conflict. I crave for it with every fiber of my being.”
“…”
Mitsuhide nodded in silence, knowing full well the dark path his Emperor had walked on, and which he promised he would walk until the very abyss with him.
“Now that our world is merging with another, what do you think will happen? Will there finally be someone equal to me? Someone that can match me and my army? Or will the people of this Yggdrasil World perish all the same, showing that they are just weaklings like the rest?”
“I believe this world is different in some ways, master… the entities that inhabit it seem even more ancient than our own. I would assume our world was created much later as well, from what we’ve investigated.”
“Indeed! Isn’t that amazing?! Ancient, mythical beings we’ve never seen before… Gahahahaha! I cannot wait to fight them! Dragons, Titans, Gods! Come! I shall slice you into pieces and drink your blood! GUHAHAHAHAHA!”
As Oda Nobunaga laughed, amidst the endless dark realm, two crimson eyes looked at him in silence, the husk of a now forgotten goddess, still remained, soulless, consumed by resentment.
And yet…
“…?!”
Her eyes widened, for the first time since her creation, she felt something, a tinge of warmth.
Coming from that other world, from someone…
A fragment of her soul.
