When she saw Shen Tiancheng tightly holding her, the expression on her face became very complicated.

Seeing Shen Tiancheng leaning on her and sleeping deeply, Tian Tian furrowed her brows slightly but did not push him away. Observing the quiet surroundings, Tian Tian sat there, waiting for Shen Tiancheng to wake up.

When the fire dwindled a bit, Tian Tian picked up a piece of dry wood from beside her and threw it into the fire, listening to the crackling sounds.

Shen Tiancheng, resting against her, slightly furrowed his long and slender brows. His voice was very hoarse, carrying a lazy and casual morning intonation.

"No need to add more wood, let me nap a little longer. In half an hour, we’ll set off!"

Seeing Shen Tiancheng already awake, Tian Tian quickly pushed him away and stood up.

"I’m going to wash up!"

Though Shen Tiancheng did not open his eyes, he still reminded her.

"Don’t go too far!"

Tian Tian softly acknowledged, naturally daring not to stray far.

Although she lacked experience in wilderness camping, she knew that lighting a fire last night to rest would surely attract the attention of some animals.

Tian Tian had just taken two steps when she felt as if something was watching her.

The creepy feeling suddenly swept through her entire body.

"Before the fire dies down, they won’t dare to come over, so go ahead and wash up!"

After speaking, Shen Tiancheng slowly opened his eyes, his pitch-black pupils devoid of any sleepiness.

Tian Tian nodded and then noticed those eyes that had been watching her earlier. They were eerily green and indeed gave her a chilling sensation, lurking in the nearby grass, coldly observing her.

After quickly freshening up, Tian Tian turned around and returned to the cave. Seeing the fire still burning, she felt reassured.

Noticing that Shen Tiancheng was still awake but showed no signs of getting up, Tian Tian didn’t bother him. She took out some dry food from her backpack: a portion for herself, and a portion for Shen Tiancheng.

Shen Tiancheng raised an eyebrow, glancing at her with a smile.

Tian Tian said nothing, focusing on eating the dry food with milk. She was devouring it much faster than when she was at home, practically wolfing it down.

Seeing this, Shen Tiancheng slightly frowned.

"Why the rush?"

Tian Tian paused and, noticing Shen Tiancheng’s disapproval, blinked, swallowed the bread in her mouth, and then spoke.

"The fire is about to die, and that wolf’s patience is also running thin."

Indeed, the owner of those eerie green eyes was a gray wolf.

Although its full silhouette was still not visible, perhaps because she had stayed here for a day, Tian Tian’s eyes had adjusted to the dim light in this place.

Shen Tiancheng leisurely got up, and as soon as he moved, Tian Tian noticed that the wolf outside also shifted slightly, its glowing green eyes becoming even more fierce.

Acting as if he didn’t see the wolf, Shen Tiancheng boldly turned his back on it, took a handful of snow in his hand, used the nearby fire to turn the snow into water, then smeared it on his face to wash up.

Watching his actions, Tian Tian’s heart nearly leapt out of her throat.

Almost instinctively, she drew a small, delicately crafted pistol from her riding boots and aimed it at the wolf.

However, from beginning to end, the wolf did not attack but continued to fix its eerie green eyes on them until Shen Tiancheng finished breakfast and the two prepared to set off.

The wolf glanced in their direction once, then turned away and left.

Gazing at the scene in amazement, Tian Tian quickly realized something seemed off.

"Aren’t wolves pack animals?"
